  1. A couple of weeks ago I promised @Pacific231G that I would add some more information in this thread about model rack track and locomotives. Here we go… I’ll start with H0m and some pictures of the Bemo Abt rack: The normal rack section: The transition between plain track and rack: The transition section itself: And a close-up of the transition end: Bemo supplied these in packs, 4245 017 (rack track with code 70 rail and some rail joiners) 4245 027 (two transitions, some plain track and some rack track with code 70 rails and rail joiners) [To be continued]
  2. Do Sommerfeldt do anything useful for you? Alternatively, contact Fleischmann themselves? (Links are to non-UK sources, since I see you location is given as France).
  3. Hi, I've recently restored the pictures in my layout thread, and waterslide transfer printing of carriage liveries starts here.
  4. Thanks Andy. I've re-loaded them now. Dave
  5. When I've finished uploading my pictures to the rack threads, I'll dig out some kit and take some more pictures to answer these points - I'll do that in the Swiss Mountain Railways thread to avoid c(l)ogging up the Peco TT thread. It will be a few days before I can get all the stuff out though. I've just checked my Bemo rack on 12mm (H0m) - it is Abt too, although they cheat on the locos. More on the other thread (eventually). Dave
  6. The Abt rack track manufactured for Ferro : is manufactured in Japan by Joe Works, and is marked underneath with 'Ferro Suisse': This Abt rack is 9mm gauge. For 10.5mm gauge, there is the Straub rack manufactured by Gerard of Austria. Here it is alongside the Ferro rack: I have contributed quite a lot in the past on the subject of model rack railways, so in order to permit this thread's discussion to return to the Peco TT version of 12mm track, I would offer the following threads as 'rack reading'. Swiss Mountain Railways Metre-Gauge Rack Points Unfortunately the pictures are missing, and the threads have been marked as 'Archived', meaning that I can't edit my posts to restore the pictures. @AY Mod, is it possible to re-permit editing on these threads? Dave
  7. I've had a go at using inkjet printed vinyl overlays too, on my project to create some of the Berner Oberland Bahn coaches in the yellow-blue livery. I found difficulty in getting a good finish at the curved ends of the carriages compared to the waterslide method, due to the thickness of the vinyl sheet compared to the waterslide sheet. The carriages are now completed in the waterslide wrapping.
  8. I don't see any mention in the article of Frank Pickle, late of the Dibley Parish Council. I am informed by someone who knows such things that one episode of the programme had the character being billed in a newspaper as possibly the most boring man in Britain. Yes, that was fiction - how does that differ from several current newspaper stories?
  9. Perhaps a single lap is trade only, while 3 laps includes the VAT? 🏃‍♂️
  10. I seemed unable to 'Like' that post; neither desktop (Win 11 + Firefox) nor phone (Android 1 1 + Firefox). However, managed to 'Like' using alternative browser on desktop (Win 11 + Brave). I note that Brave isn't in your list of trialled Browsers! Hope this helps!
  11. If you become desperate to use code 70, then there is the option of buying Peco code 70 rail (individulay series, part number IL-70 shown as £10.50 RRP (6 x 914mm rails) on the Peco site). It was in stock at Gaugemaster earlier this year when I bought some. You would then need some copper-clad sleepers; I've bought them in the past from the 3mm Society. The above does make using the Peco code 75 H0m track much easier! It is part number SL-1400, and RRP on the Peco site is £5.86 per 914mm piece. I can't help with where it is currently in stock though, it is a couple of years since I bought some.

Perhaps they can refresh this one? The Abandoned 1950s Grand Prix Track That's Still There.
  13. Why would we need kilofeet when we have furlongs, and chains? 🥴 1000 feet = 1 furlong, 5 chains, 3 yards and 1 foot (probably). What's not to like? 😆
  14. Further to the theme of Thunderbird-esque buses, here's a link to Tim Traveller's video about the Cityrama Currus Citroen 55.
  15. I just googled that coach to see when it was made. Perhaps its bodywork was inspired by Thunderbirds?
  16. The great thing for me about Belle Etoile was the husband-creches* located throughout the centre. After doing the weekly shopping I would find various work colleagues on a Saturday afternoon in the one located between Cactus DIY and the model railway shop. *little bars
  17. No trouble in access to UK Prototype discussions on this laptop Win 8.1, Norton 360, Firefox 99.0.1; also OK in Opera 85.0.4341.60.
  18. How long will it take? Well here's an estimate, but not based on enough data to be all that accurate at this stage. Here is the update-state of my images as of Monday: and here is the status this evening: So, in two days there has been a change in one month's worth of picture updates - this is for the months in which I uploaded pictures. The blank months are those in which I made no pictorial postings. Therefore if one of my months has re-pictured over two days, and I have 32 months of pictures remaining, then the initial estimate is 64 more days - say two months. I'll track progress every now and then and report further (if you like), but you can do this for yourselves of course. Hence the rough estimate at the moment is to complete around the beginning of July! (There's an engineering estimate for you).
  19. Where the lettering has been cleaned on WR10225 it looks like waterslide transfer carrier film!
  20. You've certainly caught the look of the place! /Tongue in cheek ON/ perhaps add a thin layer of river-modellers'-varnish to the roads and pavements to give that just-rained-on look /Tongue in cheek OFF/ Is that a new bus model? I see that route 2 is now Bonnevoie - Limpertsberg, but it used to be from Gasperich (opposite my flat!) via La Gare (convenient for when my car was broken) to Strassen (convenient for La Belle Etoile, the only shops back then open on a Saturday afternoon). Dave
  21. If you wish to move away from the Firefox browser to a Chrome-based browser, an alternative may be to use Opera, Brave or Vivaldi since they all use a form of Chrome as the underlying browser engine, but without the google shadow cast over your usage. Those three each have their own implemetations of browser security.
  22. Hi Michael, I think that the parts you need are in the 380 series - that is the RhB H0m range of catenary. Since you are in the US, I had a look at Eurorailhobbies.com. Their site has pictures of the Sommerfeldt products, with the descriptions in English (so you don't need to worry whether or not 'Ausleger' means what you hope it does!). Have a look at part numbers 383, 384, 385, 386 - they seem to be RhB arms and offsets (I only really know about the FO bits, in the 280 range). Hope this helps. Dave
  23. Ah, I'm glad you've got it working - I didn't know if you would have been able to see the replies. The site was on its last gasp before falling over (March 20th), which is why I had to take two bites to get the whole message posted.
  24. Andy and team, well done in restoring what you have! I've just been in to 'My Profile' to restore my Avatar (also from my own back-up, it's not on my new PC) and I see that my Bookmarks are still available too - that's great news (for me). 😀
