  1. Whereas I sold my ECoS and went back to my Lenz Set 100, it's bombproof reliability for me every time. Andi
  2. In this video is a 14 car Hornby APT on my layout. The layout has long gradients. the APT is powered from one of the central power cars using a central can motor mech and flywheels/cardan shafts to Heljan bogie towers. There are no traction tyres. The power car is pushing six vehicles and pulling seven. If I can build by hand a mech that will shift that lot with no problem there is no reason on earth a factory cannot turn out a mechanism capable of doing the same. Please please please leave the traction tyres in the nearest skip. https://youtu.be/boiIcPWZz3c?t=247 Andi
  3. Can I just say http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/87205-sheffield-exchange-what-a-to-do/?p=3114212... Hope the 2P is ok, park it next to the hymek and they can sympathise with each other Andi
  4. I took your advice, trouble is that halfway around the course the damned thing decided to pullover Andi
  5. I would never play Rick Astley either, but it seems that the "Rickrolling" joke has passed RMweb readers by Andi
  6. I think we may have to bring the "home stereo" (1k PA system) next time Ravens goes out, a little bit of this to get everyone in that 80s mood http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x55ohpk Andi
  7. Glad to know you were able to sort it easily Andi
  8. Maybe not, but you can under 6.25kV AC, and that was apparently with 1500V DC insulators Andi
  9. I guess you had one loco on the track back-to-front so what should have been the return wheels on the electric were on the live track rails? Andi
  10. Did it have a bloke playing the piano as accompaniment? Andi
  11. Why do so many people have to do the huge song and dance about how good DCC is on the thread of a bloke who has said many many times that he doesn't want it? Clive's seen DCC, he's used DCC, he's happy with DC. Leave the poor old luddite alone! Andi
  12. While you've got the power bogie out of the chassis stick a 9volt battery across the brushes and see if you can see which wheel is not true. Andi
  13. Don't tell me, the poor woman has been sat in that ditch for a fortnight... Andi
  14. Oi! That's MY tinfoil hat I'll have you know... Andi
  15. One show we did with Dagworth was opposite a layout with taped bird sounds. On the second day we brought a photo of our cat and fixed it to the front of the layout to try to scare the birds off. Wait until we get Ravensclyffe out on the circuit with the level crossing bells. There is a volume control on the bells that could well be a useful negotiating tool for DCC sound layouts that won't turn their levels down! Andi
  16. I don't think it was anything of mine, I use either a Duette or an old Lima trainset controller when I want to run something in. Andi
  17. Learned from experience (How's that Hymek by the way...?) Andi
  18. With diodes? That way you could have a push-button to allow trains in (that you couldn't forget to switch off) but trains can always depart. There has to be some benefit to the DC lark Andi
  19. That's as maybe, but try buying it online where you can't look at it first! Andi
  20. As long as they are DCC without sound I'm up for that Andi
  21. And our politicians have no experience of anything other than being politicians... Grrrrrrr Whereas industry managers nowadays know absolutely sod all about the business they are managing, just how to pass an exam at university. Andi
