  1. Argos 1993 Autumn Winter Argos 1994 Autumn Winter InterCity 225 set. Hornby Thomas Clockwork Goods set red playtrains (original one) track. And the 1993 Hornby station tunnel car park used as the storage case with the footbridge as the handle a very nice set musical set I think. Edit no the musical set was the Hornby 1995 Thomas and Friends musical set the same toolings used here for the tunnel cat park station footbridge that became the travel case. Off topic but railway related Wow memories! I had that remote control Thomas for my 4th birthday 1995 I remember the remote control cable not stretching out very far about 30cm so you literally had to walk very fast when you operated it forward I have a photo of me with it somewhere from when I originally received it as a gift!. The Cadbury Dairy Milk minatures chocolate chimney (Which Hornby made I believe don't quote me on that one though!) I had that too about 1998. When I started I did put 10ps in Yes but soon I just wanted the chocolates so instead of 10p coins I put in the same 2p everytime. I had that Noddy car aswell about 1992. That miniture cadbury chocolate shop from 1993 at £14. That looks amazing! Toys of today are sadly not like this now! I wonder if Hornby made that? as they did? the chocolate chimney!
  2. Here you are Ben Argos Superstore catalogue Autumn Winter 1995! And Argos Autumn Winter 1999. I did originally think of posting the cover of the Argos catalogues but thought no.
  3. The Hornby Intercity 225 train set was featured in the Autumn Winter 1995, Autum Winter 1996 and Autumn Winter 1997 catalogues alongside the industrial freight set in 1996 and 1997 for 1998 I think it was the Eurostar set with the Industrial Freightset from 1997 and 1998. In 1995 ( I was three or four then ) there was a BBC Radio 1 Intercity 225 train set as part of a phone in competition or something. I think it was rather special even though it just appeared to be no other than just with a BBC Radio one logo sticker just placed on the box, and some documentation paperwork or and a certificate that was signed by someone but I don't remember who. Here is the Hornby train sets from the Argos Autumn Winter 1997 catalogue. And the Hornby sets from the Argos Autumn Winter 1998 catalogue.
  4. I might add the Hornby products from the Argos catalogues until the 1980-1990s. If there are any uncatalogued from the offical Hornby catalogues. Yes the inflation is interesting it also interesting through the catalogues the prices of other Hornby toy Brands throughout the decades and years. Scalextric Pound Puppies etc. Not only Hornby Hobbies products (off topic) but other fantastic British toys Casdon a British company based Est in 1946 in Blackpool Lancashire were fantastic. They made (still do to this day) replica Flymo lawnmowers Electrolux vacuum cleaners, Creda Cookers Hoover Washing Machines Hotpoint dishwashers etc and other branded licensed brands such as Dyson Beldray Morphy Richards etc an endless list of role play toys that look and worked just like their real life actual models. Shop cash registers, with branded licenced food Weetbix Daz Persil Mr Kipling etc power tools petrol station pumps BP branded. Quite reasonable prices as well for the top quality of toys. Then to compare them to The prices of real everyday items old washing machines fridges etc. Household items. Etc it's a time capsule of British Culture themselves.
  5. Me as well I'm looking forward to receiving this beautiful locomotive! Although I'll probably be just as excited or possibly just ever so slightly more for my BR Class 370 APT-P or BR Class 91 with the MK4 DVT and MK4 coach rolling stock! ( Original INTERCITY 225).
  6. Another thing that me is when I see an InterCity 125 train set not necessarily Hornby maybe an old Lima set appear ("on a well known auction site") but instead of it containing a MK3 Coach or carriages it comes with a canablised MK2B coach or coaches or someother totally different unsuitable rolling stock such as Hopper wagons . Or when they incorrectly sell a InterCity 125 set and they've incorrectly labeled as InterCity 225s and vice versa. I've even seen someone taling a BR Class 43 HST dummy power car on a LNER B12 steam freight train No no no I felt like using my own correct rolling stock and jumping through my monitor or phone to correct it myself!
  7. R777 High Speed Train Set from 1988 ( was it also available in 1989 possibly?) Uncatalogued not in the Hornby catalogues but must have been a retail exclusive, mail order catalogue exclusive or whatever. I don't know why this slipped my mind until now! but here it is. It is identical to the R693 High Speed Train Set of 1988 and 1989 (only with one MK3 carriage and not two). It has the rolling stock contents of the Hornby catalogued sets of 1977, 1978-1979, 1982- 1983 and 1984 and 1985 HST train sets. Two power cars and a MK3 Coach oval of track and controller. ( I often wonder why this set and these other HST Train Sets only had 1 MK3 Coach instead of two? As two MK3 coaches came with the 1980 -1981, 1986-1987, 1988-1989, 1990-1992 HST Hornby Catalogued Train sets , (1996-97 uncatalogued InterCity 125 set) (not the Hornby catalogued 1996 20th Anniversary High Speed Train 125 set 3 mk3s and 1 a buffet car).
  8. Well it's the last Friday of November and no edition this month? Did I miss something?
  9. I'm probably in the minority here. We know there are reasonable reasons for long delays for new models. Don't the long delays anticipate you more eagerly for them they do Me! The suspense the excitement and all that? I don't mind long delays it adds to the I wonder how such and such will look etc. I assume the contents of the 2022 catalogue will all have fully arrived by January 2026!

Yes James these are two of my favorites HST franchise regions liveries from the very start of the Privatisation Era! Yes a proper 1983 InterCity Executive livery would be nice without the InterCity 125 filled in white and with correct MK3s. I never really got why since 2008 Hornby did not release the BR Class 43 power cars alongside some MK3 coaches as a train pack Yes the price would be more perhaps because it was the newly tooled model and the price wouldn't attract the collection who possibly just wanted the power cars separate from the MK3 carriages. Or even in 2019 when the HST power cars was reintroduced into the RailRoad range in the original BR Blue Grey livery that could have been made up into a train pack with the older toolings for MK3s perhaps the powecars alongside TF a TS and TRSB perhaps for people on a lower budget or someone new to the hobby or a small child who loves InterCity 125s. Especially as these locomotives were released as train pack (I have these both new when they were on sale with Hatton's) with the correct suitable passenger coach and freight rolling stock.

Oh I didn't notice that this HST had two TGS MK3s it looked like a TS MK3! It also looks like there is no TRSB coach.

Sorry I didn't engage the date of the photo with the events! Yes it was a few years before the IC 125 acquired rolling stock.

A FGW HST at Newton Abbot from June 2012. Quite a rare shot as one of the MK3 coaches is in the original BR Class 41 HST protype liveries perhaps a loan from the InterCity 125 group. Original Image © The Railway Center . com 2012 2021 All Rights Reserved.
  14. Ah So this was John Lewis's 1980 Television Christmas Advert!

Oh thanks for the spoiler! I'm three weeks behind on this TV series! Oh here was I thinking the 2008 retool could not be topped! So I'm guessing now my swallow livery with buffers, the unbuffered swallow livery my eastern region, HST 40th anniversary HST , with the 5 MK3 coaches ( anyone know why they never made 8 for this one) . Executive livery LNER Farewell GWR first and last and the 2021 FGW purple HST sets won't be as good?
  19. Ah typo apologies I ment to say to navigate on 2nd radius! I really should type more slowly!
  20. Hello Hornby first issued a BR MK3 Coach in 1977 alongside newly tooled BR Class 43 HST power cars. The incorrect seven sided window was produced instead of 8 to allow the carriage to be used on smaller curved 3rd radius OO Gauge track without derailing.
  21. Following on here are all of the listed Argos Hornby products train sets locomotives and accessories from 1973 until 1979 Hornby products appeared in both Spring and Summer and Autumn Winter editions until 1980 where they only appeared in Autumn and Winter catalogue.
  22. I have had a look through the 1970s Argos catalogues archive and I think I may have found the answers in 1975 and 1976 they had a Hornby freight train set with a BR Hymek Class 35 in BR Blue and in 1973 and 1974 Argos sold a Hornby Flying Scotsman set so it could be possible that newer stock arrived and you had the substitute from the next year or year before I don't know though I may be completely wrong haha! and of course a favourite Hornby disclaimer of mine used then and now today and what seems forever "colours and contents of wagons may differ from those illustrated".
  23. I'd take it all releases dates with a small drop of 1984 British Rail coffee! The releases dates are all over the place at the moment the Summer 2022 section has some products in the banners as Winter 2021/2022. And some aren't even in the coming soon sections but when I typed in the Rocket Royal Mail train pack (which isn't listed in any of the sections it's banner says Winter 2021/2022 so it's anybodies guess? Hopefully they'll arrive before Christmas 2021. But we'll just have to wait with bated breath.
  24. I'm assuming this set mail order exclusive. Im sorry bit I don't have this set so I can't answer that bit. Some of them I have but for all of them I just find the photos and add them here! It always amazes me the amount of uncatalogued Hornby products I find or re-find or forgotten about until instantly seeing them again. I'm assuming it's the audio cassette or perhaps this freebie? (I have this set with this Fantastic battery operated super sound or perhaps not as on this set it's blue and not yellow? and strangely this one is dated 1994 the A6 mini catalogue and paperwork R695 are also dated 1994 with the catalogue number for this set as this set was only produced andr catalogued and released in the years 1990 1991 and 1992) . And yes the selection of amazing freight wagons is very nice.
