  1. All I came here to know who knows about someone who does the SR lemon font for the 1941-1948 livery of these banana vans (along with meat, insulated, and refrigerator vans). Does the transitional pack need anything else added/removed, besides the BR font? @Jack P was sharing images from a SR book, that at least confirms that not all of these vans were repainted during that time and could be seen in cream close or up to Nationalization. With this time period, they were also moved into the common user pool, would their markings have changed at all?
  2. Hornby are doing TT scale now…. but in good news, images of the Dapol Hawthorn and Leslie sample have been shown off! (last page)
  3. Would anyone know of some lemon lettering/font sheets for changing the transitional pack to the 1941-1948 period? Should also include meat and insulated names, since those used the same livery after 1941. Edit: The banana vans were also used as common user after 1941, did they change markings at all?
  4. Whoops, I'm sorry. I guess I missed that. Thanks for not chewing me out for missing it!
  5. No one going to talk about the elephant in the room? The exposed gear?
  6. I would like to kindly remind everyone about the W1 issues were not just from external packaging, which they now changed to match the likes of Dapol and Accurascale. It was using a third party company with no qc checks for how it was being packed, and the inner "ice-cube" being too loose for the W1 being able to shift vertically and push itself against the plastic, in which the smoke deflectors broke. On top of that, the shifting also caused other parts to become tight, which caused the tender drawbar holes to snap under the pressure. According to Simon Kohler, Hornby test their boxes every direction, with the product inside, supposedly. He only said each face, which I asked about corners, which he never responded to that question. I would bet that if the W1 had this new box style, there would still be the same amount broken.
  7. And people tried to tell me I was crazy for saying the Hornby GWR coaches weren't brown because of different lighting conditions...

    Dapol 'Western'

GWR STEAM museum is taking reserves for a limited edition of D1000 in desert sand with small yellow warning panel. ₤199.95. 500 models in total. Can choose between; DCC ready, DCC fitted, and DCC sound.
  9. So 92220 is the only one with their images on Hornby’s site atm. https://uk.Hornby.com/products/br-9f-class-2-10-0-92220-evening-star-era-5-r3988 If the image is true (and like the A3’s), I do not understand why only the driving wheels have the exposed rims/tyres, compared to every wheel like Dapol does. (It sucked for the LNER A3, as they missed wheel lining, but that’s a different topic)
  10. Ah ha, that's where I missed it! Thank you!
  11. Huh! Interesting! Where was this stated? (More so I can figure out where I missed reading that. I try to be very thorough when reading their announcements)
  12. Thanks for the info on the handbrakes and No Smoking roundels. I zoomed in on the GER tramcars and can now make out the black handbrake. My bad for missing that. For the roof, in the July 15th monthly announcement they said "The roof isn't removable so this is the view of the interior you'll more likely get to see on your layout! You can almost imagine Mr Valentine leaning on the bar and telling the disgruntled passenger that yes, he does indeed own the ruddy railway". This was under the interior shot looking through the car inside the Titfield version of the tramcar. That's why I was asking if the roof is now removeable
  13. These look great! (Along with the train pack!) A few questions; Is the preserved model (no 7), the only model that has the handbrakes fitted, correct? Secondly, the little circles in the windows of the ex-LNER version (not the BR lettering one), I would assume those are non-smoking/smoking symbols? (I only see this on retailer images) Third, in one the previous announcements, Rapido had said that the roof is not removeable. Has this been changed? Or the wording should be "If you can get the roof off...."? None of these questions will have any change in outcome of my purchases, they'll still happen 😉 Thanks, Ribird
  14. And everyone should be pleased to know that Rapido has announced the GWR livery 15xx, no 1500, is moving forward now in production! (Since before it was just an expression of interest)
  15. Thanks John for the info. I thought I had needed to move the "Tare 25-0-0" to above the number. But looking through other similar livery products, I can see exactly what you mean. I just didn't want to assume anything before doing something wrong. Railtec also has an assortment of SR letters in a sheet.
  16. Tried that, only GWR show up on Fox transfers Both are for the pre-1936 livery/markings, hence the huge SR
  17. If one would want to convert 38-916 SECR Brown Dance Hall Van from a pre-1936 livery to a post-1936, where would I find these markings? Or if any key terms to look up on the usual transfer sites?
  18. Reading this, they now have "admitted" that they gave retailers too large of allocations to begin with, thus needing to shrink the numbers. And even that, they had to do it twice? Like everyone has discussed, for at least other companies, when making a production run, you always say you want x number made of each product. If you want to capitalize on popular products, you either add more quantities or subtract from somewhere else. Since now stated, Hornby could not add more. So where did the added quantities come from, retailer allocations, as we all know now, or that's what I assumed (which is never good for a customer to start assuming things). Another option could have been, change quantities being produced of not-as-popular products. This email response only talks about the second reduction and not even the first one they couldn't even meet. And that everything leads down to human error. That's their reasoning. Please do correct me if I'm wrong on how I interpreted this. I do feel bad as the retailers are feeling the blunt while all cut allocations can be still bought on Hornby for full price.
  19. Yes, the fittings should be green. That's all I was looking for, thank you. The regular release of the Bachmann 94xx has the doors as green. 9400, in real life, has black doors (and the Bachmann NRM 9400 release reflects that). I always love seeing the original livery 9400 was preserved as
  20. I know this is just the first render and a what if livery (others please correct me on this on what colours they should be.) Shouldn't the extra bits be in green as well? Like the whistle shield, water cap, vents, and cab doors etc. I know the Bach 94xx's were in green. (NRM 9400 has black doors)
  21. Rapido has shared a render of the GWR 15xx in GWR green to gauge if there is any interest in them producing this livery. Here is what they have said on their site: "Continuing our ‘what if?’ theme we thought we would give GWR era modellers the opportunity to add a 15xx to their collection. The 15xx was actually designed and ordered by the GWR – but delivered to the fledgling British Railways in 1949. Had nationalisation occurred later, or not at all this might have been! We require a minimum number of orders before this product can proceed. If you would like to place an expression of interest please do so using the form below – if we reach sufficient orders by the time the order book closes on the 1st September we will email you to allow you to place your order as the model enters production." You can register your interest here: https://rapidotrains.co.uk/br-15xx-pannier-tank/ (Just scroll down to the bottom). I know I certainly would love one of these. I already planned on taking the plain 15xx and repainting into this livery. With my plan, I was hoping the BR smokebox number plate would be easy to remove, with this, I wouldn't have to worry about anything! 😁

  23. Also received my Deltic from RoS with an overseas shipment! Surprisingly all in one piece! (Expect the step I knocked off, whoops! Thankfully found it!) I won’t spam the photos, but absolutely love all the little details! The cab and engine is something I enjoy the most! Almost feels too detailed to pick up from anywhere! Heaviest loco by far and a super quiet runner. (I did have the glue spot on two tyres from the same axle set. Must have been a batch of wheels that glue were on it and was luck of the draw of where they ended up. The only things I can note for my loco only, 3 out of the 4 corners near the handrails have an issue. 1 of them has a small scratch, and the 2 others have excess paint glue around the holes for the handrails. Secondly, the packaging has wore off the yellow paint on the mainline light (I apologize for not the correct terminology). I know it is the packaging as there’s flakes of yellow paint right where it was touching. I’ve noticed other paint flakes (orange and white) in the packaging but could not find any other spots missing paint. I’ll be copying this into an email for Accurascale with the pictures I took of the damage. Don’t take me wrong here, I’m still beyond happy and will easily fix the issues when I get around to it. This is a superb model and cannot wait for future products from Accurascale.
  24. From what he has shown me, on a good chunk of the loco is full coverage, cleaned off, then lightly sprayed back in certain areas, like rivets and edges of tenders. But does depend on the look he going for. *full coverage doesn't mean a heavy spray. He really has mastered what he does.
  25. Jack loves spraying gloss on anything he gets his hands on 😉 From what he has shown me, Jack barely uses any powders, more for very certain parts (@Jack P correct me if I'm wrong)
