  1. The Class 24 was being sold via auction on eBay. One day, I happened to come across it while looking for new locomotivs for the layout. I looked at the photos and it appeared to be in good condition. The model was of D5061, a loco that is now preserved. Although it was missing a lot of detailing, I thought I would be able to buy some from somewhere such as Peter's Spares or from Bachmann themselves. I thought it would be a good addition to the layout and so I bid for it. The day that the auction ended came and I kept a close eye on it especially near the time the auction ended. I was outbid twice but I soon got back into the race by bidding more money. Eventually, the last minute of the auction came and I put my bid up just in case someone tried to bid for it. Someone did in the last few seconds and then, it was over. I was certain that the person who bid for it would win, but did they bid enough to overtake my bid? No, they did not. I won the bid £3 away from losing to the person who bid a few seconds before the auction ended. Immediately after this, I purchased the locomotive and then patiently waited for its arrival.
  2. Why do people sell them with bits missing? Can't they add the parts themselves?
  3. When I'm going out on train, I always buy return tickets. I have a railcard as well which makes the journeys I make a little bit cheaper. Don't know how I'd manage with return tickets.
  4. My Bachmann Class 24 came today. It's missing lots of small details though such as cab handrails, headcode discs, and various bits of pipeworks. I already have headcode discs, I've ordered the cab handrails and I'll order the pipework on Friday.
  5. Someone modelled Harworth engine sheds on the Keighley Worth Valley Railway and it looks spot on! There is a lot of detail.
  6. It's not been run yet. It'll have to wait until next week: I'm busy during the weekend so I won't get the chance to but I may be able to run it on Sunday.
  7. Got a bit of a story. I got an email yesterday to remind me that a Mainline J72 I purchased was waiting collecting at Argos. So, I went to Argos to pick up, what I presumed, was the J72. When I got there I gave them the FM code and the woman who served me got out a rather large box. I thought "That box is a bit big just for a small loco" anyway, went back home with the new loco in hand and opened the box. However, upon emptying the box I was taken by surprise: This was definitely NOT the locomotive I'd ordered. But, I had ordered 75029 (which is what the model is of) earlier on in the week and had a separate email for it. So I was left thinking that this was the model I'd ordered and eBay sent the wrong email or the person who was supposed to send me the J72, sent me this instead. However, 3hrs ago I got this email: These are the guys who were supposed to send me the J72. What's the parcel? The J72 I didn't receive on Sunday. So I'm now guessing the model I got yesterday is the model of 75029 I've ordered and eBay sent me the wrong email by mistake.
  8. A slightly rubbish photo of Class 37/2 37218 stabled in the sidings opposite platform 11 at York yesterday (04/02/23). My phone's camera doesn't work that well in the dark and struggles to focus. This was the best I got.
  9. Class 37/0 37075 stabled at Haworth loco sheds on the KWVR yesterday (04/02/23). Keeping the 37 company are Class 144 'Pacer' 144011 and L&YR Class 25 0-6-0 52044, whose chimney is just visible between the two.
  10. Class 08 08266 waits for the level crossing gates to open at Oakworth today (04/02/23).
  11. Just visible behind the trees, Class 08 08993 rests at Harworth engine sheds on the Keighley Worth Valley Railway today (04/02/23).
  12. I've just been through one hell of an auction for a Class 24.
  13. I'm visiting the Keighley Worth Valley Railway tomorrow (which will be my first time to the railway) and I'll be visiting Oxenhope first. I'll have the chance to see the real 51218 and compare the model to the prototype. I won't be taking the model along with me though. That's staying on the layout.
  14. D9002 King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry? It was mainline certified for a while before being put on static display in the NRM.
  15. I've found 75029 and 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley on eBay. I've also found 76079 but it has the wrong BR emblem on the tender. I've bid for 75029, it ends in 1hr and 21 mins. I hope I win it.
  16. Been a while since I've updated the page but I have the first loco for the layout: L&YR Class 21 0-4-0ST 51218 The real loco visited the line in the autumn of 2001. Although photos and videos of its visit are scarce, I've found a few. I've also began assembly of 926 and 76079 but I've not progressed too far with them.
  17. Bit of an update on 51218: It recently has had a service, i.e gears lubricated and wheels cleaned, and it now runs a lot better than it did when I first got it. Here's a photo from when I had it running on the freight only line after its service. It'll also be the first loco for Grosmont MPD when I get the layout out from storage. I recently discovered that the 'pug' visited the NYMR in the autumn of 2001.
  18. I've seen 80135, 80136, 75029 and 76079 for sale on ebay. I haven't done anything to the layout since I last posted or bought anything as it's currently in storage.
  19. I'm going to the Keighley Worth Valley Railway on Saturday and I might visit Oakworth. If you need any photos of anything there, I'll happily take some for you.
  20. 47798 Prince William in the Railway Museum at York on 03/12/22.
  21. Another WCRC 47, 47245, stabled in the loco sidings opposite platform 11 earlier on during the same day.
  22. WCRC 47812 passes through York with the Northern Belle on 03/12/22.
  23. A couple of D9002 (55002) King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry on display in The Flying Scotsman Story at the Railway Museum in York on 03/12/22
