  2. Bramall Lane was the first floodlit stadium, powered by batteries and generators, but I don't know if there were towers. More research needed. Mike.
  3. If it's of any comfort, I can't get it in Spain either! I don't reckon much of the website either. Mike.
  4. Although the reverse applies if you drive a car from a certain European country, of course assuming the latter are used at all. Mike.

  7. Stupid question time, apologies, but, You're not trying to push them all the way on and pull them back are you? The pip in the middle will stop that. Mike.
  8. 3 at least Paul, along with the coke hoppers, horse box and a full variety of box vans and minerals, aah, those were the days. Edit. Thinking further, wouldn't these still be in Izal service at this date? Mike.
  9. Part of the issue was the fact Sheffield was running perfectly seviceable AEC Regent III's from the 1950's! Mike.

  12. Not as much fun as the early seventies when we hired Edinburgh buses amongst others. Regrettably my STD bus slides aren't scanned, but there will be pics out there somewhere. Mike.
  13. The problem being that the same thing will happen if you use the handbrake, so is there an option?? Mike.

  15. You may well find that the Hornby grille is a different size to the Lima one and might not fit correctly. Mike.
  16. ISTR the foam "bufferstops" were actually an idea to replace sand drags, to try and cut down on damage to loco's when they overran loops etc. Mike.
  17. J2997. This could well be one of D7660 - D7677, unless it's a 1967 -1969 repaint, due to the 4 cabside arrows. Mike.
  18. Having dug into the photographic archive, details have come, if not flooding, at least trickling back. The route was Sheffield Midland, Nunnery Junction, (reverse), Dinting, (stop off at the Dinting Railway Centre), Manchester Piccadilly. I think we came back via the Hope Valley, but wouldn't guarentee it. Some photo's from the day, apologies for the quality, but it was very much month at f8 weather. Sheffield Victoria.; Woodhead tunnel. Western portal; The tour train at Dinting; Dinting Railway Centre, Whilst in Manchester a detour was made to Victoria. 45116 on a York - Liverpool. The tour train at Picadilly on it's way home; Mike.
  19. In a similar style to JD, a bus I once had an interest in, at it's birthplace. From the days when Doncaster had proper buses. Mike.
  20. I've only been hit from behind once, by a boy racer in a spoiler and flared wheel arch bedecked Corsa. He ran into my Hyundai panel van which had rear access steps which bolted on to the tow bar ball bracket and protruded a little. I now know how to remove a complete set, front to back, of Corsa fibre glass panels without any damage to myself. Mike.
  21. Me too, if you can't blind 'em with science, baffle 'em with bullsh!t! Mike.
