  1. my Guess if a loco in 00 ,probably one from existing range having a retool
  2. Slightly incorrect regarding works plates . they are secured with screws . Yes its 4 holes on on works plate. The countersink chamfer on said screws are machined to suit top of screw O/D .Making the head of screw flush on said plate. Yes the 2nd mans side plates you mention are attached with bolts (Whitworth) Believe me i know
  3. Excellent marketing policy. Bachmann have modelled several preserved locos in the main range.46521 yrs ago springs to mind. Hopefully others will follow .
  4. There are lifting points on 45s.I made replica 'instruction' plates to identify location on a REAL 45 . Don't confuse them with the derailment brackets ,all ready moulded on body side of loco. 2 minor irregularities found on model, one the back head cab wall heaters (4 off) were painted cream/grey to match the canvas on the back head wall during the 1970's, the model depicts it in the original black as built format, we reverted back to black in preservation on the peak. The other minor niggle on the ETH version, there is a conduit run for the ETH which runs from the left buffer to the right buffer, its moulded on the buffer beam for the 451 model and it should be painted orange as opposed to black. Not a show stopper but at least they have correctly moulded the conduit run. I appreciate Phil is referring to the model and I'm referring to the actual locomotive but the said lifting eye bracket has been omitted from the model and is possibly a separate fitting.
  5. I second that, 47701 is my fave .Lets hope Bachmann provide . If not maybe a retailer commission. HINT HINT
  6. I would assume the reason for the aperture looking oversize is to do with curves on 2nd radius set track cu .It is a pony truck after all.An improvement over the Competitions offering.
  7. i studied the split nose ends of peaks during the time we reinstated ours . Baines rubber strip was used by BR to secure glass. Your notice differences on preserved 45s . We were approached to what method we used by owners of 2 45s. its a mine field of variations.
  8. No bust by BR at Cricklewood
  9. i spy some of my whitworth sockets ! Naturally there back in45149 HQ ???
  10. Are you saying its payment/deposit ?
  11. https://www.hattons.co.uk/stockdetail?SID=619174 um err its BLACK
  12. Received today a E-mail from Hattons regarding R3850 BR Black late crest. Production has been cancelled by Hornby . Reasons unknown
  13. Surprised to see NEW the 9F in shops ahead of the 78XXX model. Commercial reasons ? Considering the 78XXX was announced several years ago now.
  14. Update on liveries https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/pg/100/Newsletter-Current
  15. Don't rule out a N gauge version.
  16. Mine arrived today. All I will say is page 12 because I don't want to spoil things but it will be a pleasant surprise. Sorry to be criptic.
  17. i found the solution today using a lathe and a needle file, as simple as that So that people are aware, when you tighten the chuck or collet do it lightly so you don't damage the threads and gently apply a need file whilst the screw is rotating in the chuck. Thank you all for your replies. Lets leave the subject closed now, how you do it is up to the individual.
  18. I don't have any thread gauges. I get the feeling nobody knows the thread size ? Thanks for your advice .
  19. Flat bottom drill / slot drill required ,potentially will make the wall of counter bore weak .That's why i prefer to go for new screws. The treaded hole in the casting is what is known as a blind hole. Not a trough hole. so the screw hits the bottom of hole
  20. It's a steel screw going into a diecast chassis, that is two separate metals, therefore, you need to use locktite 640 and suitable activator. The main problem is the diameter of the washer attached to the screw is too large and it will not go into the counterbore in the bogie moulding. Therefore, the screw is only holding on three threads. If you tighten the screw up it restricts the movement and swing of the bogie, I don't think, with my engineering experience, varnish is not a suitable solution, therefore, I require to know if anybody has any idea what the thread is - is it BA or metric? I will purchase suitable screws and washers to solve the situation Many thanks for your suggestion. Suzy
