  1. It's a play on the speech impediment of the fellow sat at the front of the picture, whose 'R' always comes out as a 'W'. To rub it in, his name is Jonathan Ross - though you wouldn't hear that from him! By the way I understand your some times wonder at the context of some of the contributions.I understand because I try to learn about US sports by reading 'Tank McNamara'. 🤪
  2. Some Welsh fella has renamed it 'Voodoo Jazz Hat'....doesn't look like a Welsh beach to me!
  3. Perhaps some Sommerfeldt pantographs?
  4. Hi CHB, Many thanks for your reply - that link has the information for me right there! It has the voltage rating with picture of the signals. I must admit to some envy of the OP in the link obtaining his signals all for 2 euros in 2020. I paid £10 for a pack of five Fulgurex 4086 several years ago, for the same reason as the OP did - at the price it was worth buying for the future. Since then I've picked up more, some branded Lemaco but with the same part number. It looks like the replies in the link were posted by by a fellow who's on RMWeb too - @sncf231e - is that you? Thanks again, Dave
  5. I have ready for deployment some N scale signals, Lemaco/Fulgurex type 4084 (2-aspect red/green) and 4086 (4-aspect distant, greens/ambers). I have done fruitless google searches for instructions or information on these, and searching within RM Web' Swiss section for "signals" brings me information on the modern products from Schneider and Mafen. The Lemaco/Fulgurex products are older technology, and appear to have filament lamps, so the questions I have are: Has anyone knowledge of the nominal operating voltage of these? Whilst 12v/14v would be typical I feel it is wise to ask if anyone knows for sure! Ha anyone the further knowledge of the current drawn by these lamps? That information will allow me to have a sufficient power supply to drive the signals. Many thanks! Dave
  6. Certainly! Start a thread with a suitable title, then we can follow it. Have a look at @jamie92208's thread 'Moves at Limoges' in the French section if you want inspiration!
  7. Sound files for 203, 204, 205 and 207 seem to be available on the Fulgurex website - click on the 'digital' tab near the bottom. There is also a link to the ESU site, so they may well be ESU files. (I was looking for something completely different) 🤪
  8. Thanks, I didn't know that. (It's been so long since I could book a doctor's appointment sooner than I recovered from the ailment)
  9. No idea, I still check it daily just in case it is operational again. The webcam looking at Spiez harbour also seems to have stopped.
  10. If you get no luck on here, try Ron Lines in Southampton, 02380 772681. He's listed these on Ebay. He may have more.... Dave
  11. Try this: Click on the square logo thing in the taskbar. If it is visible, click on the 'Settings' cog. If not, where it says 'search for apps, settings and documents' type 'Settings' and one of the first suggestions it gives is Settings app. Click on that. Now the settings dialogue window thingy should open. On the left side column click 'System' (it may have opened on that already). When it is in 'System', in the right-hand column click 'Notifications'. There is all sorts of stuff you can play with in there to reduce the number of messages popping up in the bottom right of your screen but in the first instance I suggest that you utilise the second item in the new right-hand column, called 'Do not disturb'. Set the slider to 'On', and cross your fingers. Close the Settings window and cross your remaining fingers. Hope this helps! Dave
  12. Many years ago I was discussing this with a guitarist in a band we were watching, who told me that Mark Knopfler is naturally left handed but plays right handed, and thus can create the incredible string bends achieved in his playing. This may be apocryphal of course; however the guitarist told me that his band used the same agents as Dire Straits, so that did lend his tale a bit of credibility. It's up to you what you believe of course! 🙂
  13. You have a choice - you can play a right-handed guitar 'upside-down' i.e. with lower E string at the bottom and high E at the top, or have a left-handed guitar where the low E is at the top like on a right-hander. If you start with a budget guitar where the bridge runs straight across the sound box you can easily re-string it left handed. However most guitars have the bridge at a very slight angle, and sometimes a slight offset for the B string. If one of these is restrung left handed then there will be a slight discrepancy in the low E string to A string registration. So for a better guitar, get one made for left-handers, or choose an upside-down right hander (think Jimi Hendrix here!). I currently have (and don't play any more) a proper left-handed electric, proper left-hander 12-string acoustic and a restrung ex-right-handed 6-string acoustic (cheapo version with straight-across bridge). My old 6-string (was a proper right-hander with angled bridge and thus poor E-A registration) has now been re-right-handed for DIW jr, whose ability shows me up most tragically! Hope this helps.
  14. Hmm, that could also describe a certain popular Canadian manufacturer of highly detailed railway models, which has branched out into the sphere of the Omnibuses of Birmingham.
  15. I see a contradiction in the highlighted excerpts of your post - just sayin'.
  16. Yes it was a great car for towing things, kept right on going. Only trouble was that the performance didn't improve much (if at all) when the burden was unhitched. 🙄 I had wondered about the merits of the gearbox being in the sump - it did make oil changes even more important. I did have one where the gearbox needed attention - I renewed the synchromech cones and a couple of shims, plus found that an idler shaft nut which was supposed to be done up to 150 ft-lb could be undone with the fingers - probably the cause of the wear to the shims. For course in those days the local dealer's head office parts department had all the bits in stock (not the local branches though; the gearbox was not that common a problem that the local branches kept parts in stock for it).
  17. Try bustimes.org. It looks like the no.5 is due to run every 20 minutes that day?
  18. If I sold all my Kleinbahn and Klein Modelbahn versions of this in their various liveries, I would still not have enough to buy a HRF one! Another I would have liked to have seen is the BLS De4/5; there was only the Fulgurex(?) one produced. I fear though that withe the originals gone the audience for the De4/5 model is beyond its peak. Certainly the emphasis these days seems to be to produce models of the current stock in all its livery changes, for the collectors.
  19. The South Koreans appear to be unhappy with Tesla's claims for range, and have set a fine of around £1.8M.
  20. Jack's Patch current pricing....
  21. Quantum was Firefox version 57, from November 2017 (apparently). My current version is 108.0.1 (it updated from 108.0.0 when I checked the version for this little missive).
  22. Perhaps a few words from @SouthernRegionSteam will help, if he is available? He exhibited his Calshot layout around the shows a few years ago.
  23. 'Private Eye' have got the inside track on Southgate's current mission
  24. A bit more rummaging, and I've found this 1982 image of Marktgasse in Interlaken with the Ost-West railway line in the distance. I've cropped the picture and zoomed in so that the carriage can be seen more clearly:
