    Dapol 'Western'

@cctransuk thank you! That will be a last resort! @Phil Bullock Sounds good for pushing the sides out first before the front. I checked the site last night and there was no results for the glazing, but definitely wipers. I'll shoot them an email, as I'm not in the country. As for the body mouldings, I had no idea! But would Dapol have released a post-1973 clip body in maroon? I don't even know where to look for those clips.

    Dapol 'Western'

Hello all, I just recently purchased and received my Dapol OO Western King from Cheltenham Models for a really good price. One thing I did not know, that has now screwed me, is that two of the three exclusive BR maroon 52's have the experimental wipers, which one of them is Western King, the one I bought. (EDIT: I’ve read that the third exclusive for Cheltenham has additional vents and extra etched BR plate). Not saying the model is wrong, just my mistake. It is a beautiful model and having all those small parts on top fitted already is a godsend. The plan was for this model, was to rename into Western Champion in its preservation form (I know she is currently in Chromatic Blue as of 2021) The front glazing seems to be one piece that can be pushed inwards to pop out. Wipers are separately fitted. I am wondering if the cab glazing is (or was) available to purchase? I know I can find the wipers on DCC Supplies. (I've tried searching the topic, but all I get is the headcode glazing issues) I have not emailed them about said glazing, yet, as I wanted everyone's expertise first. Thank you!
  3. Both non-sound models look to be sold out and removed from the LT store.
  4. Did they mention anything about those vertical rivets? Or is still the older ep? Everything else on this ep is fantastic! Look at the details on the bogie!
  5. I can't answer for if the glazing is good or not, but here is what the Railcar looks like under a low sun on an iPhone. I think it looks alright in my opinion.
  6. Thanks Robin for the clarification of the livery for the Heljan Railcar! It arrived safety and seems to be a really good model! In the same order I received the Kernow LSWR roadvan and Hornby K1. Also received separately in the last week or so, is the IOW exclusive EFE Rail/Kernow O2 "Calbourne"
  7. Ah thank you! I think where the confusion lies in my head, is what livery they first received, which was the shirtbutton, not 'Great Western.' Those two words threw me off! My apologies! Did any of the razor railcars make it to Brent? Also, nice seeing your locos and layout now on the gwr.org.uk site Robin!
  8. Hi all, Ribird again with another question. I'm looking to buy this Heljan Railcar, but wondering about what needs to be changed livery wise for a 1947 livery. Wasn't finding any notes on gwr.org. Would there be a second yellow line added, similar to the coach livery? Or just a simple switch to the twin cities crest? Kernow Link for Heljan Railcar Kernow Link for Dapol Railcar
  9. I know nothing about most coaches (need to learn eventually), but Hattons has some bargains for GWR Collet and Hawksworth coaches for about ₤31 a piece in the bundles, and ₤33 individually. Hattons: Hornby GWR Collett 57' (shirtbutton livery) Hattons: Hornby BR Collett & Hawksworth Coaches
  10. If any interest here, the new Bachmann Autumn 2021 announcement has one GWR item: (37-936) a 3 Plank Wagon GWR grey with 'GWR' brown BD container. Here's a link to Rails or Kernow. There's also a nice newly tooled two tone green 47 for ₤203. For a reminder, the Planet Industries Victory class orders will go to full price on Monday August 9th. Website (from £115 to £130 for DCC ready). You either can pay in full or a £30 deposit. Another, the SECR wagons order books will be closed on September 1st. Don't know how that will work for other sites besides Rapido's own site. On Rapido's, they are £32.95, while they are discounted on Rails for £27.95.
  11. That is still something! I've seen so many videos of people doing that same thing and shaky as can be!
  12. Video has worked now! It is a great video! Got to hand it to you, some nice steady camera handling with trains moving! Very nice to see this layout moving!
  13. Hi David, The link did not work, as you copied a link of your edit studio video on youtube, not the video itself. The link should be like https://youtube.com/watch(and then a bunch of letters and numbers). I do hope to see the update on your layout! Always nice to see!
  14. Not saying to do this, but an idea I would like to try myself whenever I get around to building a layout with a turntable, is to power the outside track, instead of having a reverse module. I do not know how well this would work with lighted/sound locos. Might be a flicker when the polarity switches? The track would be split in half, which would change the direction of polarity as you rotate the table. Left half would be "positive", the right side being "negative". Each rail is attached to a brass wiper under each end of the table which contact the support rail, which is in fact two semi-circular rails wired one to each rail of the approach track. In that way power is carried to the turntable track, and polarity reverses as the table rotates 180 degrees. Attached a rough drawing of the split for your current set up. The kit you found does look great already! And looks to be a somewhat easy fitment?
  15. But for £36.95? And being a Dapol wagon? Not sure if that is a good deal or not. Do correct me if it is.
  16. Just making sure I'm understanding, for the flywheels and worm, not just front to back position, but the position of the start of the worm, correct? And you never know, might just be something not jiving inside, and turns out to be an easy fix (unlikely)
  17. Thank you! I will keep this in mind whenever I take this beast apart! Already tried returning this once and was denied at customs for some reason! I can tell the motor is the problem, as the wheels barely make any noise. Motor bogs down with any friction on the wheels, along with hating going backwards. Is there a motor spec number anywhere? I will have a go at removing of everything myself, as not in UK.
  18. Thank you! By far the most information I've seen on this! Yes I do have a bad motor from the sounds of it, not sure where to get a replacement motor.
  19. How easy is it getting into the motor?
  20. A powered sample of Hornby's upcoming LNER W1 has been shared on here. The livery shown is the Apple Green livery. The comments from the poster are negative, mainly to the weight of the loco and the back set of bogie wheels. (Last page or Page 21). The model only could pull 6 coaches on the level. I would assume that the boiler could be filled with weights, if this was a fluke being a painted sample (or early production sample). The back two wheels will probably need complete retrofit to look better going around curves (if even possible given the locomotive length). Opinions?
  21. Depends on how far it was sticking out. I believe this is the sharpest #4014 can go around. Time stamp of 4:40 is when she starts to go around the curve. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAlK61l6yQI&t=280s Hey @micklner, have you ever shared images of what you did for the back bogie on your W1's? I bet after the W1 release, somebody will be making a kit to make this Hornby one better....
  22. Could always rule one Slap a shirtbutton or GWR crest on it and call it good! That's what I'm planning. Like @gwrrob said, too nice not to get!

    Little Muddle

Hey @KNP which Railmotor are you going for? Kernow Page
  24. Kernow has now received and assembled their Railmotor project. Updates on rm are here (page 15). While a direct link to the project page is here. Below is the picture Kernow have shared with us. I have the K2302 on order which is the late 1920's livery. The crimson livery does look stunning on the real thing. Overall, these look fantastic, might want two of them. Just wish we had some proper matching rtr coaches.
