  1. I still use it. The first time up the steps i usually say 'Hello Bobby' once my knock at the door has been acknowledged.
  2. It doesn't appear on this plan. This dates from after the closure of the Oxford line. It doesn't appear on this plan. This dates from after the closure of the Oxford line.
  3. All those lovely power signals and then there appears to be a mechanical disc right in the middle. That'll keep me busy for a while finding out what that is.... Super photo's!
  4. There was talk of me going there to reinstate the ground frame. I've not heard anything for a while. I'd better chase it up.
  5. Bridge 6 had been giving some concerns for a while. Materials had been on hand for some time with just a suitable window of opportunity lacking. The time presented itself over last weekend. The new structure comprises of two secondhand cast beams giving rigidity to two continuous hardwood waybeams. These are spaced by hardwood transoms and tied by threaded bar. The remains of the old structure can be seen dumped in the background..
  6. I've stated a new thread here.. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/72399-kings-cross-signals/ to keep this clear for Jon's excellent signals..
  7. I have one like the signal in the photo if any pictures are of help... Edit to add... I also know of the location of one of the rollerblind indicators too. I suspect it is not in very good condition now though. Ooodles of paperwork for both.

  9. My next 'modelling' project contains a couple of slots. I'll have to include the safety chains! The detail elsewhere is outstanding. Super photo's!
  10. All the photo's have been absolutely fantastic. Just to pick on the one above the detail is superb!. The safety chains on the slot are clearly visible etc. I'm guessing from what i can see the distant was an inner distant and there was an outer under the home?
  11. The nearest bridge in this picture is the newest.. I have always wondered if the cast iron collumbs are inside the brickwork. It seems odd not to have been built up to the height of the adjacent structure. This is the remaining cast iron structure on ECM1..
  12. I suspect this diagram has something to do with the bridge works.. Were the original cast iron supports incorporated into the new brick piers? It would make it a difficult job to pull them out and build the coffer dams to erect totally new piers?
  13. We used the Brigg line yesterday evening with 1Z74 but didn't pass anything waiting.
  14. My daughter was three when this was taken. She'd not seen a Deltic before. Note her silence for the passage of the 125...
  15. I spend a fair bit of time red zone whilst out testing and almost without exception we get a wave from drivers as they pass.
  16. Keadby Canal was replaced in just over two weeks a few years back. I think i spent around six months there afterwards babysitting the S&T side of thing's..
  17. Have a look at this... http://www.flickr.com/photos/86020500@N06/7914917944/in/faves-32297024@N08/

  22. It turned out to be quite an exercise in the end. I unwittingly mentioned during the week i had some thing's to fix and gained an assistant for the day. I can't take a four year old to the railway where it's stored without starting a loco and then finding the coach and so on and so forth. It turned into a major exercise! Jolly good fun was had by all though. I was rather chuffed she identified a defective dry cell battery with a meter too with a little guidance and we managed to get round Biggleswade model railway show too.
  23. For a big lump of metal it took some finding.. This lattice is a work in progress..
  24. I'll try and take a picture of the fittings for a friend's lattice signal over the weekend. The bearing, downrod and lamp bracket are mounted on a plate.
