  1. There was a FO diagram which took a set to New St from (I think) York, which returned ECS. Sorry, I can't remember the dates it ran, I saw some pictures at Dore heading down the Derby route at a recent RCTS meeting. Douglas
  2. Many thanks tc, as you say, it's a little fiddly but can be achieved. Now where's my credit card! Douglas
  3. Bit of a long shot, has anyone re-gauged a set to EM or P4 and if so, was it straightforward? I'm a bit reluctant to spend over £200 on spec. Douglas
  4. I think there was one based in the old carriage shed at Craven Arms. Douglas
  5. 86632+86637 with a southbound 'liner at Little Strickland, 31/07/92. (Click on the picture for a better quality image).
  6. The chap (Gareth) who updated their website moved to South Wales a few years ago, might be worth giving John Medley a ring on the number quoted on the site. Douglas
  7. I've had the same response from Hattons,"take it or leave it". They did offer a full refund or replacement with pristine post TOPS but as I model 1971 that's not really an option. It's frustrating, one could almost make a case for misrepresentation on Hattons part but I'll just have to make the best of it. Going to try and completely strip all the paint off one of the wagons and take it from there.
  8. Actually it was the Tyne Bridge at the end of the final episode where Geordie is seen walking south across it.
  9. A typical West Highland June day, clouds down over the hilltops and not a sign of any sunshine. The steam heating boiler on 37027 seems to be working well as it departs Bridge of Orchy with the afternoon Fort William to Glasgow train.
  10. 37401+37427 head towards Rannoch Moor with an SRPS excursion from Dunbar to Mallaig, 1st May 2004. Click on the picture for a better quality image.
  11. And here's 47972 approaching Garsdale on the S & C with a planned Glasgow - Euston diversion on 18th November 1995. Click on the image for better quality.
  12. 37113 runs through Newcastle with a train of track panels and spoil, 11th June1978. Click on the image for better quality.
  13. Sadly I believe these tours will be formed of mostly Mk2 aircons, with a diesel on the rear (47?) to power the train supply. I know I'm cutting of my nose to spite my face but this is a big "no" from me. Douglas
  14. I had a similar experience in the past. The flue from my boiler (in the garage) passed through the unused downstairs toilet (also in the garage) and was boxed in, I had to take off one side of the box so it could be inspected. All I got on the engineers report was "not to current standard". Douglas

  18. Mine's arrived this morning, only had time for a quick look, the roof isn't as garish as I was expecting. Won't have a chance to run it for a few days but first impressions look good. The top headcode discs had both detached during transit and one of them has made a tiny scratch just above where the disk sits, but it's not worth returning it for that. Douglas
  19. I'd like to bring to peoples attention an amazing piece of customer service from Accurascale. A couple of weeks back I mentioned on a layouts Facebook site that I'd had a few wagons delivered where the brake lever guards were slightly mis-shaped. Not the end of the world you'd think but I was contacted by Patrick Conroy, Accurascale's Research, Development and New Projects Director offering to have the wagons concerned collected and replaced. I was quite taken aback by this but asked if it were possible to obtain some replacement guards and some handbrake levers as I'd damaged some whilst converting them to EM. Sure enough, a supply of guards arrived earlier this week with the promise of handbrake levers to follow. Splendid customer service in my view and as soon as my credit card has recovered, I'll be ordering some of the upcoming Cemflows. Douglas
  20. I ordered mine on 09/09/2010 but haven't heard from them yet, it's paid for so I'm sure it won't be long. I'm sure they've got a fair few orders to wade through! Douglas
  21. No, they only signed as far as Birmingham as I stated, they were conducted the rest of the way. See post #34 of the original thread from 4 years ago. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/89789-westerns-in-the-north-east/page-2 Douglas
  22. On at least three occasions in the early 70's, a Western reached York with car trains from Cowley for export through Middlesbrough Docks. Worked by Oxford men to York, who returned light to Oxford after the train had been re-engined. They were conducted Landor St - York & return by crew who did sign the route. This was mentioned a couple of years ago on here, a chap who was a freight guard at Oxford worked two of them and mentioned it on the thread. Douglas
