  1. It's nice to see that they are progressing, although it took about another 15 months for the OO version to go from engineering prototype to being available in the shops, so I reckon that we may not even see the final product until early 2020!
  2. No, he's done The Reassembler shows for the Beeb since then.
  3. I'm guessing that Hornby will want it to be broadcast in say November....
  4. It was a bit disingenuous of the NER to call it an Electric Autocar though!
  5. Wow, I never realised that there was film of the aftermath of that awful Cheadle Hulme crash.
  6. Also there's some nice shots here of the Partington sidings 47330 Shell Chemical Plant Partington 28th November 1984 by Skelton80s, on Flickr 47330 ( 57312 ) Shell Chemical Plant Partington 28th November 1984 by Skelton80s, on Flickr 47330 Partington Junction 28th November 1984 a by Skelton80s, on Flickr 47330 Shell Chemical Plant Partington 28th November 1984 a by Skelton80s, on Flickr Partington Junction 3rd March 1984 by Skelton80s, on Flickr 25175 Partington Junction 2nd October 1985 by Skelton80s, on Flickr 47330 Partington Junction 28th November 1984 b by Skelton80s, on Flickr Partington Junction by Glenn MacLeod, on Flickr
  7. Did these wagons carry "private owner" containers from the start or was that a later innovation?
  8. I was wondering about that at first, but they do mention on some of the commentary that it's a passenger train so I'm guessing that it was a railtour.
  9. If I was Dapol I'd be slightly concerned that they were releasing a whole new swathe of Class 68 models when retailers are heavily reducing the price of the ones that they already have in stock.
  10. I've just found some footage of shunting at the Collyhurst Street Terminal which shows that they used the ICI Hoppers. https://youtu.be/tmOLFFNRJs0?t=409
  11. There was a Tilcon stone depot at Miles Platting, but I don't know what wagons they used. There's also the trains to the Hope St Terminal which used what look like PGAs?? 37092 + 37238 Peakstone Terminal Hope Street Salford 09/05/85 by Rudolf_Diesel_V16, on Flickr
  12. Buy two of the Gaugemaster Combi at £35-40 each.
  13. What I find curious about the 1909 picture is that a lot of the track in the station throat is embedded in stone setts as if it's a dockyard or a goods yard!
  14. I came across this picture on Flickr and I thought I'd post it as it might make for an interesting and colourful livery variation for the Hornby model. . 0-4-0DH RR 10204/1965 named 'Jean' at Paddock Wood. Transfesa Terminal. by Adrian Nicholls, on Flickr
  15. Interesting that they have stated the batch quantities, as I thought that these were usually a commercial secret for non-limited editions?
  16. Wow, I don't think I've ever seen any film of the Manchester Pullman before!
  17. Well if he's looking for a gap in the N gauge market how about a POA/SSA scrap wagon? It has always amazed me that Bachmann never shrunk down their OO SSA for their Farish range.
  18. That's why you would think that the whole platform trackwork would would be replaced fairly frequently.
  19. What amazed me was when the rail maintenance crew said that some of the rails in the platforms were 30 years old! It's no wonder they kept having problems with derailments and track circuits.
  20. "Is that a J70 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?"
  21. 4 Glass Selves with pugs for inside the display case. Are they ex L&Y Pugs?
  22. "Must be willing to be asked "When is xxxxxxxx being released" several hundred hundred times a day at exhibitions and events without committing a murder"
  23. I was just going to say that Ben is trying to con us all by sticking oversized couplers on the old Hornby model.
  24. I'm really pleased about the 128 as I thought that a N Gauge version was unlikely with Heljan having produced an 00 version. "when the proprietor of this new company approached us with a model already completed" I do find it a bit odd that an unknown company would produce a model on spec like that.
