  1. A revamped class 06 shunter done to 08 standards would fill a gap....
  2. ...and you have to wait 10 years anyway.
  3. I never play any of them anyway, they go straight to the recycling bin. Mags with attachments not too popular with retailers either apparently.
  4. Should D5380 be green with small and not full yellow panels? Only seen images with this scheme
  5. That Peak in the background hauling a tanker (TTA??) plus mark1 coach.....really????
  6. put it in place by the shunters/drivers crew room. That's about it for now, other than to say thanks to Mark for his MEA input.. Although I'm still unsure whether to do coal or scrap.. until I make that decision they'll remain running as empties! My money is on scrap...more of a future? Can also use EWS MBA's too if you choose...
  7. Here is the said train with 9793. Nice looking coach...a kit or converted RTR? Paul
  8. On page 50 of this issue, there is an account of Holbeck which does not seem quite complete or end properly, or am I having a senior moment? Is there a missing paragraph ?
  9. I am personally delighted with this choice, as it was a stalwart of the Forest of Dean, and also has (Far North) Scottish possibilities too. Planning stage means this time next year, possibly eh Chris? Paul
  10. A rerun of class 27 diesels in 4mm has been mentioned elsewhere on this site, does anyone have any details?
  11. This is the only non -steam loco to carry Rail Blue without ANY yellow warning panel...well the first ones anyway. There were steam locos in Rail blue without them, on the Vale of Rheidol line of course....still they might look cute with yellow or stripes?
  12. Talking of Southern colours, does the latest (R4817) Maunsell Kitchen /diner car match with to their latest Sothern region mark 1's in green? The diner looks lighter ... but I am slightly colour blind with greens and blues.
  13. In the book it points out that the exhaust outlets on the class 42 Swindon locos were in the middle of the roof section, saying that this 'explains' why they were not allowed under lines with catenary, such as the WCML. Is this true? there are several images of these locos at Crewe and even on China Clay trains through the Midlands. There are even incidences of them getting into the Merseyside area. Not meant as a criticism of this bookazine, which I enjoyed incidentally, just wondering if this was an official policy that was not always strictly adhered to...
  14. Well done to the club for putting on a good show despite their catering being disrupted. Good(ish) trade support and an excellent selection of layouts; their exhibitors and club support staff were very friendly and helpful too.
  15. You mean like 'Waiting for Godot'? saw the follow up too ...'Godot arrives and blames Network Rail'...
  16. In Gerge C O'hara's 'BR diesel traction in Scotland', the images of 24/1's in green did not have headlights fitted up to mid 65 at least. One of D5130 taken in '68 still did didnt.
  17. Glad you are using 'full' catenary, as why spoil the ship for a hap'orth of tar. Watched this thread with interest and its clear that modellers dont need a lot of space to build a convincing railway and also learn a lot on the way. Presume the station siding is an inspection point for EMUs. What about a small extension module for say local scrap traffic with EAOS wagons; one or two tracks (tuning fork') might work OK. Is this a traffic carried by RENFE? cheers Paul
  18. I shudder to think what you could have done with more funds and fewer odds and ends. Following this thread has been very interesting, but Pete - are you going to put up some portacabin offices and maybe a grab crane for the scrap traffic siding? What was the boundary fencing from? regards Paul
  19. WH Smiths in Sale shopping centre has copies of both parts 3 and 2 if anyone in Cheshire is interested....
  20. Many thanks to everyone above for their thoughts and knowledge on this vehicle. It has given me plenty to think about, research and importantly given me a few options to explore.
  21. Recently aquired an OO gauge Dapol B011 fruit van, an unpainted body which is allegedly a GWR vehicle. It says on the bag that it came in (from Dapol) that it has an 11 foot chassis. Is there a chassis kit to fit this vehicle or is it an old duffer that should really go in the bin? It looked like a nice mini project for winter to build a chassis and paint up for it.

Ordered 4 simple on/off switches from this site for my new (analogue) layout. The items were keenly priced and very swiftly dispatched. No connection to them, just a happy customer. Anyone else tried them?
