  1. Just looking at that I'm working out who's catalogue each item is from. That hut has me stumped. Maybe it's a kitbashed ratio?
  2. What worried me initially was the lack of run off. It seems the barriers may save a driver in a single excursion impact after the practice incidents though. What worries me more now is somebody losing it and getting collected by the following car(s) not being able to slow up in time. It happens on the ovals and they have comparably better sight lines and spotters that can see the whole track. Sitting down to watch quali on channel 4 last night I genuinely felt relief as the titles started as it meant nothing really horrible had happened. It's going to be a long wait until 10:30 tonight. I accept feeling like that for the TT but that is a one off event not part of a championship. I don't think a circuit like this should be part of a championship otherwise current F1 could run at Macaco or the Nordshlief.
  3. How about trying it as a well tank with a wider boiler? With twice the seam consumption you would need a significantly bigger boiler than a comparable non articulated industrial.
  4. You can bet Horner won't be calmer Not seen anything on the wings. I presume all passed the much lorded post quali checks or is that next on the stewards agenda?
  5. Continuing as I intend to go on, deviating from the second post to include something modelable rather than strictly railway related. What I presume to be an anti-aircraft emplacement by Halnaker Windmill adjacent to the Goodwood estate. https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/osmaps/50.87901470373055,-0.6925288313875626,15.532865401128445/pin/ With the Halnaker hill overlooking the former RAF Westhampnett (now Goodwood Motor Circuit) and in sight of the former RAF Tangmere (now a housing estate and an aviation museum) it would be a good position to observe and defend both. There is also what looks to be the foundations of another in an adjacent field.
  6. No wonder Max looked unhappy in all the interviews!
  7. According to F1 Verstappen is only one to have done so under double waved yellows though. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.verstappen-summoned-to-stewards-over-yellow-flags-incident-in-qatar.6UzAVRNxbo9USrKrbwcFrK.html What happens if flag was out but system that puts warning on dash is on the blink? The yellow seemed to come and go on the TV coverage.

    Final call for these.
  9. Since recently unexpectedly spending more time at home I've been walking more. Often I'll walk around and old railway infrastructure and I'll take pictures for future modelling reference. I thought I would start a thread in case I can benefit anyone else with them. It's better than them just languishing on my phone. To start with a bridge over the River Adur South of Henfield on the former LBSCR line from Shoreham to Christ's Hospital. The bridge is located here https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/osmaps/50.91047371857002,-0.29470008494763533,12.659275862088348/pin/ And now has a concrete pedestrian bridge over the top of one half. It looks as though even when in use it's strength was in question from the application of bolted reinforcement at the splices. Now, some forty plus years after closure it is rusting through although the paint still hangs on on a lot of the structure. If only modern paint was as good!
  10. That seems very logical. My memory must be going. Thank you Sagaguy.
  11. Thanks Sagaguy. The Dublo turntable is the one I'm thinking of. Window shopping track plans so don't have one to look at currently. So is there one of the roads that is defined as the entry road? I e. That power on that one will always power the turntable itself and whichever road it is turned to?
  12. Can anyone clarify the wiring on a 3 rail turntable please. I remember it was odd to someone brought up on 80's steel track 2 rail but not why! Mainly where the power should be fed in and how / if turning the table powers the selected roads.
  13. Happy customer here. Bought a super d early 2020. Lead times were a little longer than maybe is expected but was delivered within advertised time and considering casting to order pretty quick. Also had good support when I had an issue with prompt responses. No association other than as a customer.
  14. If doing this the engine should be physically turned around on the track half way through. I got asked to look at a loco that had been used on a circle of track at shows but was running funny. Turning it over it had worn to the curve such that the axles were no longer parallel! That won't happen just during running in but to get the best results it shows that curves do have an impact even in miniature and so make sure it's run in evenly.
  15. Vote for gas irons here. Always found electric too laggy. I use an antex gascat and am very happy with it. I have a box of tips for white metal, brass, general bodging and swap them in and out. There is also no lead to trip over and drag the hot iron into the carpet.
  16. Thank you but also note you have completed far more conversions than me. The updates took far longer than I'd anticipated but was one of those where once I'd committed so much time I just had to plough on. Knowing what I know now I wouldn't choose to do it again starting from that base.
  17. Thank you. It would probably have been airfix, maybe a prairie filed down. The cylinders are Dapol castle or county. Wheels are Gibson Terrier although I managed to get one of them off square so haven't really run it that much. Detailing is scraps of wire soldered together.
  18. I don't think I've posted this before. Pug bash from a Percy I did about fifteen years ago.
  19. Try the Train Collectors Society. They even let in Big Big collectors amongst their membership so aren't sniffy like the thoroughbred clubs. Their members also tend to run their stuff very regularly so always want spares.
  20. Not like for like but I've used etches from here previously in airfix buildings after careful matching up. https://www.scalelinkfretcetera.co.uk/product-category/frets/
  21. If it's magnet it will usually be accompanied by getting excessively hot while running. If it's a well loved model I'd start by stripping it down and cleaning everything, checking the electrical contacts as others have said, and then re-lubricate/reassemble. In models that have been run and cleaned regularly over a long time there is the possibility that the dreaded black gunge can build up and reduce the resistance between the chassis halves (presumably due to the carbon content) and this gives a similar symptoms to a weak magnet. In probability the above won't fix it but it only costs you time and if you manage to bring it back it saves buying a new chassis. There are many other common issues with split chassis over time, well documented on here by people more experienced than me.
  22. Albion Alloys supply miniature metal sections as well as K&S (think the latter is right, they are American so less common here). Looking through their catalogues should give you the search terms you need.

After some time away from the forum I still have left; Titans of the Track Steam Alive Regional Rounds A Passion For Steam Illustrated History of British Steam Railways If anyone wants to take them all the postage is £10.00 to a UK mainland address. Thanks
  24. I don't remember them taking that long - 1.5 weeks maybe - but it was a while ago so can't be certain. Of course I may have just been lucky.
  25. I think these might be what you are aiming for. I think the LED they use is what you have. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-OO-HO-gauge-LED-wall-ceiling-lights-Model-street-Railway-lamp-posts-R50-/152069928187?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 I've not installed mine yet but I was impressed like you when I tested then on a battery.
