  1. That was exactly my take on it, and the original was said to based on solid DNA evidence as you say, but just recently this other theory* raised its head. * and it appeared to be a solid statement on a news report from recognised scientists, I thought they said WHO, but could be mistaken.
  2. Cannot not agree with that......it’s OK I watched a QI last night featuring double negatives
  3. I didn’t get the gist of the original post, the link supplied went to the general Bat site place, nothing specific, that’s all. As an aside it does look like it might be edging towards manufactured virus now (after the experts saying it couldn’t be) or that’s what was reported a few weeks ago, gone a bit quiet again though.
  4. No idea how that worked then as it was sold brand new by Bell & Colvill in Surrey, that’s the reason they had it in stock as a “needing repair” one owner, it had been badly neglected and apart from that the front chassis turrets were so riddled with rust when you pressed down on the wings you could see the top mounts moving inboard! Thankfully they don’t make’em like that anymore......a little bit too much of Chapman’s less is more philosophy.
  5. No, I sold it not long after I restored it, probably ran it for about six months then wanted something else.....I wish I did still have it, would be worth a darn sight more than I sold it for back then
  6. Indeed, Mrs BB had to travel up country two weeks ago to look after little’uns when they had a little brother come on the scene, she remarked on the train journey that it was very good indeed (apart from the slow progress and waiting around at stations, partly due to the sudden 800 issues) as she said the seating arrangement suited her very well having the seating area all to herself, but she also gave up half way into the journey and took her PPE mask off and just covered up with her scarf, she did actually ask the train guard/manager (whatever they are called now) and he said it was fine. Leaving me at home is a plus, actually getting quite a bit done on the layout now
  7. I still have his book on the Lotus cars...well Europa and Elans......it’s his writing that lead me to buy an Elan and rebuild it from the ground up, well it was only about five or six years old when I bought it as a “just about” runner from Bell & Colvill......they’d never be able,to get away with it today He was a brilliant writer, alas not many like him any more just as none like LJK......their writing was my bread and butter back then.
  8. With our current (no pun intended) supplier our i3 is managing 4p/mile......if I am careful and drive like a nun it’ll come down to just over 3p/miles.......and that’s on just normal 24 hr elec rate, although quite good at about 15.5p Kw I remember. It is a shock seeing some of the rates that come up on the Rapids now, I know they cost a fortune to install so they have to get a rerun of course, but doesn’t make difference when you plug in.
  9. And besides the under nose accoutrements are slightly more dense than dear old Terry’s.......bless him. I absolutely loved any film he was in.....
  10. And that’s the beauty (for the manufacturers) of EVs, it is so much more easy to package the vehicle systems and drivetrain components (as there are so few of them) you only have to look under the bonnet of a modern ICE to see you need fingers like feeler gauges to check the oil! When I worked in the industry packaging was a headache for the component engineers, they were always asking other engineers if they could move the alternator a bit, or put the battery on the other side of the bay, can the wiper mechanism be shifted....all sorts of bargaining and badgering went on just to get everything in the limited space available.
  11. I think the manufacturers will have to entice people into the service area with this kind of carrot, after all EVs are much more reliable than ICE vehicles, not half as many (by far!) bits in the powertrain to go wrong, the actual repair work is I believe going to fall of the cliff for garages.
  12. This is getting a bit silly now......when we went on longer journeys (we haven’t for almost two years now!) in the i3 it really didn’t matter where we charged on the Motorway or off, the charges were relatively comparable, now we see all these different charge rates coming and payed for membership “discounts” (which really rules us out as a very occasional user), from now on it will be a journey with pre searched cheaper chargers, there ain’t no way I am paying 40p/Kw......it’s getting like in the 70’s when you went past the Esso garage because the Shell one is cheaper.
  13. I had a quick skim and it says the each years/mileage service warranty is exactly the same as the original Toyota new vehicle warranty, so it just has those normal exclusions I guess, the usual like wear and tear and service items. It made me wonder if with the advent of many more EVs on the road soon this kind of service/warranty might be more widespread?
  14. This an interesting move from Toyota.......new car warranty for 10yrs/100,000 miles (15 years EV with the hybrid/battery health check) https://mag.toyota.co.uk/toyota-warranty-how-it-works/
  15. You should try the 800s then, bloomin’ awful and the reason we stopped using the train to visit family up country , the HSTs were luxury in comparison.
  16. Just speculating, well guessing really.....if that was a loaded KUA it would have the guard and another Loco (usually) with it, presumably it’s an empty KUA and as empty it would be vastly lighter than loaded, I would have thought a single 37 could easily handle a single unladen KUA? As I say no idea just thinking aloud.
  17. That looks eerily like our WW rep.....that could explain a lot.
  18. I must admit I thought that way before going to Slimming World, Mrs BB was the one that wanted to go and I was “nah, I don’t wanna sit with a load of women and listen to them gossiping”......but in actual fact I enjoyed it, and as you say it really is worthwhile support. Where as WW really was a boring meeting, and I ain’t not never going back there.
  19. As I said previously we found Slimming World worked really well, but two years ago our Doctor sent me an invitation to Weight Watchers ( or WW as they prefer now ) so I went for about 4 months until lockdown stopped play, I found WW absolutely useless (and everyone else on the same course were quite disparaging about it) it seemed to us all the rep wanted to do every meeting was sell us some silly bit of carp, I suppose it must depend upon the rep you get lumbered with but with WW we never lost an ounce!
