  1. Just to confirm unfortunately DJ Models will longer be attending our show having attended for a number of years. Unusually there have been a few late call offs this year mostly due to personal reasons. Fortunately we have managed to get some replacements. I apologise for our website list being out of date, the most up-to-date list is actually available on RMWEB.
  2. Law junction is a great layout, full length trains set in a real location. Looking forward to seeing it again.
  3. We will be exhibiting Almondbridge and Aldbury. A short video of Almondbridge in modern image guise at Warley a few years ago and a longer video of Aldbury to get you in the mood. Modern image then being a bit different to what it is in 2019. Expect RHTT and maybe even a full rake of Biomass wagons.
  4. Really sorry to hear this news. Trevor and Rose of Cheltenham and lovely folks who I have had the pleasure of dealing with for many years. They and Digitrains travel many hundreds of miles each year to attend our show. I wish them and everyone else impacted well and offer my sincerest sympathies.
  5. How distant are they? If you hired a stunt double to go in your place would they notice? Yes you can make it, 8 years ago number three daughter was born in Dundee in the early hours of Saturday morning, I was at the show operating a layout by lunchtime. Hope you can make it along even if it is only for a short time.
  6. Competition Time. There is a chance to win one of three family tickets for the show in todays Perthshire Advertiser. Details can be found in the weekend section on page 27. Closing date for postal entries is 21 June 2019.
  7. Not a big fan of 158s or 170s myself overcrowded or otherwise, and hope you can make it to the show. I think the following are ScotRail HSTs, based on info from Scot-rail http://www.scot-rail.co.uk/page/Diagrams:ScotRail+HST+Jan+2019 1H07 0833 Edinburgh - Inverness 1H13 1336 Edinburgh - Inverness. Alternatively if you go via Stirling and have to change there the following connecting services should be HSTs. 1A47 0553 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 0846 ; HST-09 1A53 0838 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 1121 ; HST-05 1A57 0939 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 1238 ; HST-10 1A61 1138 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 1411 ; HST-03 1A63 1237 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 1514 ; HST-09 1A73 1539 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 1822 ; HST-05 1A83 1741 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 2032 ; HST-03 1A87 1840 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 2123 ; HST-08 1A89 1939 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 2220 ; HST-09 1A95 2140 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen 0030 ; HST-05
  8. 3 weeks today until the doors open to Scotlands Summer Show!
  9. I have attached the floor plan for both halls. Please be aware it is subject to change if necessary. Hopefully you can zoon in to see who is where. Layouts are yellow, traders are red, societies are green.
  10. For those of you who have not been before a couple of photos of the two halls just after the doors opened last year. Hoping as many of you as can are able to join us this summer.
  11. We are delighted to announce that we are hoping to have David Watson of Dean Park Station opening our show on the Saturday morning. For those who don't know, David has as excellent series of videos on You Tube which include many useful how to type films. Many of us in the Perth club subscribe to his You Tube channel and are looking forward to meeting him. https://www.youtube.com/user/DaveClass47
  12. Was sorry to see that the "80,s Rail"website which I find especially useful for photos of coaches is closing at the end of March. https://80srail.zenfolio.com I have used it for years and will be sorry to see it go. The photos on it are really excellent, enjoy it while you can!
  13. Sorry Torper looks like Pheonix Paints won't be at Perth this year. Squires will be there, I think they stock Railmatch though. Harburn and Ellen's Emporium will also be there but I can't recall whose paints they sell.
  14. They are not on the list posted so far, but I appreciate the exhibition manager is still finalising the list of traders. I'll be at the club tonight and see if there is any update for you.
  15. I have to say I enjoyed both episodes, but the second episode was absolutely fascinating TV. The Class 66 and Terrier moments between Hornby, Rails and Hattons were simply fascinating, I could not stop watching even though it got a bit awkward and tense. These are three players in the hobby I have dealt with and feel positive about over many, many years. What an amazing insight, I imagine the meeting at the unveiling would have been tense enough and hope that the presence of the camera was not just sprung on Rail and Hatton's. It was good that they got to have there say and did not appear to be hindered by the cameras. I am sure Hornbys 66s in the same liveries will see some reduction in sales for Hatton 66s, but given the different level of detail I am not sure they are really going head to head. The 66 is not a model I am familiar with, but if I look at the Class 47 analogy, I buy Bachmann 47s not Horney Railroad 47, that said for the future of our hobby we need railroad type 47s and 66s so that younger ones can afford them and not damage any wee fiddly bits. I have met Simon a number of times, despite the fact he must meet 1000s of modellers he always has time for a chat and comes across as a thoroughly decent guy who remembers having spoken to your before. The company I did feel sorry for in all of this is Bachmann, hardly a mention and no recognition of their status as a major manufacturer of quality models. When I got back into the hobby in the late 90s they were miles ahead of Hornby for diesel and electric models.
  16. At Model Rail in Glasgow yesterday one of the traders was trying to sell Oxford ScotRail Mk3 SO Mk3s for £49.99 whilst there were plenty of COs at less than £30. For a moment I assumed at that price it had been resprayed, sadly not however!
  17. Enjoyed the show yesterday. Took me a while to find Wellpark, but was delighted when I found it. I also really liked Calcutta sidings, just watching very well detailed full length trains going by. Got a couple of blue grey Postal Coaches from Cheltenham flush glaze windows to complete my Lima ScotRail Mk3s from Shawplan and bits and pieces from a very big Squires stall. One trader was trying to sell Oxford ScotRail Mk3 SO Mk3s for £49, whilst there were plenty of COs at less than £30. For a moment I assumed at that price it had been resprayed, sadly not however.
  18. Having never missed the show since getting back into the hobby 20 plus years ago, if I were a betting man I'd guess Squires at A37 and Harburn at A14! That said you would maybe be better checking the list. Looking forward to being there next Friday and picking up my late Christmas presents from Cheltenham Models who I suspect may somewhere on the left hand wall.

  21. Pleased to say Bachmann came back very quickly this morning with a reassuring email advising the model of the ScotRail TSO is a mock up and that the positioning if the ScotRail branding is to be "tweaked" Excellent customer service.
  22. Thanks Bob. Pleased to say that just over two hours from having sent my email I got a similar reassuring response from Bachmann.
  23. Thanks Flood for your really useful post. Sent me looking at my loco hauled 1985 booklet as I wondered why I had missed that rake when I used to go to Waverley in 1985. Then I realised I was a SO spotter, it was a SX service! Have sent Bachmann a wee email about the position of the ScotRail branding on the proposed ScotRail TSO. I can only find photos of the branding being under the first window and not the second as they are showing or photos with no branding at all.
  24. 23 mins on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCRYKXhmEm4 has 3 of them departing behind a 27. Think there were only 5 in that livery and all 3 have the ScotRail logo under the first window on the video. Think they also appear earlier in the video departing Haymarket behind a 47. Will check later. Will drop Bachmann a polite email. Suggest others may want to do so as well.
  25. Interested to see the mk2z in ScotRail. Looks like they are already well advanced. Not sure about the location of ScotRail on the side of the TSO. Looks too far from the coach end. I'd expect it to be under the first main window rather than the second. https://www.Bachmann.co.uk/product/branchline-br-mk2-tso-tourist-second-open-br-scotrail-39-353/ I have tried to find photos but have struggled to check on the position. https://www.flickr.com/photos/d9006/6191222533/in/pool-2858153@N25/
