  1. Oh can we wishlist now? 😅 I have already written down in my option a very interesting wishlist! It is only lenghty because of the lengthy details of each item from wishlist. But I think I'll wait and leave it for now....! We all know Andy doesn't like them until December. We also now know that he also doesn't go too much either on Advent Calendars that just have a picture inside! ( I still cant believe that they were once sold without milk chocolates inside them!) Well I also think that with the backlog of outstanding releases dating back to 2020. Perhaps there isn't one this year as because we all want this "catch up year" of 2023 sorted first?
  2. 9 am or 11 pm as long as I get to view the full 2024 range that's all ( January 9th isn't it?). You would think with continuing advances in technology etc. Also with it nearly being 2024! That websites shouldn't still be crashing in this day-and-age due to an extremely high volume levels of traffic ( I know currently we can't odds this unfortunately) but who knows? Hopefully one day It will soon (fingers crossed) become a thing of the past!
  3. Oh I forgot to add that 2004 the 50th Anniversary Hornby catalogue for 2004. All of the each individual copies (papercover) were all individually numbered. They were all stamped in the top right hand corner, telling you which copy you had! And there was also a special BR Black Princess Class locomotive. limited edition "Princess Elizabeth" locomotive has been produced as it appeared in the 1955 catalogue, liveried in the simple black colour scheme of the original model. There was also another special limited edition hardcover 2004 50th Anniversary catalogue. As seen in the image. Attached images © j-humby 2023. All Rights Reserved. © jezzieboy 2023. 4. Oh apologies! I haven't got around to reading the latest issue as of yet. I made erroneous presumptions based on previous years. The changes are not surprising given Simon leaving Hornby. How interesting the new take of doing it! Well at least the 2024 catalogue has a barcode, catalogue number and ISBN references. Also it's the 70th edition and the 70th Anniversary of the Hornby catalogue. I did get some of the information correct!
  5. Hi Michael, Yes the new year range is usually announced between the 3rd and possibly the 12th January 2024. There is already a catalogue number for the 2024 catalogue. Which is also edition 70! The seventieth anniversary of the Hornby catalogue. This anniversary was last celebrated in 2004 almost 20 years ago. Where the first dozen several pages took a look back at each catalogue year by year. With a thumbnail image of all 49 catalogues and each years new tooled loco special models etc. There were also relevant random historic photographs at the bottom of each year The Beatles, a BR APT-P Class 370, Margaret Thatcher, a Sinclair C5 etc. https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/Hornby-2024-catalogue-of-model-rail-new-releases-r8164/
  6. It certainly isn't very easy to find, navigate and search for! Unfortunately the advent calendar's format isn't anything at all like previous years! Perhaps it's actually located at King's Cross Station on Platform 9¾!
  7. Yes the 30th Anniversary of the Eurostar! Although Hornby first produced a model of the Eurostar BR Class 373 as HO scale gauge in 1995. A OO Gauge model first appeared in October 1996 as a train pack. (Uncatalogued in 1996) with a OO Gauge train set followed in 1997.
  8. The 2024 Catalogue has a Catalogue number R8164 inevitably as last years is R8163 etc previous years. I'll get mine from WHSmith, it's usually available in store on the 12th day January each year. https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/Hornby-2024-catalogue-of-model-rail-new-releases-r8164/
  9. Yes you were correct they've just used the incorrect product images. It now displays an image notification of image "coming soon". Regarding R3810 it is a bit of a shame it isn't returning after all at this date. I'd love to see R3810 return. I also wouldn't be at all surprised if another three coach pack of the final three remaining coaches pictured here (2nd Class coach, Queen Adelaide's Coach and the Royal Mail coach with crew pack) was issued. 10. I do apologise if any part or all of my posts and contributions to this thread seem cynical or unpleased or critical in anyway. I know Andy doesn't like wishlists for the next year range until December but again this isn't about that. I was being cagey because I am unsure whether or not to begin to start wish list what we want to see. Kudos to Hornby for this new initiative 👏 you do a fantastic thing how ever long it takes the APT-P and Rocket posts were merely about them constantly being asked for year after year. But they do have to prioritise what people want I am always amazed at whatever new locomotive train pack or rolling stock or anything else they produce in the future. Nevertheless It's fantastic 👏
  11. Agreed they've always asked what we all want listening? sometimes almost mostly they do but just look how long we all had to wait for a new Rocket and APT-P. Eventually is better than never!
  12. I guess with Simon leaving Hornby imminently perhaps they now want imput from people (the public that buy their products) outside of Hornby Hobbies. They now may need to know what they can consider for future range years from a number of requests and the most requested could became a newly tooled model. By actively engaging with their target audiences. It seems like a good idea for those that use social media. How about they also introduce suggestions for existing toolings that haven't been in the range for well over ten years? Also How do we use this thread without turning it into a wishlist? 🤔
  13. It appears that the 2020 Rocket train pack is being reissued? I have only just seen this have I missed it being annouced? I had a quick glance, but I don't remember seeing this in the 2023 Hornby catalogue nor the 2023 range launch. R30090 L&MR, Stephenson's Rocket Train Pack - Era 1
  14. Due to the demand for this train pack I actually wanted this one too! So it is very disappointing! I don't know the ins and outs like everyone else here only Hornby know their reasonings (what part/parts of thevtoolings are unusable/lost/damaged etc. Or whatever the problem is) However It is still possible that a newly tooled model as the train pack could still be produced and reintroduced as part of the originally intended Tri-ang remembered packaging range in the future. Bearing in mind in 2020 we had a special Hornby centenary year 1971 Evening star in retro packaging. A year before newely tooled 9Fs (including Evening Star) were announced. I do have the 2007 Hornby R2610 Caledonian loco set it's very nice set if it was just the train pack it's self that you wanted old new shop stock sets still do appear on a well known auction site. So it is always worth looking there often. But fingers crossed that a Tri-ang remembered set will materialise in the future as I still one want one too!
  15. My reply from Hornby about the incorrect tooling used on BR MK4 First Class coaches. Dear Ryan, Thank you for your email and apologies for the delay in responding to you, I have been trying to get to the bottom of the issue. Speaking to the development team it would appear that the incorrect tooling insert has been used on the two affected coaches, something that was not picked up on prior to production. Now recognised, this will not be repeated on future versions of the Mark 4 coach. Kind Regards, Sam Coventon Quality Control & Technical Support Assistant www.hornbyhobbies.co.uk
  16. I have emailed Hornby to express my disappointment. I have explained that that they've ballsed up the BR MK4 INTERCITY first Class coaches. My subject heading in the email R40152 BR, Mk4 Open First, Coach G, 11213 - Era 8 R40154 BR, Mk4 Open First, Coach H, 11212 - Era 8 roofs incorrect tooling used. Mentioning that they did not have any roof vents during the ERA 8 (BR Sectorisation) 1982-1997 period. Continuing that the BR first class MK4s were modified to have roof vents at much later date. I have also very kindly asked, if they could rectify this huge mistake at some time in future. Finally I have added if they can please produce, R40153 Mk4 FO first open (accessible toilet) in Intercity Swallow 'Coach L' again with the correct roof toolings, as mentioned above without the ventilation.
  17. Apologies yes I know you were referring to Intercity 225 trains I just mentioned it for readers who are new to the hobby etc... Yes Hornby's track record for using the correct toolings in particular the MK3 buffet cars which been atrious in the past! The roofing was the most noticeable no roof vents! On first inspection but then the underframe which had wrong battery boxes etc. As they used the tooling for the MK3 first and 2nd Class therfore it was missing alot of detail. For some reason this fault / error only just seemed to affect the BR INTERCITY swallow and BR Intercity Executive livery MK3 restaurant buffet cars. All other Hornby MK3 buffet cars such as the FGW Purple original BR Blue Grey Intercity 125 used the correct toolings. Hopefully this will be now rectified on the new forthcoming Intercity Executive MK3 buffet using the correct new 2022 MK3 buffet coch toolings!
  18. Thank you yes the various formations of Class 90 91s with MK3 MK4 coaches and Class 43 HST DVT and MK3 and MK4 DVTs Apologies I assumed I mentioned I was referring to Intercity 225 train sets. The three out of the three BR MK4 First Class coaches in original BR INTERCITY swallow livery that was cancelled from production was "Hornby R40153 Mk4 FO first open (accessible toilet) in Intercity Swallow 'Coach L'." I would love it if Hornby would eventually produce this coach.
  19. Hi apologies if it has already been mentioned here already but were there only ever 8 of the Hornby BR MK4 coaches that were produced R40191, R40156, R40159, R40156B, R40160, R40152, R40154 and R40156A I know there was originally a ninth MK4 coach which appeared to be cancelled? Was it actually pulled from production? As it is rather disappointing not to have a the full 11 car train with the 9 car rake of BR MK4 carriages sandwiched between my Durham Cathedral Class 91 and my MK4 DVT.
  20. BBC Archive Rewind has another feature on the APT-P. BBC Archive Rewind: News: Advanced Passenger Train Makes First Scheduled Passenger Run  Glasgow, Scotland  Monday, 7 December 1981.
  21. They are extremely hard to find now! Given the high demand and popularity for them. I am sure and highly expect that Accurascale will probably announce another run of both the coach packs sometime in the future!
  22. I didn't even realise that Hatton's had added the Hornby 2023 range even though their allocated stock is now unfortunately sold out for everything? They didn't list the 2022 range when it was originally announced, a shame really as I wonder how many missed pre orders retailers have missed? I didn't receive any emails about the 2023 range either. Nor did I about the 2022 range. I wonder if they will get more allocated stock when the models arrive? Like they did with the Class 91s APT-Ps MK4s etc. Although last and this year they did recive much more stock of the 2020 2021 and 2022 ranges. I like to support as many independent retailers as possible and I spread my pre orders through many retailers across the UK.
  23. Well it's unavailable now. Only stock alerts via Hornby. It only specified 500 in the catalogue. Inless I didn't read the product description properly on the website. Although perhaps doubtful I don't know if they are inundated with stock alerts for the Dublo Deltic they could and a huge COULD produce another 500 possibly I don't know I could be wrong or bucking up the wrong tree! And of course there is always what if more than 500 people originally wanted one?
  24. Thank you! 😁 I might head over to Tesco then! Only I have found Just with online orders of the catalogues in the past. They can arrive mid to late January. Not that I'm complaining! It's just with that sometimes they can arrive with the spine damaged.
  25. Earlier I rang WHSmith and asked if the Hornby 2023 catalogue 69th edition had arrived in stick yet. The assistant who I spoke to said I'll go and check and said something really quick but he mentioned magazine and the signal went. 😶🙄😳🤣 so I am now none the wiser if the catalogue is actually in stock and available with retailers now! 🤣🤣
