  1. That's correct David, have a look at this fabulous film of the operation shot in 1975, there's a brief clip at approx 21 minutes showing how it works. Worth watching the whole film though. Douglas
  2. I'm guessing you mean these? https://www.flickr.com/photos/127282573@N03/38436709960/in/photolist-2hWQWyK-24gPPoC-21ywbKS-N2HSDE
  3. Don't remember that, maybe before my time (I was born in 1959). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walnut_Whip
  4. Is it my imagination or did Walnut Whips used to contain a second walnut inside the cone of chocolate on the base? Douglas
  5. Slightly OT but I thought you might like this picture of 25007 as you mentioned it in your post. Douglas
  6. This could be TH213v of 1969, there's mention of it at Aberthaw Cement Works up to 2008, no reports since so presumed scrapped.
  7. Eccles Colliery, Backworth, 1973. Hunslet 2864 of 1943 takes water. Not very good quality I'm afraid, scanned from an Instamatic negative.
  8. 70013 Oliver Cromwell is the most recent one I can find, on 9th April 2011 - see; http://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/10s/110409rt.htm Hope this helps. Douglas
  9. Patrick from Accurascale has confirmed to me that drop in replacement wheelsets will be offered for the Deltic as well as the 37, it's still a "work in progress" and further information will follow in due course. Douglas
  10. Does anyone know when the nameplate bolts were removed from the bodyside of D6704? I know nameplates were fitted in April 1964 (2nd East Anglian Regiment) but never unveiled and then removed the following month. I've not been able to find a picture of it in this livery to tie this down. Douglas
  11. Can I ask if provision will be made for conversion to EM/P4 as has been the case on previous announcements? Can't see anything in this one. Douglas
  12. Thoroughly enjoying these uploads of industrial steam, thanks for all the pictures. The ones from Comrie in 1982 look like they were taken on 9/4/82 as I was at Comrie that day on an organised visit to see the steam and ride the branch to the exchange sidings (hence the brake van). Steam was only kept in use as a standby to an 08 hired in from BR and only steamed for special visits, like the one I was on. One of my pictures from that day https://www.flickr.com/photos/127282573@N03/30296831108/in/photolist-2ahA4yV-Naebn3
  13. David, Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. Having come to the conclusion that the existing bogies cannot be re-wheeled (too narrow), I'd looked at the Stenson Models bogies but noticed that Cambrian Models sell ready made bogies of the correct type, so I've ordered a pair to see if they can be used. If not, I'll have a go at the Stenson kit. Very impressed with your workmanship by the way, having just read your Workbench thread. I'll have to keep an eye on this for further inspiration. Thanks again, Douglas
  14. Bought one this morning to ascertain ease (or otherwise) for re-wheeling to EM. Definitely not a straight drop in, will have to give this some thought. Nice model though.
  15. Just had an email from Hattons stating expected into stock Aug/Sept. Douglas
  16. That was my favourite too, such a shame it's no longer available. Douglas
  17. Yes, I parked in there on Sunday at approx 10:30 and left at 14:30. There were 3 cars on arrival and 2 cars and the Bachmann van when I left.
  18. IIRC china clay slurry is loaded here and goes to both the Caledonian Paper Mill at Irvine and to Workington Docks (Iggesund?).
  19. The first thing that went through my head when I saw your picture of the Trinity Buoy that you posted yesterday was.....The Wicker Man !
  20. It was a driver training/handling run for DBC crews as they have at least one charter using this loco this summer. The wagon was one which had been previously been crippled and needed moving to Newbiggin for offloading. Douglas
  21. 50021 heads west at Elm Hill, near Gillingham with the 13:10 Waterloo - Exeter on 30/5/88.
  22. Fran, Just to let you know I've managed to sort it now and have emailed Richard to confirm. Thanks again for such a superb wagon and your usual excellent customer service. Looking forward to the Deltic and whatever other goodies you're planning to throw our way in the future. Thanks again, Douglas
  23. 86419 at Beck Foot with a Glasgow - Euston relief, Easter Monday 4/4/88.
