  1. All signals on Retford are operated by miniature servos. T-B-G could probably give more details.
  2. And they both met this afternoon....predictably, the DJH Klondike winning hands down in the haulage stakes!
  3. T-B-G quote from above....."One RMWebber was a bit miffed that I got mine before he got his but I can live with that!" No, not miffed, just surprised! Got it converted to EM yet then?!!
  4. Just got mine from 53A here in Hull......and its certainly a cutie! Nice smooth running.....has brass bearings....but 2 mm, yes that is TWO mm, diameter driving wheel axles, which annoys nobody but those who may wish to EM or P4 convert !!
  5. Oh dear.....why have I got a headache developing? Does Ken read this? Another layout........????????!!!!!!! Does this mean a shed extension?
  6. I just thinned the brake mechanism to around half its original thickness. Agreed about the coupling block removal....and my brake levers fell off whilst removing that block!

Fun is one way of looking at it!

Its certainly in pieces......and the tenders done. And Coachman, the pony truck is a single pivot in the centre of the chassis....not like the 8F or L1 arrangement.

Well after the above few post I hesitate to say that I got one (R3243) this morning from my local shop.....and its a cracker. Fit and general finish look to be back to Hornby's pre design clever mode, all wire handrails etc. Good news too, axles are running in brass bearings!

Better still, why not NELPG so any profit generated went towards keeping 62005 on the mainline?

If they are leaving the warehouse this week, we'll soon know when they hit the shops.
  12. Fit and finish are back to standards we were used to, engine and tender have plug and socket electrical connection. Second tender body is good with wire handrails, but the chassis is the old tender drive unit (minus motor naturally!) As G-BOAF notes above, the front number plate and lamp irons are in the correct place, but its not made by REF, the little label says SK!
  13. Just added another - Double Tender Bittern arrived today!
  14. R3103, Double Tender Bittern arrived today, SK101
  15. Re train as an Ofsted inspector, then she'll have to jump to your tune!!

Also, any tips on removing the Hornby handrails without damaging the paintwork?

Just been to my local shop here in Hull and Railroad basic version is there on the shelf....
  18. Indeed it is, Ian Harper of Scarborough based Shadows Music. Well worth watching and listening to if you get the chance.
  19. Morning Tony, Just like to add my thanks to Mo and yourself for the great day yesterday. Great fun and banter as always. And yes, LB performed excellently as always. As t-b-g said, playing trains with a great bunch of like minded mates is always a pleasure. Pete
  20. Been out for a few years now......both 2-8-0 and 2-10-0 kits were taken into Roxey Mouldings 7mm range some time ago.....both listed as currently available. I've always wanted one of these, but have resisted for years. Think I'm weakening though.....
  21. Thanks, appreciate you cannot take it apart!
  22. Thanks for that and the pics too. Any idea what the actual axle diameter itself is as opposed to the wheels over the tread?
  23. Hi Tony, would it be possible to tell us what the driving wheel axle diameter is by any chance?
  24. The next problem will be a familiar one.......where to build it!!
