  1. Can't we just say "hey, Hornby did well for a bit" and be happy about it?
  2. My vote is for the Kato "N" re-railer, best one I've used...
  3. "Does this handkerchief smell like chloroform to you?"
  4. My Next Layout, after this one is finished, is intended on being New Romney & Littlestone on Seas's track plan (*) moved slightly further up the coast to Dymchurch, because I want to build That Church and the Ship Inn, and have a Martello tower in the background. Depending upon the time period I end up with I may even have some Z gauge RH&D trackage... (*) _With_ the turntable shown on the old OS maps
  5. You mean, do they have the most pants pants?
  6. Confession: I like the Beatles wagons, but then I grew up listening to the Beatles whilst going to visit the RH&D... And the wagons are great fun, in fact endless fun in the shunting layout: First put in alphabetical order. Then in order of Release Date. Then in alphabetical order of First Track. Then in order of Album Running Time... Then, for want of an argument: In order of Best To Least Best...
  7. I think I'll go give my Hattons Originals a hug; some of the best items I've spent money on...
  8. What gets me as strange is that the Double Doors were properly tooled up on the shorties, but when they tooled the full length mk3s they didn't factor that into the equation. So it was worth tooling up *once*... And the "royal train add-on coach pack" goes for silly money on ebay. I know its Silly Money because i've not bought one yet.
  9. I've a set of eye-teeth here ready to swap for such.. I'd rather run my two Shorty mk3s (with the double doors) than the longer rake of correct-length mk3s for a royal train because, more than anything, the Double Doors are what makes them look royal...
  10. I understand people saying that everyone wants A1/3 other than FS, but poor ol' Lemberg is sitting in the Hornby sale, and has been repeatedly discounted over the last few months by all and sundry; the livery is almost good looking enough to make a Southern fan like me drop £150 quid on one....
  11. Oh this is an open goal, The Meerkat wants to remove a squeak! Oh :)
  12. Do you want fries with that?
  13. I've worked out Hornby's planning strategy! I've been reading the 1960s Railway Modellers and people keep suggesting locos to be made RTR... Locos like the W1 and the Locomotive, (someone was also begging for a Double Fairly, but obviously someone else beat Hornby to it). So, if you Really want that One-Of-A-Kind, you only have to wait 60 years!
  14. I've got some similar trackage on my current layout and I'm intending spreading Woodland Scenics Foam Putty between parallel Unitrack, then copydexing a layer of ballast on top of that, so it doesn't seem like such a dip between the tracks where, I think, it would be just be ballast all the way up. I find the Foam Putty is lovely to work with, light weight and finger-friendly. Looking at track in the UK, the ballast between tracks can peak up. What I don't want to do is use more ballast than I would have using Peco track!
  15. I dunno, after using Kato unitrack (both N and HO/OO I don't know if I ever want to go back. Freed from the pain and angst of attaching & wiring point motors is such a breath of fresh air; and I don't have to worry that I'll ruin the paintwork with one careless drop of PVA and ballast... But that's me :)
  16. that's where I think you're giving other users of the road short shrift. its not just vehicles that need to know where you're going..
  17. oh go on, please tell us that you're only going to use one colour, and then sell them on...
  18. yes... however that requires both 360 degree vision and infinite patience to be sure of..
  19. Rails are asking nigh on £400 for one.. https://railsofsheffield.com/collections/pre-owned/products/pre-owned-hm-the-queens-platinum-jubilee-west-country-no-70-elizabeth-ii-steam-locomotive
  20. Darn Bought two and had no real issues, all pieces, instructions etc... bought a couple more and, lo and behold, no instructions. Grr. Arg. Oh. Yes .. and no roof. Bother(*) (*) Word adjusted from actual word spoken...
  21. We, speaking on behalf of the millions(*), desire, nay, need an LBSC brake van to go behind all these Stroudly liveried Terriers pulling these coal wagons about. (*) Ok, maybe thousands...
  22. Have I asked for an N Schools Class "Harrow" yet? Hmm. Don't think so... Schools class "Harrow" please.
