  1. doubly off topic, that link points to a file on your own hard drive! Andi
  2. If it was my layout I'd have had him dragging a piano through the streets Andi
  3. Interesting, I was taught at school to use a piece of brass to clean a file. I'd be very curious to know which works better. Andi
  4. Shouldn't he have a staff (with a knob on the end)? Andi
  5. I have a record by the Bubblemen (a Love And Rockets spin-off). Side two is called the B-side and is a recording of a hive of bees buzzing away https://www.discogs.com/The-Bubblemen-The-Bubblemen-Rap/release/1091524 Andi
  6. Such a rule would be impossible to enforce and keep trains running. Andi
  7. I guess No Decorum's internet connection Fell over preventing him finishing his post? Andi
  8. That’s because I’m only two cars into building my DC kits one. When I get the three car bodies onto chassis then expect an announcement! Andi
  9. I’m getting ready to start fitting the details to my sets and I hope someone can tell me roughly what proportion of the flats would have had the splash plates still in place in 1983. The Bachmann paperwork supplied with the wagons claims they kept the splash plates at the outer ends to stop locos getting dirty but photos online clearly show end vehicles without splash plates. I’m also wondering how many wagons didn’t have the spigots 10’ from the ends, many only seem to have them at the ends and then 20’ from each end, and the central ones. Thanks in advance Andi
  10. Perfect, that was exactly the kind of thing I was looking for, quick and easy. Thank you Andi
  11. Has anyone worked out a way of stopping the (not) NEM pocket on the intermediate couplers moving sideways when part of a heavy train? Andi
  12. Just a case of having to buy them when they are released, nothing hangs around too long nowadays. If you don't get 'em at the time you have to wait until a second run or resort to second-hand sellers. Andi
  13. if you roll the bogie along the track when it is not attached to the coach does it stay on the rails? Andi
  14. I would imagine that Iceland knew exactly what they were doing, the publicity generated by the ban has probably resulted in the ad being seen by a far wider audience than if it had been allowed to run. Andi
  15. Can anyone confirm that these have started to appear in shops yet or are the photos review samples? Abdi
  16. The authorities may not care, the advertising agencies certainly do, they want to know exactly what you spend on what so they can target you. That's the entire point of all the supermarket loyalty cards. It's called "Big data" and it knows all about you. Your spending, your browsing, where you go and when and how, when you are awake (from the smart electricity meter)... Andi
  17. What are yoiu using the ferrules on, and what are the wires going into? I use them a lot at work in Ceeform mains connectors but we've never bothered crimping them, just put the ferrule on the end of the wire before putting it into the screw terminal. Andi
  18. Thank you for your kind comments. I've said a few times here and elsewhere that I've found guitar string to be ideal for OLE, it solders easily, it's designed to be kept under tension, and while under tension it's expected to withstand being belted! Many times when exhibiting Dagworth I've demonstrated that it can be given considerable abuse without damage. Clive Mortimore did a huge amount of drawings, some of which can be found on RMweb, I was also given a copy of the OLEMI, the Overhead Line Equiment Master Index, which is the construction drawings library of BR (and subsequent organisations) Overhead Line Equipment. Andi
  19. I’ve made mine from guitar string, a heavier gauge than I use for the wires themselves. There are some photos and notes in my Ravensclyffe thread here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/3288-ravensclyffe/&do=findComment&comment=23801 Andi
  20. How many 303 kits did you dig out Charlie? Hope it was more than your orders, 'cos I've just ordered one for Ravensclyffe! Andi
  21. I love the concept of this, my one regret in the series is that the Undertaking that the Dwarfs seemed to be in the process of building under AM never saw the light of day. I love Raising Steam (See my signature on every post here since it was released) but I really wanted to see AM get its own underground railway, so much seemed to be pointing to it, with the Devices as the power source etc. Have you thought of including a clacks tower against the backscene? Andi
  22. Any update on the arrival of the Freightliner flats yet? Andi
