  1. For those of less-long memories, Imola was the venue for the San Marino Grands Prix. At the 1994 meeting, Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna were both killed there. It may, probably, have been obscure to the non-F1 aware folk before then, but ever since it has been raised in general awareness on news bulletins since the prosecution case against the Williams team over Senna's death dragged on for 11 years.
  2. Just wait until the next forum software change, and it will all disappear anyway. How do I know.....?
  3. The last time I looked at the Terms and Conditions under which Olivia's Trains sell by post, it seemed to me that they put the onus on the seller to take the blame for any postal problems. (Yes, I realise that in law the seller is responsible for the safe delivery of goods). I took the view that if a trader sets out to be controvertial, I'll keep looking elsewhere. Eventually I found what I wanted in mint condition at half Olivia's price, with (I can't believe this) that mainstay of the Ebay thread, Gostude! Hopefully you get a good outcome in your situation.
  4. Ah - I see that our tradition of Christmas Pantomimes has still not reached across the Atlantic (lucky you)! That's probably because we have Pantomimes in theatres in many towns and cities, and also at many end-of-the-pier venues. I can only think of one Pantomime venue in the US.......
  5. I would have thought that seeing what some of them watch would make your hair curl! Oh.....
  6. Hi TechnicArrow, This 'feature' seems to have appeared along with @AY Mod's tests to include the little video on the page - it seems to push the posts downwards, giving the 'jump' to which you refer. Have a look at the Advertising thread - there's all sorts of discussions and explanations there.
  7. I also see this on Firefox on a PC, but not on Opera or Brave on the same PC. Hope that helps?
  8. Perhaps the report contained the sort of typos to which your missive has succumbed. The alternative spellings of 'want' which have crept in (which appear to be versions of "won't", the contraction of 'will not') tend to portray the opposite meanings of what I think you meant to write. Perhaps the report to which you refer has a similar re-interpretability? I'm not particularly picking you up on speeling eroors per se - I know what you intended with the rest of the missive.
  9. SWR offer this deal too. The price on SWR of the 8-days-in-28 ticket is roughly that of six regular day returns (standard class, Wessex main line to Waterloo). There doesn't seem to be an equivalent deal for the station car parks though, that I could find.
  10. I had a recent missive from Discount MG Rover Spares (dmgrs<dot>co<dot>uk) regarding E10 in Rover and MG petrol engines from 1996. I had already come to the same conclusions based on the same engines used in Land Rovers of similar age, but it was nice to have it confirmed. (No connection except as a customer): We've all seen the uproar the move to E10 petrol seems to have caused - so we thought we'd clear things up a little. It's worthy of note that while we've done a lot of research on the topic, the information below is put together purely as a 'helping hand' and your own judgment should be used. It's no secret that MG Rover were a pioneering company and liked to 'push the envelope' when it came to technological advances - and the good news is that this approach was taken when it came to Ethanol-containing fuels too. Europe moved to E10 petrol many years ago, and with their finger on the pulse as usual MG Rover (along with Land Rover) made sure that all vehicles from 1996 onwards were compatible with E10. Land Rover have formally confirmed this on the Government website - however with MG Rover long gone there's no official way for the Government to confirm this and publish the information online. The good news is that Land Rover used the K Series and KV6 engine from 1996 in the Freelander - along with a very similar fuel system and many shared components. This, along with one of the ex-chief engineers for MG Rover confirming the compatibility of the new fuel when the UK launch was confirmed, means that any MG Rover from 1996 onwards will be absolutely fine to run on E10. Any MG Rover made before 1996 is a trickier topic - while there weren't many changes made to the fuel system before and after this date, it's possible that the seals used aren't designed to be Ethanol-resistant. We would recommend sticking with either E5 (Super unleaded will continue to be E5) or using a fuel-stabilising additive designed to help older cars run on E10 when filling. Again, the information above is put together from the data available to us - but we are confident any MG Rover from 1996 onwards will be fine using E10. I hope the above is helpful to someone. I looked on their website to see if the message is posted there but I didn't find it amongst the guides.
  11. Perhaps if we in Britain called them 'Cloud Roofs', the Ionic 5 manufacturers would reconsider the decision regarding the insertion of glass into the car roof?
  12. DIW

    EBay madness

That depends - the bet could depend on the number of entries generated in RMWeb's 'Ebay Madness' thread.....
  13. Yes, I see what you guys mean - the loading rating in the cars' handbooks will be for use in dynamic motion, as opposed to static load when stationary.
  14. For a Volvo V70 the loading is 100kg on the longitudinal roof bars, and the load is directly transmitted into the A, C and D pillars of the vehicle. Assume around10kg for a pair of decent strength roof bars - standard universal roof bars are only good for up to 40 kg according to this site The tent itself weighs 65kg according to the OP's link. That leaves 25kg safe maximum weight for the two people! I would consider that other cars would have a rooftop loading capability of less than 100kg, due to not being originally designed as load carriers. The OP's link shows several 4x4 vehicles which look initially up to the job of supporting the roof loading, however I would wonder whether the saloon car shown is up to regularly supporting the load directly on the roof, above the windows of the doors.
  15. What......the Richard Branson lookalike club?
  16. Some people seem to have all the good luck, and of course some get all the bad. If poor GR persists in attracting the gremlins, it may yet influence when/if he gets a proper contract to drive the Merc. Of course if he doesn't get the Merc seat next season, that would also seem to be more bad luck.
  17. Is Rita Ora still over there with you all? If so; Perhaps it can be arranged for them to share transportation? Neither should complain about adjoining seats.....
  18. You'll probably get a reply like this one: Hope this helps! Dave
  19. Exactly that. So many of the railway arches in London have been handed over that it is rather difficult to find any still in NR's possession, in which to propose installation of equipment for NR's benefit.
  20. The Covid Passport Scam Email is still around - I've posted a screenshot in the Scams thread here. Dave
  21. I've just received this one (and forwarded it to report@phishing.gov.uk). Here is a screen shot: When hovering on the button 'Get Digital Passport' , the link 'https<colon slash slash>nhspassports<dot>co<dot>uk<slash>digital' is displayed. When sandboxing the site name, DNS errors are returned. Hope this helps! Dave
  22. Me too, with the proviso that I sign up to the new payment system first (no surprise there of course, that 's the new Ts & Cs).
  23. Here you go - save you the hassle, the bunfight and the cheek-by-jowl experience of the modern funicular...... (I wonder if that will be a thing of the past now that people need to keep a certain distance apart?)
  24. If a Triumph car, then surely a Herald?
  25. Exactly! The A30 crosses the Tamar near Polson Bridge, (1.5 miles east of Launceston) and is indeed a dual carriageway. (I assume that the nearby A338 which crosses Polson Bridge is the original A30?)
