  1. The first wagon behind the Loco is a private owner sand wagon that was used for sand to/from the various Pilkington's glass works in St Helens. Mark Saunders
  2. From what I was told the early "Twin Jib Tracklayers" were a real pain as they were not self propelled and quite often were used with a 350hp (08 or similar) and transit to and from worksite was even less fun. Mark Saunders
  3. The wagon is one of the two Tankflats built by Gloucester they were in internal use at Marchwood but I heard they may have been sold to Trackwork at Doncaster. Mark Saunders
  4. I believe that the ban was on the Whitstable branch due to the restricted loading gauge on one of the tunnels and ordinary goods vans were also prohibited and traffic that would have normally been in vans was in sheeted opens. Mark Saunders
  5. I think one of the most inspirational shot of them is the opening sequence for "the likely lads" (the later ones filmed on Tyneside). Will the rare Buffet car get produced? Mark Saunders

  8. Has anyone converted the Cambrian Turbot kit to the LT rebuilt ones and do any drawings of the conversion exist? Mark Saunders
  9. The new Parkside LNER chassis fits the Airfix body quite well and mixed with detailing parts from Dave Bradwell can only get better. Mark Saunders

  13. The photo of AB491, has a NCB wagon body in the background does any one know anything about it as I have never seen any like this other than at/from Mountain Ash! It seems to have an end door but seems to look lower than a 21 tonner more like a16 tonner. Lettering and livery as per Yorkshire area. Any thoughts or alternate photographs please. Mark Saunders
  14. The other use is in reverse to try get your relief to a P'way train in the middle of nowhere! You know where you are but you then have to guide him to the nearest road access point! Mark Saunders
  15. The hoppers at BOCM Selby were Charles Roberts 20 ton Hoppers; at least one could be identified as a former 'Bedford Electricity Authority' wagon. Mark Saunders

  21. Please remember that these are "Diagram books" for loading rather than drawings for modelling from, please take care if using for modelling purposes. Some are better than others! Mark Saunders
  22. Two major ones are:- The Shell Refinery at Teesport, the Junction is still called Shell junction and the bridge over the Wilton branch still bears the Shell logo. Leeds Oil Rail Terminal on the Hunslett East branch from Neville Hill. Other ones are:- Killingholme Admiralty oil wharfe near Immingham, it was vintage with brick built storage tanks. Greetland junction. Appleby's at Harrogate and Scarborough, these were supplied by a block train from Stanlow that ran to York with it splitting in three portions, one for Harrogate, one for Scarborough and Heavy Fuel oil for Cleveland Potash at Boulby (another lost terminal). Various terminals in the former ICI plant at Wilton. Mark Saunders
  23. It was a BR standard and was orriginally at Cottesmore but I understand it is now on the Nene Valley Mark Saunders
  24. The NCB Ashington system had a small fleet at the end of which several are preserved! Also NCB at Westoe had a van along with Burradon. British Steel also had two at Scunthorpe of which one is preserved. Mark Saunders
