I remember those articles in RM and still have my sand tippler, vacuum brake and 'top flap removed' versions in a box somewhere. I must admit I also left the bar across the top of the side door, probably the article was a bit misleading and we didn't have Paul Bartlett's pictures.... Or the internet!

The next outings booked for the layout are the SWAG 2020 meet in April ...
Fantastic to hear, a great reason to fix that date in the calendar!

That's an interesting scheme with plenty of scope for urban grot and decay. I remember being able to catch a glimpse of a yellow BSC locomotive (possibly Yorkshire diesel?) down in the works as trains left Wolves towards New St. on the Stour Valley line. Hope to see this progress.

This looks like it will be an impressive setup Pete. Always admired your abilities in design sketching and mockups, you've managed to get a lot of scene in a small space. Hope to see this progess.

I'd missed the fact that you are posting in the blogs section now, I've enjoyed catching up on you last few entries. Lovely pictures, very atmospheric and really giving the impression of the Highlands.

Excellent job and the daylight really helps in showing all the nuances you've worked in. Good to see you back posting here too!
Have to ask, is that actually S4 track with the loco perched on - the wheel rims seem to be hanging on by their fingertips...?
-
That sheet's a great find, just the job for a model of a North Devon line bridge Can I ask what you used for the arch course?

Hi Andrew, I'd missed the previous announcements of 'Lizzy' being sold on, I'm glad I managed to see it (and yourself) at the RMWEB Taunton members day a couple of years ago. Good to see one last set of images with the modern stock.
Good luck to John & hope to see a few progress reports some time...?

A lot of nice images in there, I'm slowly going through them !
For ease of locating, the panorama is here

Hoping to be able to see for real at your first showing at Taunton

To my mind, your reworked Airfix looks more realistic than the Hornby I personally don't like the Hornby lights, they should be a lot fainter in my mind....

Only just found this working back from the 'finishing off' blog. I like the look of the finished article and the modifications definitely change the appearance to good effect. They would all apply to a Lima model too, which I have a couple of to 'get round to'!
I believe the small boxes on the wings on the cab front doors are covers for the windscreen washer sprayers, I would think small chunks of microstrip would give the impression?
-
Definitely makes a difference, from pictures I've seen the real ones seemed filthy a lot of the time!

Love the Despicable Me reference Maybe blue cylinders, a single goggle mask disguised as a headlamp and the 'G' logo on the cabside...?

Very nice for a 20 year old layout!
Hauled away by a kettle!
Perhaps waiting to be joined by his brother, Hal? ;-)
Don't let Hal get involved, he'll start bumping off the human crew...
"Open the pod bay doors, Hal"
"I'm sorry, Dave, I can't do that...."

All I can say is - 'phew'

Hi Pete - I knew a move was in the offing & the fact that we hadn't seen much from you recently made me think it must be occupying your time, but to see your hard work reduced so dramatically is rather sad.
I really hope you find your feet soon & we do get to see some more examples of your work - your sketches and thoughts on layout design & presentation have been inspirational, a quiet half hour with a sketch pad is still enjoyable in my mind even if there's little prospect of them reaching fruition (as I keep saying to myself.... )

That looks very effective
Got a bit worried when looking through the blogs listing as yours is cut off med-sentence, just after "time to add some greenery". I thought the assurances about pacemakers had been proven wrong!

I do hope you get done in time, Pete.

Looks good Andrew - I would think the re-vamp has made it seem like a whole new layout with new ways of working to increase interest for yourself & viewers
I like the look of the Ruston (?) works shunter & the 22 looks very much at home. I think the 108 must have worked down from my neck of the woods & didn't get the destination blind changed though!

Fantastic stuff, Pete - just pressing "like" does not convey anything near how impressive that is. Your hand/eye coordination must be in a different league!

Excellent stuff Pete, always nice to see an update. The colours look convincing even at this early stage...
...plenty of useful pictures here: http://www.cornwallr...h-and-east.html
Thanks Will...and what a great link too...25080 on clay hoods at the dries is just perfect...
...and a few good shots of Wenford dries too! More help for the 7mm project, eh Pete

Hi Pete, can't add much to this aprt from saying how good it's all starting to look. Even without any final colouring/weathering the works really do look the part now. I hope you'll be able to replicate that "looking towards the entrance across the level crossing" viewpoint that you see in several published pictures....

Looks like a Terrier in the middle!

Interesting idea. Presumably you still need some sort of "device" to guide the magnets together if they're not completely aligned. How does the uncoupling work - does the "device" come into play again, or is it a matter of holding one item & pulling the other away?
59. Wagon purists look away now! or, how to make a Bachmann BDA look like a XVA Trestle wagon.

Another thought is that the Bachmann MXA Lobster has the visible BDA chassis frame, which i believe is metal to give the required weight. I wonder if the body is removable which would leave a clear skeletal chassis frame?
