  1. Fantastic - I will shortly preorder the one of the Highland liveries! Might grab second that's dcc ready only and then swap the decoder when I please.
  2. Having seen these in the flesh today at MRS I have to say they are incredible. The detail and number of metal / separate parts is just mind blowing.
  3. Just got to say that I went to MRS. It was fantastic and the Accurascale stand was a true stand out. The charismatic nature of everyone was great and a really well laid out stand too. Had a couple of fantastic conversations with them. @Islesy gave me a wonderful insight into the developement of these beauties. I loved their sense of humour too... PS go on make some more Porterbrook Deltics
  4. There should be a few other announcements as a minimum. There's the KMS 73/9 re-announcement for a start
  5. Well I may hold out for a second batch of with the skinheads... ...D5511 could be good example to help justify rule 1 for me :P @Accurascale Fran
  6. Look forward to seeing these at MRS. I assume the flange squeal sensor is based on rotation of the bogie assembly. A really 2022 touch. Superb price too. Can anyone convince me they were regular visitors to either the far north line or west highland line during 1960's-1980's? The RTC livery will be a top seller when that comes out.
  7. I feel this is very natural territory for SLW so I doubt it. But yes something Scottish would be very welcome, especially if pre-grouping.
  8. Yes, it's a big shame they have pulled out. That being said I would anticipate a somewhat lukewarm reception from many on this forum even if that's maybe not a fully representative cross section. Either way very excited and looking forward to attending on Friday.
  9. Good grief. Imagine an Accurascale O gauge 92. It'd probably have working gauges including a speedo!
  10. Sorry to take this a little off topic but any idea how they'll get down there? I.e. any chance of seeing them run down on rails?
  11. 92032 was outside the office window this morning... ...not a bad start to working back in the office a day a week! It was going light engine NCL to DON.
  12. Samsung only got 35 reports of the Galaxy Note 7 batteries to completely halt production according to wikipedia. The threshold should be pretty low. I'd assume around 5 or so at most before some form of action is taken. Otherwise Hornby would surely become at risk from negligence.
  13. That's the combination of sets I have. Something I have noticed with the above diagram is it shows the NDM pantographs as back to back. I was pretty sure these should be at opposite ends to each other.
  14. Any news on the second run of these? Got the Ethel on pre-order.
  15. Fair enough. I'd still expect that to come in next couple of months as it will support the mk2fs very well and allow for a very popular train formation seen in different parts of the country with nice motive traction whilst being small enough for most layouts.
  16. Thankfully nothing for me in these announcements. My wallet can feel the sigh of relief. Some really great examples of 47's. Very surprised to see the lack of DRS DBSO for the collectors club. I'm sure that will come along with the mk2f's in anglia. They could really do with another run of blue grey mk2f TSO's alongside a full Scotrail rake now we have the 47's to go with this.
  17. Inclined to agree. I think it's to do with the natural ebb and flow with the competition rather than a longer term trend. Right now early and late crest popularity is definitely lesser than it was, however pre-grouping is arguably better catered for than ever. I can certainly see BR steam coming back into popularity it's just been done to death. BR blue / modern image have been under represented for years. Hornby have also been churning out new tender locos at a heck of a rate over the past few years with a couple of exceptions. I would also say that the current trend towards working lights and fans is arguably slightly more inclined towards diesel and electric locos. As water based steam technology comes on I'm sure we'll start to see retools / new tools of new locomotives as there's a good USP over the ok models already in the range. I'd really like Bachmann to focus on the LMS/LNER and based on the 812 anything pregrouping.
  18. I've now written in to express my disappointment that the second power car is required for all but the most favorable running. I do suggest however that a spare being made available would go some way to appease me. There's no point buying a full spare NDM only to take it apart. If others are of a similar mind then I'd encourage you to also do so.
  19. I'm very glad to hear these may not make it till early March. Ideally if Rails of Sheffield could ship and charge after the 15th March that would be great as my February finances are still recovering from the Hornby APT outlay
  20. Really looking forward to attending for the first time ever. Booked my tickets! Hope organising goes smoothly from here onwards
  21. Arguably closer to even the APT-Q with the NDM and DAV4 rolled into one as a class 91.
  22. Thanks so much for the update! Look forward to seeing you there at Model Rail Scotland!
  23. Oh dear that's really not great news. I do hope someone else picks this up as they are critical for use with the highland mk5's on smaller layouts. I'm quite surprised they haven't picked up enough interest since they are all over the place on all different sorts of things, many of which are already/soon to be in model form. I maintain that it's a natural Accurascale product and it wouldn't surprise me if they were to create this as a non-KMS exclusive once an acceptable time has elapsed and confirming that KMS are not looking to do this with an alternative manufacture. The expression of interest form is still on the website. Assuming they're at Model Rail Scotland I'll politely ask what the situation is to try and glean information unless they post here. Another thought is that this may have been a victim of covid. My understanding is that KMS normally do visit a number of shows. The lack of shows has probably had a big impact on it's publicity and therefore viability.
  24. Hopefully there'll be an announcement at Model Rail Scotland...
  25. Overall I'm very pleased with the set. The paint is generally perfect for me. The data panel on the power car is v/. impressive. Looks the part. Most of the capacitors have been placed somewhat sensibly so won't require moving just maybe camouflaging a bit on the coaches I've got (no intermediate pure seating trailers). It's great they are allowing you to build full sets with all the different coaches. The APT-U coach is probably the best detailed one but the capacitor really frustrates me on that one and I think that will be the one I do look to change. That being said the price does mean this had to be the flagship Hornby product and I don't think it is. Improvements for me I will be taking this on and off the track a bit and therefore the propitiatory couplings are not ideal. I wish they had at least put NEM pockets on and through wiring would have obviously have been preferable. The etched grills whilst nice are not fitted as well as I'd like with a varying gap around some. Cab lighting and 1 DCC chip. It's 2022 guys come on. The pantograph isn't great all round really. Pickup improvement. In short I've banged on about it previously but now having it has confirmed that the through wiring of this would have been a substantial improvement. It may be that longer term I look to do this.
