  1. Given the date, could it be a summer SO service? Leicester - Llandudno and Blackpool were 1MXX, as were Yarmouth - Manchester, no doubt there were others. Mike.
  2. Being serious, ( for once!!), would there have been any domestic traffic, or was it all mining related? Mike.

  4. On the theme of more haste less speed, I find that building a test rig for pointwork, and making sure it is satisfactory before putting it on the layout, helps with progress, there's nothing worse than trying to fettle trackwork once it's laid. Mike.
  5. Hate to be pedantic, but, the handbrake on mine, and a few other cars, works on the front wheels, but I get your drift. Mike.
  6. Could have been worse, she might have asked for diamond pattern. Try explaining the lack of tongues and grooves on the 45 degree bits! Mike.

  8. Colwick Industrial Estate Railway in Nottingham. Mike.
  9. Pointless IMHO. You are negating the benefit of PB by putting brass in the way, and then there's the solder contact as well. To spread the contact area of wire pick ups, just put a loop on the end of the wire. Mike.

  13. Bramall Lane was the first floodlit stadium, powered by batteries and generators, but I don't know if there were towers. More research needed. Mike.
  14. If it's of any comfort, I can't get it in Spain either! I don't reckon much of the website either. Mike.
  15. Although the reverse applies if you drive a car from a certain European country, of course assuming the latter are used at all. Mike.
  16. Ikea already make mine; http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/cookware/knives-chopping-boards/l%C3%A4mplig-chopping-board-bamboo-art-00309829/ Others are available; http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/cookware/knives-chopping-boards/ Mike.
  17. Superb work as ever. Makes me smile when modellers say they are moving up to 7mm because their eyesight is going! Mike.
  18. Stupid question time, apologies, but, You're not trying to push them all the way on and pull them back are you? The pip in the middle will stop that. Mike.
  19. 3 at least Paul, along with the coke hoppers, horse box and a full variety of box vans and minerals, aah, those were the days. Edit. Thinking further, wouldn't these still be in Izal service at this date? Mike.
  20. Part of the issue was the fact Sheffield was running perfectly seviceable AEC Regent III's from the 1950's! Mike.
