  1. Why haven't I seen this one before, it's only been four years or so!!! How did the build go, Stu?!
  2. I have a theory about the Finching sisters... I think they are really half-sisters, same mother, different fathers. One of them is clearly the love child of Algernon Cuthbertson... The other, well, I'm not so sure, but her Teutonic features may be marking her out as the product of an insane night of South Hams passion between their mother and that Prussian on the run, Horst Arschenbaum....
  3. Where did you obtain the servos, please Rich? Thanks.

    Merry Christmas

Lovely photo, really enjoyed seeing the layout at Railex this year, have a great Christmas!
  7. All pre-Christmas checks and chores seem to finally be done, CTMK has just put her favourite CD of Christmas Crooners on the CD player, and we're having sausages for tea! Bliss!

      Homemade sausage rolls here.

  8. Well, I've suggested that he take on the role of the 'Water Board' himself and consider the tarmac as a purely temporary expedient, with fresh cobbles to be laid as his first and prime New Year's Resolution...
  9. I think you've captured the shape of the western portal well, there!
  10. Happy Christmas & New Year to you likewise, Robin, and may your brilliant work continue to inspire us onwards into 2014!

Well, Mark, in response to your earlier suggestions about donning oil skins etc., I did just that earlier, but forgot about the sausages...

  12. I rather like the idea of one of these, in preference to a J15 or an EM2...
  13. No, I've decided that overhead electrics aren't quite the thing, not yet anyway. I think a sweet little Heljan 05 might cure me of these sausage withdrawal symptoms...

If he wants a shunter, that's another use for a J15...

  14. Bored with thoughts of a J15. Now then, a cute little EM1 would be nice, though!...

At last, 40 years of persuasion, CK has finally seen that there is more to railway modelling than the S&D, trouble is he needs therapy.....

Is there anything more Cornish than a J15? :-D

  16. Ha! Fooled the lot of you! I don't really want a J15, no, not at all. They never ran on the S&D, did they? Nope, never came near the place.... Eh? Wot's that? Whatjumean, I can't change my mind now?! Nurse!!!

Mr Kernow, I don't think you are ready to be let out into society just yet, maybe another operation will effect a cure...

Maybe not on the S&D, CK. But J15s did run on the CAMBRIAN! And J25s and Buckjumpers and C13s too (yes, honestly). It was all due to the War, you know...

  17. I really want a J15, I can't wait, I want it now...

  20. Only found out yesterday that the train actually came down yesterday, and is going back today, 17/12/13, so sorry about that, anyone who wanted to go and look at it tomorrow, but there will be more traffic soon!
  21. Thank you to those who have helped me last night try to understand the concept of the 'LNER'. I've now learned that seagulls wear heels over in that neck of the woods, and display them to gentlemen wearing copper caps.... so thanks, that really clears things up for me!...

LNER another four lettered swear word.

  22. Now then, I've got home and looked a few things up. I think I've got the measure of what a 'J15' is, and I've seen a photo of a Claud Hamilton. I'm still a bit unsure about Claude Hamilton. I thought a K1 might have been a bit like the old operating publication - the 'K2' (it's a Western thing... ;-) ), but I'm now a bit stumped. What exactly was this entity 'the LNER?' Can't have been that important, 'cos I don't have any books on it

According to a totally unreliable source a J15 was involved on trials on the S&D before finishing up around the Bristol/South Glos area so I'm lead to believe? :D

    3. Bon Accord

      Bon Accord

The LNER was that august organisation which built 'Seagull', this being the odd wedge shaped engine which showed a clean pair of heels to those copper capped efforts in 1948!
