  1. Well pleased to say my two sets of JSA's arrived in tip top condition....
  2. I had a few wheels from Howes that I used up initially and then had a busy day yesterday with the Hornby one’s. And yes running performance is enhanced. I was surprised how quick it was. I have got spare axles having replaced the earlier ones so it allows me to get ahead. Took the opportunity to grease, oil and clean everything as well. Drivers fitted and front detailing done last night.
  3. Yes, that was my next route.... I thought the sets of wheels were for one loco, didn’t realise you needed two sets per loco. I’m sure they were in sets of four from Howes. But pleased to say had a successful day re-wheeling with Hornby wheels. Did five locos today with three packs of R8218’s.
  4. Have to agree the presentation of the product is excellent.... The detailing sheet in the JSA's is mind blowing !!!
  5. Mine have just arrived, they look fabulous, they'll be on my Round Oak to Margam steel train later. I have noticed the tray has broken in one set and there are a few bits in the bottom box which I need to have a look at. The other set where the tray hasn't broken is fine and with no parts detached.
  6. Geoff, Thanks for your help, first loco done, now to bulk order the replacement wheels. £10 per loco using Hornby versus £40 for the Heljan Martin
  7. I tried to explore this avenue before, but could only find 12.5mm diameter wheels. Just done a search to find these, presume this is what you have used:- Hornby R8218 Disk Coach Wheels 14.1mm ?
  8. I have just bought a few sets for my 47's from Gaugemaster, the wheels available are for Class 26, 27 & 33 but are exactly the same wheels as the Class 47. Obviously you only get the geared drive wheels and they only come in packs of two not four, but I'm happy with that as that's what picks up the current. Behind the bogies the middle set of wheels although different are not really noticeable. They have doubled in price since the last time I bought them from Howes, but the loco's run superbly with the metal wheels and I'm more than happy. Part Number is: HN19853583
  9. Had a similar issue with a Class 47. The back to back was slightly out, corrected to 14.4mm resolved the issue.
  10. I wrote recently regarding spares for the Class 86’s. email to this address, they responded within 48 hrs:- Heljan@Heljan.dk
  11. I wonder who they have to approach to reproduce the older non existent liveries if the companies are no longer around and whether the colour schemes are actually still available to work to.
  12. Just seen this on the Rails site.... ACC260xDRS1 HYA Bogie Hopper Wagon Direct Rail Services DRS Twin Pack (OO Gauge) by Accurascale - Rails Limited Apologies if its already been posted elsewhere, did do a quick search.
  13. I've been humming and harring about buying one in the Belmond Livery, looking at the pictures on the Hatton's site the gold printing looks very faint, I guess it could just be the photo's on the web site. Anybody got one and photo's to help my decision ?
  14. A second batch would be really good for Hatton's, I would have thought it would help pay for the tooling and investment in the project. Although saying that the first batch was quite large to start with. I guess there needs to be a lessons learnt review, visit all the issues, resolve the problems implement change and then run a second batch. There are still lots to go at, latest DB red, DB Maritime livery and lots of celebrities.... Lets hope so...
  15. If the pick ups are working correctly it's not an issue and this will only improve the running. The problem is the original pick ups are poor in design and don't work that well, so a Stay Alive won't make a great deal of difference IMHO..
  16. As well as the heat reduction which is good news, have you seen an improvement in the running performance. Thanks
  17. Thanks for that, lets hope so. I'm also aware Heljan are running a spares run for previous locos between now and mid March, hopefully if I cant get any now, I will be able to get some in a few weeks time if the new one's are not compatible..
  18. I'm after a pair of round buffers and a buffer beam for a Heljan Class 86. Thanks...
  19. Reiterate what every one else has said, looks stunning, cant wait. My TPE 68 is waiting in the platform.... Are the magnet couplers a good solution ???
  20. I’ve recently purchased this train pack and had difficulty removing the screws from the body. Having finally succeeded I noticed that the two screws on the LH side on both power cars had jammed solid, looking from underneath. This was due to the holes through the chassis not being drilled completely through. I managed to force the screws out and have drilled through to allow the screws to seat properly. Just a warming really, be interested to see whether it’s was only both of mine that were in error.
  21. ‘Singer Sewing Machine Oil’ and a multipurpose grease called ‘Super Lube’ that I got from work many years ago.
  22. Thankfully it’s not that bad, I’ve been lubricating everything that moves and it seems to be improving. Interestingly Bachmann have a said to return them both for investigation. Nothing in terms of gearing, motor or drive train is different. But they definitely don’t sound like all the other Bachmann 66’s I have and it’s interesting they both sound the same.
  23. Excellent selection of Class 60's to chose from.....
