Thanks, had not realised these ones were potential donors. Unfortunately a quick look on the web and (annoyingly) even places with them listed with a price are "Out of Stock". Will keep my eye out. Are you able to confirm the old Lima body will fit onto these Railroad chassis. Even using that R number still can't find a Hornby service sheet. Of course all this assumes the railroad motor is better than a serviced, wheels kept clean Lima motor in the first place! Just to add to the confusion there is an old Hornby version of the Virgin HST aswell.

Have been looking around the web, but cant find a service sheet for the Railroad HST yet. Looking at the other railroad diesels they seems to have gone for a different chassis to the old Lima where there is a single connection on top of the motor that connects into a bridge on the chassis. As a result assuming the chassis will fit into the Lima body (fingers crossed) I'd need a new motor, chassis and most likely a front boogie.

Thanks, looking at the photos and of the rear boogie in particular, I suspect it may need a replacement chassis or a mod to the original Lima one to fir a new motor.

Thanks, but been there done that. Seems that CD motors don't like Gaugemaster controllers and it lasted an hour or so. At least that was the advice I got from the Ebay seller who to his credit gave me a full refund.

I am looking to repower a couple of old Lima HSTs I have with the motors from these ones. If I can source motor from this release (the blue grey will it drop into and old Lima chassis. Or will I need to buy the chassis and motor and will an old Lima body attach to the new chassis. Pictures of the inside, motor and inside of body would be appreciated. Slightly confused but are we saying the GWR railroad is the old Hornby model and the blue grey are the old Lima.

Was in the process of rewriting my letter to Santa from ScotRail Mk2s to the Hattons crane thing only to find it's being put back to 2021. Oh well I'll need to think of something else.

We had a visit from Primomodels on Thursday. They are manufacturers of trees. Michal came across really well and clearly has a real interest in the hobby. Enjoyed the show on Saturday. It was very busy by mid morning. Some excellent layouts from Scarborough again. A video from SMET member and our own roving cameraman Andrew Gebbie.

The club was on the road again last weekend with a visit to the Falkirk Model Railway Exhibition. The last one at the college and the end of an era. Looking forward to returning next year at a new location.

Looking forward to attending with Perth Model Railway Group. Always enjoy the show. I like to get in area to have a good look through the second hand stalls for a bargain or two.

Would AWS be used in passing loops used by passenger and freight. The location and time period ( which I understand is all important from seeing many questions asked in the past on RMWEB) is the Mid 80s Scotland.

Great idea to use reversing cameras which come with monitors. Had a look for one which doesn't come with the guidelines on the screen.

Last week we moved the remainder of our stuff into our new shed. It was definitely a case of many hands make light work. Cars, vans and a large truck we burrowed were all used. The solar panels which charge batteries all week long will hopefully give us more than enough power for club nights, making our new green coloured shed green in more ways than one! Meanwhile on the outside new pathway is been formed from the shed to the ticket office for the train rides and station.

Funnily enough I was just thinking to myself esp with the interest in Great Model Railway Challange that a part build demo layout would be of interest to visitors. Quite often visitors will ask questions about how a layout was built when we are exhibiting. Great idea.

Although not a fan of space layouts. Once again three great layouts. I think the quality of layouts this series has been better than the first. No doubt partly as people who saw what worked last year. Well done to both layouts that got through.

Busy month for the club, two exhibitions, Dundee and Greenock and it looks like we'll be moving into our new home at Wester Pickston just outside Perth by the end of the month.

Am really enjoying the Alan Harrison Collection on you tube. The latest video at Stratford in 1986 features a MK 2a FK or should say the Mk2a FK in Scotrail at the end of a rake and later in the video a ScotRail full brake behind an electric again as part of a rake of coaches. I've seen the FK in blue grey pre 1986 as part of the 1984 Jacobite service 477 Mk2a and DBSO between Edinburgh and Inverness but think it wasnt part of the rake in ScotRail livery that did Dunblane Edinburgh push pull rake by 1986. Perhaps no longer required it wondered the country looking for something to do!
