Look out for the knackered box but great condition locos/stock inside. I've found early 00s Bachman/Heljan stuff falls into this category & you can grab yourself a great deal!
Buyer sends 2 blunt messages instantly after winning one of my items.
One demands I pack each wagon separately & carefully: No you'll get each one wrapped carefully within a larger bubblewrapped box.
The second demanding I ship them within a day: I can ship within the given ebay timeframe.
Buyer then never leaves feedback. Talk about taking & not giving!
Reminds me of what happened in Redhill. They had an old cinema (Odeon), then nightclub (Embassy/Liquid) which had a listed front entrance.
Sold to tower block developers who were supposed to keep the facade. They propped it up with supports while they cleared the site. Then it mysteriously "fell down" & within 12 months the Trump-esque tower block had appeared.
Lots of the small Airfix starter kits are based on ancient mouldings. When a younger kid tries to model the subject, he/she will be frustrated by the panel gaps, warped plastic and fiddliness that it might put them off Airfix 🤣
Not a major bug but seems to becoming more common even on lower priced listings. One of my items listed starting at £35 auction with no offers accepted. For an excellent condition, good running Lima with box I think that's a bargain in the current times.
Buyer with low feedback asks; "Would you accept £24.40 + postage?".
My reply; "Thank you for your message. If you're keen please see the item & bid so you get in early".
Buyer; "Would you accept £28 + postage?"
I've not yet replied as buyer will inevitably come back & propose another lower offer. Just bid on the item if you desperately want it!!!!
A couple of my embedded searches from my Flickr. You'll get TONS of great pictures & inspiration...
The whole Silvertown/Victoria Dock area fascinates me so your location will be fun to model!
VIA Rail in Canada still run RDCs in pairs with one passenger RDC & one baggage RDC together to Sudbury.
If you manage to spot another there's a perfect prototypical train.
I avoid anything lower than 2nd radius for HO scale locos as anything smaller they derail on.
If it were me I'd add a TINY bit of exhaust dirt to the fans & grilles but very little.
