  1. The lights on the loco will flash as well, not much help in a kettle, but as it a diesel, it's probably not getting too hot. Regards, John P
  2. With regard to the UK VAT issue, it could just be a cultural thing. While Sales Taxes in Canada are not as fragmented as those in the US they do differ by Province/Territory. So, like the US, the prices that you see at a shop or online DO NOT INCLUDE any applicable tax, that gets added at the checkout. It's also highly likely that the software that KR use to do their online sales follows the same model. So unless KR were to set up a UK enterprise it's not surprising, to me at least, that their prices don't include tax. Regards, John P
  3. Hi, So I'm running version 1.42 on a Z21 Black and the new app on an iphone, version 1.4.7, I had no issues accessing function numbers F20 to F23 on my ESU equipped locos. Regards, John P
  4. Thanks, I don't have any Zimo sound decoders but I do use the Z21 and I have a couple of locos with ESU sound decoders. I'll take a look later and check if I can use F20 to F31. Regards, John P
  5. Which Z21 app are you using? This one Or this one Regards, John P
  6. Yes. That's why you would need to use a solid state juicer such as the ones made by Tam Valley, rather than relay based ones such as the Digitrax offering. Regards, John P
  7. Hi, For Tortoise point motors you don't need two power supplies. I used an old laptop power supply with the laptop connector cut off. You then use a Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) Switch to change the polarity of the voltage going to the Tortoise motor. Like this. Regards, John P
  8. Probably a better question for the iTrain forum. Regards, John P
  9. I agree with @Oldddudders and @WIMorrison Asking which is the best is like asking which is the best car for sale in the UK. Although it's probably fair to say that the Hornby offering won't be top of any list. Regards, John P
  10. My wife and adult children know very little. But they do know that the stuff on my Christmas list is probably the stuff that I want. Alternatively my wife says "buy what you want and I'll wrap it up for you", which is a bit boring really. Regards, John P
  11. Well I've just ordered two Sound fitted Orange ones from Rails, plus some Autoballasters to make up a complete rake. What with the likely price of the next run of Zimo decoders, the wait for these to arrive, and the VAT deduction that I get living in the US, I reckon an incremental price of about 40 quid is well worth it. Here's the sums 250 - 165 = 85 85 * 0.8333 = 70.8 (VAT added at 20% so you subtract 16.66% from the price with VAT, before anyone starts 😀 ) 70.8 - 30 = 40 (I'm guessing new Zimo's will be about 30 quid, who knows?) The only question now is, will they arrive for my birthday at the end of the month? Regards, John P
  12. Please don't buy an Orange one, I want need two of them 😀 I also want to buy from Rails as I can then include some JJA's as well. Regards, John P
  13. I called Rails of Sheffield today about that, they get marked out of stock until they have fulfilled all their pre-orders. I would check again tomorrow, as they said that the stock levels then would reflect the true numbers. Regards, John P
  14. Hi @ianb3174 I don't know where you got this information but you should not have plugged the Roco router into your Virgin Hub. Roco DO provide some guidance on how to connect their hub to an existing home network BUT they only recommend this for users who have some networking experience. So you'll need to reconfigure the TP Link router to have an IP address of 192.168.0.1, the ZERO is important, that determines the subnet that the router is using. The Z21 is configured to use an IP address of 192.168.0.111. Based on you earlier posts it looks like your router has an address of 192.168.1.1 and that's why you can't connect to the Z21 proper. So you have two options. First make sure that the Roco TP Link router is NOT connected to your Virgin hub. 1) It sounds like you know how to login to the TP Link router, if you can then reset it's IP address to 192.168.0.1 2) Alternatively reset it using the reset button on the back and then go to this web page: https://www.z21.eu/en/downloads/manuals then scroll down and under Technical Downloads, download the Z21 router configuration manual and follow the instructions to change the router's Wifi Network Name. Note you'll need a PC connected directly to one of the Ethernet ports on the router to do this. Then, as long as you keep the Roco router physically separate, both your home router and the Roco router can have the same ip address because they are not on the same network. Hope this helps. Regards, John P
  15. It's me again. So if the only livery difference is the yellow body side then I think that might be within my limited skills to repaint the two that I already have. Alternatively persuade someone to produce some vinyl overlays or whole bodyside transfers. It might be my imagination but in that photo of 6C73 it looks like the JJA's have a bit of blue still showing, top and bottom of the yellow. Regards, John P
  16. I was worried that someone might say that. Being in the US, my Christmas and Birthday presents have already been ordered & delivered. Now there's these and the Farish CL90's due in the shops this coming week. There being too many new models that I would like is a nice dilemma to have though. Thanks, John P
  17. Thanks, I think a mixed rake with the Railtrack wagons heavily weathered is on the cards. Did Network Rail bother painting over the Railtrack logos, or did they just wait for a complete repaint? John P
  18. What's a prototypical rake look like? I already have a couple of the Railtrack ones too. Regards, John P
  19. So 14 days left and counting. The bad news is that as I live in the US< my family have already had to buy my railway related presents. Otherwise they wouldn't get here in time. Regards, John P
  20. They are going to create an entirely new market segment supported by online only sales. It'll be halfway between OO and O and will be called TTO (Two Thirds O). John P
  21. Well maybe I'm doing something wrong as I don't have a subscription or Ad Blockers but I wouldn't call these ads 'intrusive' Regards, John P
  22. Plus Revolution Trains, Rapido, Sonic, and Kato, depending on your tastes of course. Regards, John P
  23. Not my post, but it's Coldfield not Coalfield. Regards, John P
  24. They preserved the flying arches at Chorley so I don't see any reason why a listed footbridge shouldn't be given the same treatment. Regards, John P
