  1. But the dipswitch (headlamp flash) works when light switch is off…….it does on every vehicle I know of.
  2. Wow…..when did it start in the 19th century?
  3. Unfortunately all the research finds otherwise, which is why they are mandated.
  4. You may have been tongue in cheek but have you seen the latest Hornby news? Moving to models with 21 pin decoder sockets…….when everyone else is going to Next18* Having said that the new water vapour smoke generator is looking promising. *and Plux22
  5. They are from 2018 an MoT fail if fitted DRLs are disabled or faulty.
  6. No we didn’t……but ”Vehicle manufacturers must fit DRL to new types of passenger car and light goods vehicle (car derived vans) type approved to European vehicle requirements from February 2011[footnote 1] . In practice this means that any new model launched after this date, and many launched before, will be fitted with DRL. However, existing models on sale before this date without DRL fitted can continue to be sold and used indefinitely.” which is why you see lots of recent reg’d cars/vans without DRLs they have been in production long enough not to require them.
  7. Not many modern cars do have front fog lights any more as the modern multi pattern headlamps don’t produce the beam scatter in fog like the old headlamps used to.
  8. I thought it was the other way around.
  9. First Goldfinch of the year today…no picture I was making a cup of tea……for me, not the Goldfinch
  10. Although I tend to find a lot of people put their rear fog lamps on when visibility is still good (just a bit misty and still normal rear lamps easily visible) but no doubt they are the same people who then leave their rear fog lights on for the next thirty clear miles! And don’t get me started on front fog lamps
  11. Thinking about it I suppose really on these kind of models you need a motor controller/sound chip (ie bog standard) in the motor car and a smaller non motor control chip but which has sound for horns and light control in each driving car. Don't think I have seen anything like that so far.
  12. Ya’ gonna have to open’er up cap’t edit: a V5 micro will go in there easily but you’ll need to site the speaker above within the body somewhere, I’ve not opened mine up, just fitted a non sound decoder.
  13. We used to swap each rally Nav and driving……Nav I wasn’t my favourite pastime I preferred my 2002tii to his sprite/Aston DBV8/Jag XJV12………oh yes he was the rich mate
  14. The only “incident” I had road rallying was in my mates sprite I was navigating and he as usual driving too bloomin’ fast and at a very “90deg hard right” easy to mistake for “straight on flat out”…………well the sprite crossed the 10 foot ditch and into the Earth bank the other side, luckily my door popped open and I managed to get out unharmed (seatbelts always!) but ended up two foot deep in the ditch water…..the Sprite was about a foot shorter in total!
  15. Aha OK….just you said APT……no worries.
  16. Not sure but the old one is as smooth as silk with a V5 Loksound fitted (and was excellent on D.C.).
  17. As I mentioned before there are classes within IP law of “passing off” and “lookalike” both of which are solid cases for litigation, it is for lawyers and a judge to decide how close to the wind this product will be sailing.
  18. Those were the unsuccessful trials
  19. Which is why many toys have “not suitable for ages under” so they can be toys but toys with small parts and details that would not pass legislation for a toy for 3 year olds.
  20. I am sure she would have, she lodged in most door frames…..
  21. Yes, I actually think it was 1070 PJ thinking more about it now, that’s interesting as we lived in Essex at the time, so not a big journey to its final resting place
