The FS Fondazione website has a lot of station drawings uploaded. I've found one for the station I want to model in 2mm scale and printed out it on a sheet of A4 it scales out perfectly.
  2. At least on class 717s, which have ETCS fitted, if AWS/TPWS/Over speed is activated a "button" lights up on the DMI. After a minute another button appears, greyed out, with BR on it - brake release. Press it for a couple of seconds and it goes white, then press AWS/TPWS/OSS "button" and the brakes release. So much easier than trying to guess if a minute has passed!
  3. I assume you've seen this? https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/168ba8a5a209686db70d32106bb2d85d/stazione-arbia?hl=en
  4. It appears some states will be removing mask requirements in the next few weeks, but they'll still be required on long distance travel until at least 7th April. Not sure how they class long distance, some of the "local" RE services travel for a couple of hours. I definitely agree with the suggestions of giving the Harz a miss this time. Do it as a separate trip in the winter, even if it's just for a couple of days. I've had a few weekends out there over the years; fly out Friday night, back Sunday night, so you have nearly two full days there. Hannover airport is only 90 minutes away.

    EBay madness

Anyone want a fully illuminated Deltic in a box frame? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204208511308?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ygwSW9nsQTO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=dltlllrnrym&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  6. It actually arrived yesterday morning! Three deliveries in one day - parcels about 10am, letters (including Christmas cards posted 8th December) about 1pm, then another parcel delivery about 2pm. I'm just glad it's all finally arrived.
  7. Bad form to quote your own post, but anyway. The second parcel was delivered last Friday, so only took a week to be delivered. Not bad for a 20 mile journey. The first one still hasn't appeared! On 16th it arrived at Home Counties North MC in Hemel Hempstead and hasn't left. Order posted in Italy on 28th November, been in the UK since beginning of December, but I don't expect to see it this year. It's only a magazine so shouldn't be held up by customs, but also means it's not being rushed through. Oh well.
  8. That's the conclusion we came to with our club layout, before it needed to be redesigned. With the amount of track needed in the fiddle yard there wasn't a lot of difference in price between Peco and copper clad, but the former allowed the fiddle yard to be assembled a lot quicker and more accurately.
  9. I've got two eBay orders that have been dispatched. One was posted from Italy nearly three weeks ago and has been sitting at Langley HWDC for two weeks. The other simply says "accepted at post office", no other information for the last week. We've not seen any post for about a week either.

    EBay madness

  11. https://railsofsheffield.com/collections/advent-calendar Box of 25 yards of Peco code 100 for £89.95, today only.
  12. Good shout. http://73050.co.uk/page40.html Certainly looks like it might've moved by rail both ways then.
  13. The sugar factory was still rail connected at that point. However... https://preservedbritishsteamlocomotives.com/73050-2/ So that rules that one out then. 80002 moved by rail from Cowlairs to KWVR in 1969 and hasn't left, so that's one that's never been on a low loader. 75027 I believe was transferred by rail from Carnforth to Horsted Keynes in 1968, though I can't find anything online to say how or when.
  14. I was thinking maybe 6201 Princess Elizabeth, but it appears it moved around by road between 1993 and 2002 for overhaul. Some of the Didcot locos won't have been anywhere other than by rail, but other than that, not many. 73050 hasn't been anywhere else as far as I'm aware, not for want of trying though. The Nene Valley are usually so short of locos they've not been able to release it - it's certainly been requested.
  15. That's better! I was hoping it was just the colour balance that was off in the first photo, the beige looked far too dark.

    EBay madness

It's described in other countries (or at least Google translate interprets as such) as zinc pest.
  17. It did say they were investigating it and that one of the derailed wagons had false flanges worn into the wheelsets. Reports elsewhere that it ran from Culgaith with the brakes locked up on one wagon, so it'll be very interesting to see the final report. Not the first time that's happened.

    EBay madness

I think there's something has gone seriously wrong with their eBay pricing. I've no idea if it's computer generated or manually inputted but it's all over the place. Take for example a new Farish 08. In their shop in Leighton Buzzard, currently £126, roughly the same as elsewhere. https://agrmodelrailwaystore.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=11191&search=08&category_id=118 Same model on their eBay page, £193.54. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155211828495?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_NiQ-kddT22&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=dltlllrnrym&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY One is a 13% reduction in the RRP, as is to be expected, while the other is a 33.5% premium.
  19. To give you an idea of how shambolic it was under the previous owners, the loco didn't even have a headlight for mainline running after its overhaul at Southall in 1999. They managed to lash up a temporary one using a diesel headlight for the test run in June 1999. https://flic.kr/p/dS2p7w Before its inaugural run to York, they managed to get one from the A4 Loco Society. I had to bring it down from Grosmont to Bounds Green and hand it over on the morning of the tour. They couldn't even get the basic stuff right, no wonder it failed so often. The central heating pipework used for the air brakes didn't help matters either.
  20. That's a permanent layout in the new lounge, where the ticket office used to be next to Gresley's statue. The TT one is a Hornby promotional one.
  21. Not sure if it's been mentioned anywhere (it probably has but there's only so many threads and pages you can read!) but Hornby have a TT layout on display at King's Cross station this weekend with an A3 and A4 running round. They looked ok from a quick glance this morning after a night shift. The dark green liveries actually looked good for Hornby!
  22. From a purely selfish point of view, flat-bottomed wooden sleepered 1-in-9 double slip in N gauge. Too much to ask?!

    Big Bertha

Looking at those two photos, both sides of the loco look identical except for the injector pipe on the right hand side of the boiler and the turbo generator under the left hand side of the cab. Will KR manage to get that right, or can we expect one side of the loco to look more like a 2P?
  24. I'm lucky, I don't have to go too far for a Swedish fix. Y7 1212 at the Nene Valley Railway a couple of years ago. They've also bought a trailer as well, so it now runs as a two car unit a lot of the time. Once 73050 City of Peterborough is overhauled, the intention is overhaul the Swedish B class 4-6-0 no. 101. It'll probably be 10 years before it steams, but at least they've got a plan.
