  1. There is a huge variance in ply quality. So much is used in the far East as shuttering ply that it's only designed for one short use, it's cheap so some of the importers here sell it to those that sell to a price rather than a quality. It's where the mantra of using Birch ply came from, although not cheap it is stable.
  2. The only thing I'd add to the board is a bit more bracing. If you're going to have this as a temporary item or one that gets moved about, then I'd drop a couple of diagonal braces in so they resemble a 'V' That will take any warp out of the ply if it should try.
  3. Eeeerrr yes they do, and if there is a God then there would be an awful lot more GN engines instead of those other interlopers....
  4. It's one of those threads that has so much detail it's just inspiring to read.
  5. I've not heard or seen that, The one's on my car are front and rear. There is no 'off' setting, nor one for front/rear only.
  6. I read that, I wondered why there would be such a piece written within Martin's article and thought it might be because of the negativity that is raised about P4. A shame that a response was thought necarsary but a well written one none the less. Sadly the P4 vs OO will raise its head again at some time in the future. Excellent edition.
  7. Mine are automatic and can't be turned off, the settings are sidelights, headlight, auto, parking left, parking right. so in overcast weather they can come on.
  8. The road going to the left is the A4 which is the continuation of the original route. But this should make no difference as the roundabout has changed the traffic priorities, so a vehicle coming from the minor road on the right has priority over one on the A4
  9. I agree. In option 2 & 3 I'd swap the cattle and unloading dock positions, although I'd move the unloading dock away from the turnout.
  10. Thats true, but the mini roundaout changes the traffic priority. Before, if it was a right turn junction those waiting to pull in or out had to defer to the road (in this case the A4) which had priority. Now the priority is given to traffic approaching on the right.
  11. The roundabout is there to indicate traffic priority from what would have been a junction. It was but is not now a right turn. I was taught that as you approach a roundabout those on your right have priority and you have to assume that all are going across your path.
  12. Just a quick comment about the location of the goods shed. It should have a track either passing through or next to it so that goods could be handled easily, if the location precluded that then there generally wasn't one. (waits for all the prototype locations to flood in..........)
  13. I know what you mean. I on the other hand stick to the highway code as I try not to get into bad habits (I'd be a nightmare) If in the case of the roundabout linked above I was going straight ahead then I would not be indicating right. I would say that generally I am in my old work truck which is not the fastest getaway so when moving onto the roundabout my direction of travel is not a great surprise to others. What is a surprise is when they join slowly to cut across the back of me and find a digger on a trailer. this has happened not once but 4 times now. I've also had someone on the A1 try cutting in behind me at 40mph and finding the trailer, It's quite an eye opener just how much damage can be done to the side of a car with barely a scratch to the trailer.
  14. And yet that is technically straight on, so doesn't need an indication. Would be better if they signed and marked the 2 approach lanes for left only and straight on
  15. My instructor said that the only time you indicate right at a roundabout was if you were making a right turn (three quarters of the way around or beyond straight ahead) I think it's pretty easy. Turning left - indicate left Straight ahead - no indication until leaving the roundabout when the left indicator is used Turning right - indicate right
  16. I used to do exactly as Pete but have recently been using the Ebay Global Shipping Program, Easy enough with no problems (so far). I've sold 11 items this year to Hong Kong, France, Italy, Germany & Belgium I'm not actually sure what would happen if there was an issue with the item and a return was asked for, as although I stipulate "No returns" Ebay ignore that and freeze your PP payment, ( I know they're meant to be seperate but the payment was frozen 2 hours before the email from ebay). Maybe the OP could ask the trader in Germany to list an item in that way?
  17. Just picking up on this, at the end of my road is the A1 which up until 1980 had 19 sets of trafic lights controlling the North/South dual carriageways as well as 3 roads that intersected them. To speed up the traffic flow on the A1, the lights were removed and a roundabout installed. Now we have the situation where the traffic is either stationary or constantly moving in the approach roads depending on the A1. Great for those on the A1 but when there is only one way across the A1 to head West no good for a town of 13,000. Couple that to drivers that don't understand how a roundabout works and it now see's more accidents than the traffic lights (although there was more speed involved with them)
  18. Aaaaah I see, I thought you were responding to post #3537 above.
  19. Maybe he's p*ssed about Bexit and Germany picking up the tab..........just saying...
  20. Unless he's using the Ebay shipping program he doesn't have to ship/sell it to you.
  21. I sometimes wonder about the attitude some on the road have, if this is what they think about other road users. The cyclist had the right to be there and the lorry driver should have shown a bit more consideration for him, the cyclist is a legitimate road user and did nothing wrong. Read the highway code about overtaking.
  22. Thanks, They're by Jason (JCL) of this parish and you can see them on his Wainfleet and Havenhouse thread.
  23. The photo linked above shows the locomotive under tarpaulins and complete on the 11th March so I doubt it has been, Kings Cross wouldn't be the place to strip it anyway.
