  1. It all went too modern for me when they brought in those yellow warning panel thingies. I see they now have been abandoned on the class 345's EMU's and TPE class 68's - hurrrah...
  2. Perhaps we should all (brits, euros, americans) have adopted American OO scale that has a track gauge of 19mm- very close to the P4 18.883- a nats whisker. In an ideal world of course S gauge would be king......
  3. John, many thanks for the images, and yes I prefer the 'classic' arrangment Inglenook. I especially like the 'work in progress' images, as we are always looking for improvements to our layouts, and it encourages people like me to 'have a go' ! regards Paul
  4. Steve, will the type 2 have a hydraulic driveline/ transmission? When will all be revealed for this loco or have I missed a clue somewhere regards Paul
  5. They are currently available at the major retailers-anyone tried them yet?
  6. Hello Wollaston blue, like the look of the last layout-any dimensions? the top right hand siding looks a bit of a sqeeze though-enough for a GP40 plus one 50' car? Presume the orange square is where the cassettes go? Glad about your 'conversion'-you wont regret it! regards Paul
  7. clearly a slippery subject.. I will ask my auntie Marge...

    Dapol Class 21/29

there are some great ER diesel images (mainly the Ipswich ones) on the above Flickr account; Clive , you need to see them !
  9. As usual, a lovely little show, well done to the organisers; the catering was fine. The best 2 layouts for me were 29th St Wharf and Thorncliffe, where the owners were quite charming and helpful. Lots of useful trade stands where I stocked up on supplies-glue, couplings, fishplates - the usual suspects. Only a very minor criticism was the lack of a more detailed guide to the layouts. Overall though, a positive delight
  10. Pete a very nice 'tuning fork' style here-do you intend to put up overhead catenary?
  11. I agree with the politician. Its also very small, compact loco -great for small layouts. It would go very nicely with my Hymek too......
  12. Does Heljan's announcement of a forthcoming 'late, refurbed' class 50 affect the crowdfunding project here for LLC?
  13. The one on Hyde Road in Gorton you mentioned earlier Steve used to sell the entire range of Triang TT circa 1964. The Sports Depot on Princess Rd in Moss Side, sold loads of Trix too, including the famous Conveyor set that costs 2 weeks wages back then. What choices we had!
  14. The double barrel name model shop on Deansgate in Manchester was Tyldsley and Holbrook (cant vouch for the spelling). They used to sell Anbrico DMU's for what seemed high prices at the time-tho they were hand made.
  15. Steve when will the identity of the 'mystery type 2' (diesel I assume) be announced?

    Dapol Class 21/29

Hi Clive Yes you are right. Thats at least 4 new diesels to look forward too then eh -who said that with diesels 'all have been done' ! Apart from the forthcoming NB types (41,29,21) , looking forward to early Metrovicks with wrap around windows-when they ran between Manchester Central they used oil lamps too on the front to indicate train type, so no need for lights etc. Apologies for topic drift here folks. Paul

    Dapol Class 21/29

The 'exception' maybe the earlier class 05 hunslet shunters, as Heljans model is the later one with larger wheels and a taller cab.
  18. Seeing the two loco sizes and their respective loading gauges, it looks like the HO/OO difference - only in reverse and slightly exagerrated! Great footage, loved it, esp the catenary.
  19. An early non-mazak infected class 30/1 diesel loco would be nice-perhaps like the one they were planning for 2016....

In DCC mode at the front of the loco I can switch the the top, left, and right lights on. At the cab end when that runs forward only the top light comes on and is switchable. Is this the same for others?

My model D3219 arrived today and runs very sweetly indeed under DC. Only one of the marker lights comes on going forward, the upper one. Is this correct -the instructions suggest under DCC ALL the lights come on...
