  1. The other materials are more expensive but give a better quality print. The % markup on Shapeways costs is also set by the owner of the STL hence the high cost on substandard material.
  2. Eeerrr it is, the choice of material is that of the owner not Shapeways. It has been mentioned to him that it is an awful product to use many times in the past, but it fell on deaf ears.
  3. I put mine inside a copy of 'Big N Bouncy Asian Babes' so people don't think I'm a weirdo...
  4. The print will only replicate the information on the STL. The orientation of the print is for quality.
  5. Very interesting, I had wondered that the business case for just extending to Hawick wasn't enough and it needed to be more of a strategic route.
  6. 305 arrived in the Borders today, considering how long some post takes I was rather surprised.
  7. Only if you think it has. The Greens held the SNP hostage.
  8. Considering the rumours about Truss, I'd say 'Love Island' might be more appropriate
  9. He has stated in the past he does not have one and does not know how they work or whether his 'designs' work with them. Here is the last thread, a mere £100, 000.... That is why I gave up with them.
  10. You could always try putting your own hand in your pocket, you are trying to benefit yourself after all.
  11. Do you have a list of attendees/layouts/traders ? I Look forward to attending.
  12. It's KR models latest render. probably the class 40..
  13. Although given a metric length, timber is generally in imperial ( some suppliers are changing to full metric) The old 6' x 3' board. 1220 x 2440 is still the 8'x4' board. Its a real pain when you have drawings that show stud work with 9mm (3/8th) OSB board then covered in plasterboard. The PB is metric ( 1200 x 2400) so the stud work has to be laid out to suit, then the OSB has to have the top and side cut to suit.
  14. Heard on Borders radio farming segment a while ago (It's now Greatest Hits radio) Interviewer - "So is Rape popular in the borders..." Farmer - "Aye it is, others have moved on, but it still has its place"
  15. How often do you get power cuts ? The infrastructure in these parts is on its last legs, we get regular power cuts even though there are 3 routes in, there isn't anywhere near enough capacity for EV's, successive governments of all colours have taken their eye off the ball regarding our energy security, and the closure of Ratcliffe is another lost opportunity. Keeping it mothballed would be the better alternative until we actually have enough alternatives to make it redundant. You only have to look at Ukraine and see that Russia has switched to targeting and destroying its power production to see how vulnerable you can become, especially with Winter approaching.
  16. I can't help noticing that your location is the Eastern Seaboard of Canada, a huge coal exporter (7th) and user of coal for power, as a Country it does not expect to stop using coal for another 6 years , Canadas sources of power generation are crude oil (48%), gas (30%) and coal (6%) and yet you expect the UK to reduce its use to zero. The issue in the UK is not the use of coal but the lack of a reliable alternative source. We can put up wind turbines all over the Borders (where I am) but there isn't the infrastructure to distribute it. We have political parties who have stated they will not issue any more licenses for North Sea oil & gas fields, but make no mention of the vast amount of gas we import from Norway. Only today I read of a social housing scheme that uses a district heating system powered with gas. With bills going from £80 per month to £400 a month and tenants locked in for 18 months. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmm2n3527m4o Until we have reliable alternatives and a distribution network for them we should not be turning everything else off.
  17. But not due to anything he did. He had no idea that Mike Oldfield was using the studio when others weren't, and couldn't see the point of an instrumental album, Luckily others did.
  18. I just let it float, I do load the carrier with some lead for weight.
  19. On my own kits (GN) I use some sprung bearings on the ends and have the middle axle floating and retained by wire from one end. Attached are some basic instructions, these allow for only minimal movement of the middle axle, for tighter radius you fix the wire to the W iron at one end and solder to the axle carrier without extending it to the second (outer) W iron. 20. My guess is Pre grouping, stock rather than locomotive.
  21. Yodel.....why on earth do sellers use them. Purchased a book from eBay 10+ days ago, was advertised with quick posting and delivery with an arrival date of the 3-5th June. Received a receipt to say it was posted the day after payment but it then entered the Yodel black hole. Was finally delivered yesterday (13th) having been marked as 'out for delivery' 6 times. I've no doubt that as it was a small low value parcel it was a commercial decision to hold back delivery.
  22. She’s set a ‘net nanny’ on your PC to stop you shopping 😀
  23. It works fine for me http://www.lanarkshiremodels.com/
