  1. Yes, you slack it down regularly but the dust that blows around is incredible and will not be helping.
  2. That is surely more the madness thread, by the look of it quite possibly a poor buy.
  3. Just to add 4930 has been withdrawn whilst an investigation takes place as to why it is setting fires. It has the same spark arrester as all the other engines. Mind you the current coal is not helping being very, very dusty. It was noticeable the only sparks coming out that I saw from 43106 was when the fireman had the doors open or was firing. Apart from that very few apart from when first starting away.
  4. Yup 5 - one at Sterns going south, at Kinlet sidings, at Northwood lane, Tenbury Wall and then at the top of Eardington. It was the right thing to pull it. As a result of the fire at Northwood we then had a landrover blocking the crossing and refusing to move and then later on a man mooning at a passing train. You cannot make it up :)
  5. Yes the 813 fund will be there, however the miniature railway is at Highley. If anyone is travelling on the local behind the Pig tomorrow afternoon from 3 onwards come and say hello as I've got my comfy slippers for a driving turn with her.
  6. Yup, me too. the more that do it, the more likely eBay is to do something.
  7. Simple - report it for price gouging.
  8. No, it was planned that it would happen during its V&P due over the winter months and was reiterated during a shed meeting two weeks ago.
  9. Coming back to 70 - she will be in Operation over the Gala with nameplates with black background leaving on the first train from Kidderminster on Thursday at 8am.
  10. Having got my money back on the previous lot of parts I managed to get another over the weekend. Certainly amongst it is all the etches for an Alan Gibson 2p (possibly less cab sides) plus other etches which can be sold on all for £19 which seems like a good deal. I still need to get rid of more of the other lot so they may have to end up on you know where.
  11. Are they no longer available from DJH or on Ebay?
  12. Absolutely. I have a memory from somewhere engines on the mainline can only operate with boiler tickets of less than 7 years and 70 is now beyond that. Bearing in mind she is due a large V&P in January it is probably fair to say that while it is in very good condition that it would need extra work for mainline certification which would not be able to be done in a very quick time. She was certainly being admired on todays Heritage tours (or at least the one I ran this morning)
  13. Shockingly it sold, it seems like price gouging Meanwhile the nameplates on 70 were removed today to be painted black during this week before Gala. What happens livery wise later is not yet laid out. At present the loco is due to be repainted over the winter when it has its heavy V&P. However events may have changed that. Time will tell.
  14. In respect to our mourning for our Queen, the nameplates are to be painted with a black background.
  15. View Advert Westward models GWR Grange kit Here we have a GWR Grange kit, what you see is what you get as it does not have its original box nor instructions, although from the photos you can see it goes together logically. Advertiser Blandford1969 Date 07/09/22 Price £50 Category OO / 4mm scale
  16. Wow, is all that can be said, when my laptop opening on your latest post I thought it was a photo of a tree you were going to model, rather than one you had actually modelled. Fantastic modelling
  17. Ah but at least we would know in advance, what with the CCTV and tilt equipment with its white flashing light to tell us its clear. There is a solution, a bridge, but its cost is 4 million. It would be nice to think the Geobear technology recently used just south of Hampton might be able to be used. To explain more south of Hampton a twist started to appear resulting in a 5mph speed restriction. An experimental treatment has been applied by Geobear to stabilise the land by injecting polymers of different types across the slip site. Hopefully in time that 5 will come off. Meanwhile the technology may be applied at Bewdley South to deal with a developing land slip. the photos show the background to the works at Hampton in the woods.
  18. It will be back in early January. David is hoping to get the Transport Treasury there along with some other new dealers. Meanwhile I will just try to remember to take everything with me next time, lol
  19. We had a good amount of rain last night together with thunder and lightening and I'm pleased to say it is raining again. If it keeps this up for the next few days it will start to make a real difference.
  20. As you know cameras, light and our own perception of colour which changes with age has an impact on how we perceive colour. That's staying put. . Reading comments like these and some of the others is like reading a thread on any given loco as a new model. 1.4 million pounds has been spent and all people can do is complain and critique what they may or may not think. The paint colour looks different in the flesh and the power classification is a stick on. Reading comments like these it is really no wonder that some look in on our hobby and shake their heads. To answer the next question I have been involved in the MPD for 34 years doing anything on the jobs list, which for Hagley was mainly scrapping and painting early on as a large amount of work by the apprentices.
  21. Just for clarity presently the following are not possible pending replacement of points - Platform 3 at Bewdley is not a through platform as the point at the north end needs new point switches. - At Kidderminster it is not possible to go from the loop to platform 1 again due to switches needing replacement. Right now its not what is or is not available that is what we need. What we need now is RAIN, steady rain for days and days. each day we are forecast rain and it does not come. Hopefully we will see some over the next week or so as right now we are on our third steam replacement of the summer.
  22. Here's something to make you think . In 1972 3205 was just 26 years old and 46521 was only 19 years old!
  23. I've gone from the challenge of dealing with work stress to the stress of needing to get a new job. Having been made redundant at the end of July you would have thought loads would have been done, but nothing could be further from the truth. I finally manged to do some yesterday thinking I would build the Finelines J 0-6-4 that came in the lot of very random kits. Somehow whatever they did to it made all the white metal very fragile. In trying to solder the footplate together the front corner totally fractured into pieces. Mojo gone and whilst a new footpate has been cut from brass that has taken all day to achieve. Tomorrow is a new day and at least Sunday has half a day of driving which always lifts my mood to aim to do a little on Monday.
  24. The problems China has faced with Covid and then the repercussions have been well documented. I'm sure Hornby will be wanting to recoup their investment.
