  1. I've followed your blogs over the years and this is up with the others! Nice little layout. Stu P.S. What happened to Ulthwaite - does it still exist?
  2. What is the source of the factory buildings - are they scratchbuilt? Stu
  3. Thanks, I will try them. Stu
  4. I am looking for any of the following N gauge chassis. They appear to be out of production at present and nobody is sure if they will be produced again or not. Can anybody help? They do come up on Ebay but the prices are getting higher and if production doesn't restart they might get expensive. Tomytec Hakosetu HM-01 World Craft Company TU-14CL World Craft Company EB4111 Can anybody help? Stu
  5. The EB4111 is almost impossible to find. If it is ever produced, I think it gets done small batches which sell out very quickly. Stu
  6. That is some of the best looking ballast I've seen for a while! The colours and texture are spot on. Stu
  7. This is a bit of a long shot really. I have on my desk a calendar featuring 50s/60s trucks for which the April page shows a red Austin FK truck crossing the old turreted bridge at Craigellachie, carrying draff. The owning company is "Alexander Gray", VRN is BAV125B. I was just wondering if this truck still exists, as one or two of the other subjects of the calendar do? I have not managed to find anything on the internet. Stu
  8. What’s yellow and giggles uncontrollably? – immature cheddar Stu
  9. Blunt instruments? I really don't see the point. Stu
  10. The bullhead code 75 looks very good. Stu
  11. The closure of Constantine Road depot and a move elsewhere in the town has been discussed many times over the years, but it still remains there. It probably will happen one day. Stu
  12. The ones I had couldn't really be described as rubber, but I had a cottage and a barn that looked exactly like the Triang ones. Must be my memory playing tricks. Stu
  13. I have found references to the Triang "rubber buildings". Were these originally actually made of rubber, as I'm sure I had a couple and they appeared to be made from a very flexible polythene-like plastic? Did they get re-released as plastic versions, was this actually "rubber", or is my mind playing tricks on me? I feel sure that the ones I had did not say Triang on them but something like "Blue Box". Stu
  14. I haven't had a layout in over 20 years. I do very little modeling at all, although remaining interested. I'd like to put some of the bits I've got together on a layout but it just never seems to happen. I was going to build micro layouts anyway, but I can't even build one of those! Stu
  15. Looking good Luke. It's nice when you can get round to detailing. A baby deer is a fawn by the way. Keep up the good work Stu
  16. Does anybody have a gradient profile for the Copy Pit line (Burnley to Todmorden)? Stu
  17. I think that the fact that some of the railway is hidden by buildings such as the warehouse makes it feel more like it's just a small part of the environment through which it runs Stu
  18. Not sure if one of these could be used as the basis for a broad beam boat - if you can find one: http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=N35730 Stu
  19. That background is excellent. Really makes the layout!. Stu
  20. Some of the very small N gauge chassis (also used for 009) have no space for a decoder in them. I was wondering if on a small and very simple layout where only 1 loco was ever in use at a time, would it be possible to wire a decoder into the main feed to the layout instead of having it in the loco? This would also mean that the locos used would not need a decoder each, as in effect whatever loco was on the track would have a decoder wired into it. Just wondering if this would work/has been done? I should add that I know very little about DCC but to me the above should be feasible. Stu
  21. Better than me - I never start! 1 layout in 25 years so far. I keep looking here and hopefully one day the inspiration will become reality! I have built stock but mostly sold it after completion due to a change in direction. Perhaps you need to build a very small static diorama, perhaps of just a siding, that you can display your latest wagons on, adding a few scenic bits. As it will be small then it will quickly become finished and also allow experimentation of techniques. Stu
  22. Luke - you have got the colours on this just about perfect! It has a feel of one of those Scottish lines that got truncated back to the distillery when the rest of the line closed (there were a few of them I think). If this was the intention then maybe add a few sleepers, bits of rail and chairs at the very end of the layout? When you decide on a name then don't forget to ensure that the distillery buildings have a distillery name plaque too - this would have been good advertising for them. Google a few images and you'll see what I mean. Stu
  23. Does anybody produce/has anybody produced a 4mm scale container with opening doors – ideally a 20ft one but I might be able to cut one down. I seem to recall that the old Triang Freightliner ones may have had this but they were longer than 20ft I believe. Stu
  24. I'll be watching this with interest as I am planning on having a brickworks layout myself some day (but on a much smaller scale than this). The weeds in the concrete are very effective! Stu
