  1. Let's not forget their "estimated" arrival dates they announced for this years products. Almost all were slated for this year, now all of them are pushed back. Yes, the world has been crazy for the last 2+ years, which Hornby knew that, so why make unrealistic dates that they knew they would never meet? (I do appreciate all other manufactures that have pages dedicated for where in the process each product is at) What Hornby wants to keep "in house" and what they want to give retailers should be set in stone when they announce each year, not like they have been doing for the last two years, change allocations many times causing this confusion and stress. Or change individual "popular" products and have mass panics as everyone tries to get that one product. I'm looking specifically at the W1, original Rocket packs, and the one-pack of the LMR Rocket wagon. You could say they wanted the guaranteed money they saw, but as all of these discussions are, just rumours or theories. Like this next statement, which I would love to learn more about, is that Hornby is given a certain production slot to make x amount, but can only make y. Or even Hornby can't provide the necessary materials on time, which could be themselves or the crazy nature of the world right now. As discussed in other threads and old news, Kernow doesn't have any 2022 pre-orders available for this exact reason. (Just a note, not related to allocation cuts, the P2 and 9F's are not even close for even last year announcement. And just like the BR Blue MN, the Malachite Lord Nelson, if timelines stay, won't release until 3 years after announcement) Another note for retailers' allocations being cut, I haven't seen any mention of the LNER Coronation stock yet, but you can't even order the full rake on Hornby's site, the observation coach is all sold out. I really feel bad for everyone affected by this and the retailers who get the hardest with these kinds of business decisions. I'm glad I only have a few items from Hornby, but I will guess like everyone else, preorders they can't simply go to another company or kit built well (P2's and Coronation Stock)
  2. Looks to have moved to Q3 according to Accurascale https://www.accurascale.com/en-us/pages/project-status
  3. What I was trying to say, even the Hattons pictures aren't accurate, the saturation changes between the single release coaches and the pack. The only true way to tell, according to your points, is to compare the terrier pack coaches with other Hornby coaches. I'm looking at other's images of the pack, and they are certainly a green-ish colour. Both Kernow and Olivia's show the weird green colour we have been discussing. I'm not sure how my images, with different lighting conditions, can be classified as incorrect information?
  4. Terrier pack in person is awful, as my images have shown in different lighting conditions. If we really want to compare coaches, someone with other modern Hornby GWR coaches, with the GWR terrier pack as well, should take some pictures together. That would really show any problems with lighting, as you've argued against, as Hattons product images really do vary. The two links you sent, the saturation is different, just look at the rails. All in all, what reality has given from Hornby is not what the packing shows. Before anyone says, "why did you get then?" I wanted a good colour and tooling base for GWR No 5. I could care less about the coaches as they were always going to end up on the lineside in favour of Hattons coaches.
  5. At least the Bachmann models are still getting use 😜
  6. Just to show another lighting picture, here is direct sunlight from this morning. Hopefully this is a bit better to show the true nature of the colour. No flash, just sunlight @NHY 581 Thanks @Steamport Southportfor the link, I’ll check them out now. Funny enough, I have a factory error 2662 that would be perfect donor for No 5, as my 2662 doesn’t have rivets on the smoke box, which I’ve mentioned previously in this thread. Idk why I didn’t think of just repainting that, oh well. The current No5 is a better base to repaint. I was aiming for 1946-48, which I believe might had the condensing pipes removed, but not sure.
  7. I couldn’t contest to the green vs brown of the coaches, as I didn’t receive my pack until tonight, but I’ll have to agree with @MG 7305, these are definitely more green than brown, as seen below. Also provided are the images I took of the locomotive and coaches. I’m picky with my GWR/BR paints, so I’ll nick pick on the shade of green, super light as always for Hornby. I’ll fix it with a custom mix I’ve came up with, once I have replacement plates from somewhere.
  8. Now the question, where can I get etched plates for this GWR terrier? Would love to make a proper rendition of this, including some of the fixes I talked about in my previous comment
  9. That thistle looks superb on there. Is that the Precision one with the pin removed?
  10. Kernow has some lovely images of the new GWR Terrier pack in all its glory. https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/69998/R3960-Hornby-GWR-Terrier-Train-Pack---Era-3
  11. The GWR terrier has as followed: brass painted condensing pipes (unlike the lack of pipes in the official images) short SR lamp irons (should be GWR ones) no rivets on the smokebox door straps black Westinghouse pump (idk proper colour) correct chimney hose is on wrong side of bufferbeam Coaches are the same overall printing, just with a shirtbutton emblem instead. A friend shared his images with me, as mine hasn't arrived yet. Overall impressions of the train pack looks to be really good! Green looks to be decent! I know I'm nick picking it, but everything mentioned can be easily changed if incorrect. It looks damn good 😃
  12. The GWR Train pack has now arrived and started to ship from retailers.
  13. Question about something I've noticed about the 30xx ROD's. When did they get smokebox door straps? Originally I would have said at Nationalization, but here's this picture with an unknown date: Warwickshire Railways. (Here is a clear photo of the original style door on the 30xx's: Door) The Bachmann GWR green version has the door without straps. BR version does, as seen on @gwrrob
  14. It is really odd indeed! Good catch with the P2 sample! The front pony is different than the A3 just released, and obviously different than the W1. So that's mean there's "3" different driving wheels types for the A3/A4s haha! And at least "3" front bogie types.
  15. They look to be the same on the LNER version, BUT they are missing the black lining on the driving wheels. The front bogie wheels have the correct lining. I think the larger bare metal looks worse, not because it looks bad, because not every wheel is like that, like on the Dapol steam locos, but that is just my opinion. As for the A4's I hope they reused the rebuilt W1 wheels, as those are brilliant. Idk why they didn't use them for the A3's as well. (If there is no detail differences between the two sets)
  16. Rails now has an exclusive BR maroon Dynamometer Car which can be found here: https://railsofsheffield.com/blogs/news/exclusive-dynamometer-car To be clear, this is a what if livery. (Image from Rails of Sheffield)
  17. Lovely artwork, but with a quick bit of research (as I don't much about the LNER), shouldn't all the O2/4 variants have the same boiler and fireboxes? As well as, shouldn't the O2/4's also have the extended smokebox due to having the 100A boiler during Thompson standardization? What examples I am looking at is the LNER O2/4 3479, BR O2/4 63924, and BR O2/1 63923, along with the other variant exmaples.
  18. Lovely new second video! Was that David himself doing the voiceover? @rapidoandy The video for everyone:
  19. Check the back to back on the wheels, that was the main reason why mine were clicking. Like back to back, not just the outside rims, but the inside areas, as I found they were quite wobbly even after a couple of sessions with the back to backs. Another thing that may be is the eccentric rod bracket was not properly installed. Also, the main driving wheels might have its main pin pushed in too far. Seems like the factory was rushing these out and not pushing them in their correct angles, such stripping out the holes (and lack of a glue).
  20. I know the Simplified Chocolate and Cream Railmotor (K2302) will look really good against the post-war GWR coaching stock! 😉 (Though not quite the same) If anyone wants to see the artwork closer than the blog page has shown, each product page has the artwork in the images.
  21. Ok, I kept looking. I think one of the yard entrances is still there, the second image with the yellow striped pole. As for the coach, I believe that has been long gone, even before google started doing their street view. I don't have Google Earth Pro, so it might show up on the past aerials. There is a gangway coach that has been floating around the yard since the beginning of the photos. This looks to be the one you can see from the highway on the street view, but all covered up. Photo from the 2009 street view
  22. Yes I know, but my bad for not stating you can only see it still on the Apple maps, without time traveling on google.
  23. Hmmm! I do wonder what number the BSK was and why it was there! I guess that will be lost to history! Thank you though! Definitely found a similar yard to what you are showing, but the only defining features in the photos I can't seem to find on google anymore. But the yard is a big one!
  24. Ah cool! Do you recall any more information on the BSK in St Louis? I seem to have missed this BCK in Los Angeles in this list, but seems to have been scrapped after Universal Studios upgraded the park. https://features.rcts.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/preserved-coaches/2013/Preserved_Coaching_Stock_of_British_Railways_-_Part_One_-_Jul_2013.pdf
