  1. Really appreciate the tutorial on these Mike, I have all this to come!
  2. As well as disabled bays and pavements.
  3. Having taken a tour around there, you'll find that the tables are laid out by the commissions staff. So if there was an insult meant by having the flag upside down you may well find it was by another. On the tour the guide did say "And this is where we tell the countries of Europe what to do" I suggested later that it was lost in translation but he said "no, I understand English perfectly"....I declined to comment further...
  4. I know I'm a terrible cynic but it is still lazy uncorroborated reporting. Essentially, Man posts story on Farcebook and BBC contact him to verify, he repeats post and tells them he doesn't speak Welsh and runs an events company that puts on live music shows. Sorry but the story sounds just like the Navajo indian version and many others and to be honest sounds like a load of boll*x to me. The timing is suspect too.......A Muslim woman speaking Welsh corrected/verbally abused by a man who is then told off by a woman sitting further ahead at the time of the referendum where immigration is a hot topic..........I know I'm a Cynic, but if it quacks like a duck.....
  5. The problem with that report is that all they are doing is repeating a facebook post, not exactly a credible source. My Aunt lived in Newport and I used to regularly head to Cardiff and I don't ever remember hearing Welsh being spoken on South Wales.
  6. The woman next door to where I'm working has horses, I can tell because of the tight jodphurs and boots she wears.......nnnnnnnnnn.... Unless they're just for our benefit..........
  7. I have a J3 in the rountuit pile, looks a nice kit when I examined it but I need to get wheels etc before starting. I intend finishing the wagon and coach kits I have first though as well as the G1.
  8. I picked up one of the Brassmasters Cleminson chassis to try under the 3D coaches, as you made a decent job of the body I knew that was possible but thought I ought to make sure I could build a reasonable chassis for them first. but as you know it's wiring I should really be doing....
  9. I watched the 2nd episode over the last couple of evenings but found I was also reading a book at the same time which meant it couldn't hold my attention, I also fast forwarded through the middle "chat with a celeb" section completely. I'll give the 3rd one a go with an open mind but I am finding CE annoying like a shouty child and Le Blanc wooden and as if only there for the paycheck.
  10. The legion are doing that and a lot will be attending to pay him their respects. Now back to the jokes........
  11. Whilst I agree it is a very sad time for the family and a despicable act, this person is not someone I had heard of before lunchtime or had any contact with so I don't see the point of one part of RMWeb coming to a stop because of it. Some 15 minutes ago My wife (who is in public office and President of the British Legion here) received news that a WW2 Lancaster Gunner had died with no living relatives and with no one to attend his funeral in Bedford or mark his passing. Do we honour one and not the other?
  12. I think that looks like a short coat with a belt around the waist, around here (Bedfordshire) in the late 60's through to the 70's those working on the fields seemed to wear that style of attire at all times of the year and it's possible that it was similar at Havenhouse as it was, and still is productive land.
  13. Take a look at becoming a member of the CMRA (we are at East Beds) There is shared equipment stored at 4 locations around the country http://www.cmra.org.uk/services.html as well as other benefits to members.
  14. I shamelessly pinched it from Norman saunders. On a slightly off topic subject I'm picking up an article on Bawtry at a Committee meeting for you in 2 weekends time, he doesn't have a scanner so I'll do it for him and pass on to you.
  15. Reminds me of the old joke about a chap in the Dock for eating Swan, he's eventually found not guilty and as he's led from the dock the judge says "I wonder what Swan tastes like" to which the defendant replies "Much like Golden Eagle M'Lud"
  16. Mine are on the underside and I didn't have a problem. Track/turnouts were made up on a copy of the plan and wires were soldered on the underside. This was transferred to the boards were there was a Templot template laid, the holes were marked and drilled and the wires fed through the hole and the track placed over the plan, it was then pulled back a few inches and laid to one side while the plan was cut away where the track would be, this area was then plastered with glue and the track laid back down and pressed into it with the ballast sprinkled over. As it was laid the wires were pulled tight on the underside to make sure there were no kinks. This has given an all over cover of ballast where the track is laid although I will add more to the Up and Down mains as they were ballasted deeper.
  17. BLT - Branch Line Terminus, as far as I understand although I usually proved wrong on some things...
  18. I also got some piccies out on the line. They did a lot of damage to the track when they operated as they "dug in" when they acelerated away. I have spotting notes that show all that worked through Potton for the last few years up to closure, I'll try and find them.
  19. I'd rather not have either on the road. One changes lanes without indication and with little space to do so and the other does not have the temper to be on the road.
  20. Most journeys from Sandy were to either the intermediate stations or Bedford/Cambridge it was unusual to journey beyond so I'm not surprised there were few through trains.
  21. That would of been the Fen Drayton (St Ives) to North London sand trains. I'm building Sandy (see the tag line below) I'll have a think about what stock you'd see.
  22. Yes. I listen to the radio (BBC output) most of the day and I have to say that BBC4 is becoming the channel of choice in the house
  23. I haven't seen this version of TG yet (recorded but yet to watch) but I don't think it's a valid comparison. Bake off is a low budget show that used a new idea, TG was already a successful show with a large audience base.
