  1. They will do anything for a sale these days
  2. Its a Rails project, Accurascale are 'merely' making it for them, so Rails will do the announcing. It wont be the 89 thats announced
  3. They were similar, but not the same as the ones fitted under 58's. When 56042 went to Valhalla the bogies went too
  4. Main one is the exhaust port on the silencer went from left to right. Only 59001-4 as build had it like this. Also as previously pointed out some of the 59/0's were repainted in the original livery and there were slight changes, mainly to the cantrail stripe Look here http://www.hondawanderer.com/Class_59.htm, compare 80's/early 90's pics of the 59/0's to late 90's. Not sure when it happened exactly but the 59/1 and 59/2's were built with the revised location
  5. APT-P this was, after his time. Brilliant article in an early edition of Traction about it
  6. What about the brake testing when pairs of 37's pushed an unpowered APT rake up to 100mph......
  7. I've highlighted the main issue here. Granted global issues that have happened would be unheard of 5 years ago, but normally models dont take this long to appear, at least in 2015 they didnt, but they are now, a certain Barwell based manufacturer being a good example, being rapidly followed by a Margate based one... You wont see it this side of June 2022 either, so second half maybe. By then it will be 6 years..........
  8. That wont happen again, Dapol were undergoing a period of re-organisation and felt they couldn't compete in the OO Loco market at the time, a decision that they have since reversed. They have announced the intention of a OO scale 59 for example......
  9. Correct - The first order for four Class 59s was placed on 16 November 1984 and the locomotives arrived at Southampton on 21 January 1986....... Would have taken less only the design had to fit inside the UK loading gauge, most of the components were well tried and tested
  10. It is unusual for the 'accompanying wagon range' to be announced, developed and brought to market despite a global pandemic and shipping delays due to a container ship becoming stuck, and the lead locos still being no closer to market
  11. Oh crumbs, isn't that disgraceful and naughty behaviour. You sound very cross, you should telex the local garda barracks immediately indicating your great indignation at this most heinous of actions.
  12. For those unsure about the IRM EMD soundchip, this is the perfect comparison, including the horns at each end sounding different, they had a very distinctive growl at high revs and this is heard several times throughout this video, starting at around the 6 minute mark. Depending on wind direction you could hear them a fair distance away, even miles...... Just ignore the chap hanging off the front cleaning the windscreens during the shunt at Waterford
  13. Oxford make an excellent DAF 2800 / 3300 which is ideal for this era. They also make the Scania 110 for 70's stuff, they were mostly gone by the early 80's though. Loads of Stobart Dafs going cheap at present, remove the curtainsider body and make a flatbed trailer with container locking points @JCB 3C no.2 definitely - the skelly is a gap in the market, the oxford 5 axled one aside which is a tad modern for the period
  14. But do you like the price, thats the question..... given what the SPA's were sold for originally and are not exactly the best models ever made. The VEA, 3 years later...
  15. Sure we would still be waiting for the dj version, imagine all the excuses he would use
  16. Short answer is No - avoid Hornby DCC equipment completely. They might be a leading brandname in model railways but their DCC equipment leaves a lot to be desired. My personal recommendation would be a NCE Powercab but it depends on your budget. Dont skimp on control equipment
  17. There's a reason its not done and not recommended......
  18. Very nice video - soundwise the real ones emitted a Hymek like growl up and down the rev range, curious mix of EMD and MetroVick. Another game changer here and a preview for other IRM/Accurascale locos
  19. Would not be left waiting many years for starters...
  20. Initially D400/1 came with them fitted from the factory, the other 48 followed without and had them added later, as you can see the plating where the MW jumpers will be fitted when 2 locos became standard on Crewe to Glasgow runs up to 1974 when the WCML was fully electrified
  21. Surprised given the UK Games expo was held recently at the NEC, but I'm guessing the average age of attendees was a little lower Just how it is, take nothing for granted anymore
  22. Ill wait and see what the retailers will sell them at But people will give out no matter what. The bar has been raised in RTR Diesel and Electric locos, Bachmann have reacted accordingly and people are still moaning. The way some people go on, its like saying development of the motorcar should have stopped when the Ford Model T came out and we should have stuck with them...... Cant win, even if they were half the price, or double. Same old
  23. Therein lies the problem, KMS just arent pushing this as hard as they should be. All of the stock they have that other retailers and manufacturers have sold out of attests to this
  24. More facebook spin. Not the first time they have said that
