I alwys found the voice of the Mysterons a bit creepy until someone said they sounded like a man with an extreme case of constipation. They were never the same after that.

  6. Interesting how the classic 'steam loco smokebox door' design is sometimes perpetuated in the modern world...

Tim - come down is just what I did, after the ladder shifted a few inches up top, all by itself!! This, then, avoided any crash/bang/ouch situations! And yes, Hornbyandbf3fan, my advice is free and available at almost any time, bar the third Sunday of any month with a 'Z' in it...

Reminds me of trying to seal a roof in a gale after the slates blow off, at St Albans head in Dorset. Not a nice job.

Head hurts (out of carriage window injury)?

  12. These were pretty common through Cheddar, I believe.... (or would have been, if the line had survived - a 'might have been' aspect to your current projects, Rich?!)
  13. Rail Exclusives have written today, announcing a postponement in this project, due to a change of manufacturer. The letter advises that Heljan are no longer producing this model, but doesn't say who the new manufacturer will be. There seems every intent to continue with the project, and Phillip Sutton apologies for the delays to this model.

Sorry, not at all! Just an expression of grrrrr!

  17. Yes, they're still normally closed to road traffic, although the day shifts tend to be a bit busier than your nights!
  18. Absolutely beautiful work, Derek, really lovely, many thanks for showing us this!
  19. Great stuff, Al. The paving surface on the platform is particularly convincing!
