  1. Would these be the railings from Jason? https://www.shapeways.com/product/BNPN6ZCKV/gnr-post-x-50-4mm-scale?optionId=59558408 They're in 10's, 20's and 60's
  2. I volunteer in the C&W in the goods shed at Swanage, although it's been some time since I've been able to do so (3+ hours away). The goods shed has been hosting some locomotive repainting recently so they certainly need more cover. I note it doesn't give a timescale for movement so I wonder if the railway will announce some covered accommodation at the same time. At present it's stuffed and mounted, at least if it heads to the SR it has a decent chance of running again.
  3. Isn't the Furzebrook site likely to be for stock storage only ? The original planning permission given to BP had a condition that the site had to be returned to Heathland when it was finished with, if the railway open a workshop there then it is an engineering facility rather than storage using the existing sidings. In the last magazine it was noted that the planning permission for the land behind Herston works had been renewed although there was the issue with a gas main as well as drainage. I'll wait for a full anouncement as I would doubt the NRM would give something away without covered storage being on the cards.
  4. .....everywhere else is listing them at £40+..........sure they've not put some of the older ones in the new boxes..
  5. As a show of appreciation for your hard work I've just ordered Single No 2....and so have to say you're an expensive girl to know! Good luck with whatever you do in the new world.
  6. In ref to this post. And then this one from Ian. I typed "Coopercraft Kirk" into google and the first page that came up was this one. http://shop.cooper-craft.co.uk/index.php?cPath=61 Which doesn't have the warning on, and why it is easy for the unsuspecting to place an order in good faith. Shame as there are several examples in the range I would order (I still need 50+ coaches) but I'll make them out of resin instead.
  7. Not bizarre at all, not every modeller is on forums and aware of the situation. As in other things when problems arise such as non delivery of a product you start to search and only then might you find threads such as this. I'd surmise there are still alot who frequent here and yet have no idea they'd be pouring money into a hole if they ordered. I got caught many years ago in a similar situation. it was pre-internet and you relied on magazines, shows and word of mouth. I purchased a Leather bike jacket from a trader at a show, as he didn't have my size I paid a deposit and awaited delivery. To cut a long story short he was doing much the same as Coopercraft and advertising products he didn't have and taking deposits and payment. When he finally got wound up it turned out that many of the magazines he had been getting orders from had been cutting him slack as "he was a nice guy" and the stand that I brought from wasn't his but another companies that had given him space "to help him out". I paid £20 deposit when my weekly wage was £80 so it was a large amount to me, in conversation with the liquidator he said that just in the previous year the trader had taken £20,000+ in either deposits or full payment and all of it had "disappeared". The stupid thing was if he had run his business properly it was viable. I didn't get any money back but at least the trader spent 18 months in prison.
  8. They will be. Chatting at Warley and was told quite a lot of the Single is going to be metal to get some weight into it, and having done some GN singles that isn't a bad thing. Without some really decent weight above and around the driver she's going nowhere.
  9. What says everything to me is that every time he gets an order through the website he can't fulfill what does he do ? He doesn't refund or contact the buyer he just ignores them and keeps the cash until challenged, only then does he after a fashion return the money, but it usually takes 2-3 attempts and a long time. My thoughts are that he bargains on the purchaser giving up and it's become a reliable revenue stream for him, if it wasn't he would have been honest and changed his website by now.
  10. Which is no different to the current situation. Either someone approaches him about passing/selling on what he has or they're just forgotten about and he's reported to Trading Standards about his website. I'm not a fan of the programmes but he's a prime candidate for 'Rogue Trader' as he takes money with no means or intent of actually supplying anything.
  11. Excellent Mike. I really like the idea of reusing these older coaches. I'm guessing the masking tape used is a very low tack one. I'm always a bit wary of masking the oil paint in case it peels off.
  12. I don't know for sure. I have seen some open framed ones years ago, they caused problems after a couple of years when they got caked in grease and muck, but they were cheap ones they used to throw in with a kitchen. Edit - without checking I would assume a cooker hood has a much higher flow rate than the bathroom one shown.
  13. Looks good. What about draping a bit of gauze over the fan to pick up the bigger particles ? might stop you getting paint colours on the outside of the shed around the fan. I think the reason some of the larger ones are quite expensive is because the fan can't have an open motor, if you spray with lots of thinners then you could have a flashover. For what we do it shouldn't be a problem.
  14. I have no sympathy with the owner. If you paid by Paypal approach them about non delivery of goods, same with a CC. I'd also report to trading standards
  15. What ever you do, don't order anything from the Coopercraft website and under no circumstance pay for anything. There are a number of threads either running or locked where modellers are complaining of non delivery and loss of monies, can only be a matter of time till he's a person of interest with trading standards or in court.
  16. Thanks Clive, I had actually started those ages ago but got sidetracked with the 3D locomotive developments. It was Graeme King that posted something that made me dig them back out and resume them, so it's impetus on impetus. I agree that these coaches have got some mileage in them, they aren't the most accurate but for about a fiver you get a body an underframe and some bogies, with some styrene and a few parts you can have a coach for less than a tenner that is never going to be in a blue or red box. They also make you study drawings and research which then gives you a better understanding of the prototype. There are quite a few more in my 'wants' list that these might be suitable for, although for the 12 wheelers I might have to invest in a silhouette cutter for the sides.
  17. Thanks for that, I've seen his site but missed that page. Some more info for the underframe but still the elusive blank end. I doubt I'll let Mr B within 20' of this without having a paracetomol at the ready............
  18. Thanks, I presume you mean the luggage van. I've never seen a D & S kit and didn't realise Dan had made one. This is the Dia 42 (page 92 in ECJS by Hoole) one issue I've had is that there is only a gangway connection at one end. I've cast the other as a blank end as I've seen no end photographs of these particular vans to go from. I've got to make the roof up in the next week or so then I can easily run a couple of extra castings off for you.
  19. As a bit of fun I wondered what I could do with the short Railroad teaks. How about a 53'6" ECJS Clerestorey Comp Locker 3rd. I made up the sides in 14 pieces cut from 2 coaches, scratchbuilt the roof and then cast the whole coach as one in resin, has a few things wrong with it but as a first time I thought it turned out ok and passes the 3' rule. Next up is the 45' luggage brake Only about 6 pieces on this side, I've cast as seperate sides/ends and this one is much better than the first. At present I'm just using the RR underframe (Cut down) with the bogies to see how cheaply and easily I can make them.
  20. That's so that one of them is on the verge.....
  21. Maybe, but it's the opening of doors you struggle with.......... That, and grass verges
  22. You're possibly not allowing for the crumple zones for and aft and the side protection which adds to the cars bulk. I know what I'd rather be in.
