  1. Nothing I’m aware of . Revolution announced 320/321 in OO just ahead of the show , as others have said Rapido have the Fireless loco and Accurascale announced maroon mk1 s . I think that’s it .
  2. Just been to Model Rail Scotland . Some great tenements in either low relief or full scale available from popupdesigns.co.uk . Seriously tempted except I need to figure out how to incorporate it into my layout . Some great laserprinted models there though including a Caley signal box that I might well, buy tomorrow . It’s not often you see Glasgow tenements though and these certainly looked the part .
  3. To be honest I’ve forgotten what I’ve ordered . Looking forward to it arriving though . I think I did a miixture of 2bs and 2cs based on my review of them at Model Rail Scotland 2023 . I know the 2bs were Hattons ( because at that stage sold out at Accurascale) and Accurascale have taken the allocation . Just looking forward to them
  4. From Model Rail Scotland . The HST looks and sounds superb . Also Duchess and Staniers . I believe the HST is in the country am]nc imminent
  5. I’m thoroughly enjoying it . I can’t see any sign of decline in model railways . Yes Fridays were full of men of certain ages, but then we are retired and can go on a weekday . But went Saturday and it’s full of families and younger guys , so I think predictions of the death of the hobby are wide of the mark . Today I had a new appreciation for Almond Bridge , ok I’ve seen it a few times before , but they succeeded in keeping something on the move most of the time and some really good stock . Reevy Road also superb with lots of trains passing . Class 56s (assuming these were the new Cavalex ones ) 20, 25,31,37,40,47,55 , 56 and HSTs , really non stop action . Well done guys . Prompted me to make another visit tomorrow ….. why not it’s only once a year ! Really enthused by Model Rail Scotland . Well done again AMRSS
  6. yes toilets were well hidden except by the massive sign above , but then not everyone looks up . What you can do is go outside the hall and sit down and take refreshment , as long as you are stamped you can get back in again just back from second day, nice talking to Phil on the BRM stand . The show is growing on me , may even go back for a third helping . Now I’m retired I’ll just shove Sunday activities into Monday .
  7. Inspired I think . These liveries certainly creating talking points and goodwill to GB Railfreight
  8. Went today , I reckon for about 4 hours and going back tomorrow . While I took an overview of the layouts there is much more to explore. . Always thoroughly enjoyable . We all missed 2021 because of Covid but then I got Covid and missed 2022! , Apart from that I’ve been there every year continuously since 1973 , and I think either 69 or 70before that . For me it’s one of the highlights of the year . I still miss the great days of the MacLellan galleries but it’s been in the shed since 89/90? Have to say that the SEC seem to have invested in black curtains since last time which to me made the hall a bit oppressive . Either that or it’s the Scottish Undertaking Show next week ! The headliner layout Eastfield was stupendous . Eastfield TMD in O Gauge 40 feet by 70 feet I think . Really impressive . However, they did have some tech difficulties which meant when I passed about 11. 15 there was nothing running . When I passed later the outer circuit seemed to be going but no movement in the TMD itself , which was a bit of a shame . There is an extension to Glasgow Queen St which when complete will be even more impressive . Hopefully it will be running more tomorrow . Might be one of the downsides in allocating so much floor space to a single layout - if it has a problem . operating did seem to be an issue in lots of layouts with not much movement . Again hopefully better tomorrow maybe after settling in and some tweaks made . Wellpark was the star of the show but I am admittedly biased as I like railways around Glasgow and class 303s . Looking forward to looking more at Edinburgh and Lothians “Yetts O Muckhart “ tomorrow . I remember their Glendevon layout and this looks superb . Ddualt looked good and was running well and Fountainhill TMD was also entertaining with locos moving in and out of shed , even though TMDs not really my thing , it held me . Donaghadee. A revelation . I recognise the sea front and a pub I’ve actually stayed in about 10 years ago little realising there had been a railway behind it , and I’m usually pretty good at recognising railway artefacts ! That’s probably one of the memorable layouts for me this year . No bargains that I could see . Looking forward to more tomorrow .
  9. Interesting . If it increases availability and gets Hornby brands into the High St , got to be good .
  10. Yes very touching . Truly you can say they did it well right to the end . Not many businesses can say that . Well done and best wishes to all
  11. I’m sure Model Rail Scotland at the Exhibition Centre in Glasgow will be accentuating the positive today . Revolution have already made my day by announcing a 320 . There is a lot to look forward to
  12. Crimson and cream on the 320 please . Then you’d have the matching set
  13. Deeply jealous you actually drive these trains !
  14. Superb news . I had been hoping for 313/314 but the Revolution guys told me someone else had been measuring it up . You can understand why they don’t want to go head to head, although whoever it is is taking a damn long time to announce and I suspect may have gone off idea . Anyhoo, you can see then that a 320/321 is the next best thing and I’ll almost certainly be signing up for at least one and possibly more depending on the liveries . Well done to the Revolution team !
  15. I think scenery and some attempt at realistic operation . Mine is unashamedly a train set . I just enjoy watching the trains go round and round .
  16. Oh dear , I see the RN has just suffered another embarrassing misfire of a Trident missile . Even worse Grant Schapps was aboard for it . I know they are probably not related , with the problems over QEs propellers , but it does make you wonder about our state of preparedness .
  17. Every two weeks I travelled from Glasgow via Bristol to Swansea . Then Covid hit and we all went to video conferencing . When the restrictions were lifted it was realised that I and a good may others really didn’t need to travel, so for the last few years I worked entirely from home . It’s not all it’s cracked up to be , you can feel quite isolated and occasionally days passed where you never saw another soul ! Thank goodness for RMWeb ! However the only real losers were easyJet,Europcar and Ibis ! Now happily retired it was actually a good transition
  18. Ahh catering g for the Scottish area modeller. Clever move ahead of Model Rail Scotland . Definitely tempted by these .
  19. Cadbury had a depot at Potterhill in Paisley . It was rail connected although the branch was G&SWR . I think it lasted until late 60s /early 70s , so could that be a source of the Cadburys vans? Normally I don’t even look at Rapido wagons , viewing them as way too expensive . I still think wagons should be £10 but I might have to have a dabble with this one .
  20. Now that you are doing a 323 in OO , hopefully a success for you , more multiple units please . I bang on about 313/314/315/507/508. But you also have 317/318/455 and even units like 303s that I’m sure would be well received . And of course there are several dmu classes that you could model . First and second generation . Given that you have now designed an mu you could probably capitalise on it . Even if Bachmann were looking at the 313 , you would probably still bring it in under their price .
  21. I prefer UK layouts but I’m interested in others too . There was a fantastic US layout at Model Rail Scotland , either 2019 and 2020 that I spent ages studying . Similarly I’m very into Swiss or German layouts , but there don’t seem to be much of the latter - certainly not electrified mainlines with DB Class 103s , the iconic loco when I was growing up . To be honest I’ll pretty much look at any layout if it’s interesting and being operated well . Ones which I tend to ignore are Diesel Motive Power depots as really operationally all you get is locos moving on or off shed . Just don’t find the operation terribly interesting .
  22. No because these were steps forward and promising a new generation of models . The Bachmann 31 will be of equivalent standard to Accurascale .
