  1. Hi, this is a good layout plan for beginners and experts alike. I would be careful to allow for your longest engine and possibly 2 wagons at the top of the yard clear of the point. If you have the space you can always allow a portable length of track as an add on- a fiddlestick.
  2. I really enjoyed this issue and look forward to the final (?) issue. My only criticism of this volume is that on the section about Bromsgrove, there is no mention of the fleet of Hymeks based there as bankers -like the 37's-in the mid/late 60's
  3. A3 in Network Rail yellow would be quite outstanding! GBRf blue/yellow would be better tho...
  4. I have had the same so I dont think that is your version of windows or your browser... perhaps the moderators can help us with this; I have tried deleting all temp. files etc and 'flushed' the cach but it comes back..randomly possibly. Could be part of a networka attack?
  5. the maroon on the CMC models looks very dark- more like the 'wine' colour on West Coast locos. Was it a trick of the camera?
  6. Looks very nice, any track plan or dimensions to this? the trucks and cranes -what make are they? Paul
  7. Perhaps the best choice would have been American OO gauge with its 19mm track -near as dammit to P4/S4 ?
  8. A great little show with plenty of trade support and a good selection of layouts both by size and type. The layout operators seem friendly too, and the catering is very good and value for money. Easy to get to as well, just 5 mins from the Metrolink tram stop at Queens Road. Would definitely go next year!
  9. yes you are right, and it looks wrong too compared to the numerals; has anyone told Hattons?? could be a dealbreaker for me...
  10. Bought 32655 and it was erratic runner straight out of the box. Looking at the pickups, it was clear they were not adjusted properly, so this was done by unscrewing the keeper plate but not completely removing it, and bending the pickups out so they were touching at all times. After that it ran sweetly in analog and DCC. It It is a big advance on old Dapol model, which was good for its time though.
  11. I second that ; his was a truly unique career, starting off as a teen idol and ending up firmly at the avant garde end of pop..
  12. Kernow deserve congratulations for bringing this fine model to market; my only 2 'niggles' are that the finish could have been a little more satin - subjective I know- and the front faring at the side of the of the loco by the buffers could have been 2-3mm lower, but I may be wrong here. Its also good to praise the quality of customer service offered by Kernow; all email queries answered promptly and the goods delivered in good time and well packaged. Model of the year??
  13. Maybe they are doing the Flying Snotsman?? hat, coat, leave...

    Dapol Class 21/29

It is the second EPS and it looks a lot better than the first, especially the body profile; I will definitely buy at least one! Does anyone know if the tooling has been done to allow recessed tablet catcher versions...as many of them carried this, all the ones delivered new to Scotland
  15. Thanks for that. Would it be quicker to spread the glue on the trackbed (except where point blades are) and then lay the track on top and then scatter ballast lightly on top? When all is dry then shake/vacuum off the non gluey bits. Spanish mainlines look like they have just been freshly ballasted...not a weed in sight, and some of the embankments look very tidy, like ours used to look.
  16. Shaping nicely Pete. The ballast looks very tidy, as it is now in Spain from what I saw of it around Seville last year, but how did you do yours exactly? regards Paul

    Bachmann hall

Notice that Kernow are showing... '32-002A Bachmann Hall Class Steam Locomotive number 4971 named "Stanway Hall" in BR Black livery with early emblem and weathered finish. New release - pre-orders invited - expected January 2019 ' How does this model compare with the Hornby Railroad Hall?
  18. John Yes I followed your advice, and I am now toasting new year! Thanks. I am also going to get some spare springs from Peco too. regards Paul
  19. Harold Many thanks for the video. it has shown me enough to realise that it looks like I need to get a new spring for this point. Is it quicker to get Peco to supply them direct, or are there certain retailers that hold them? regards Paul
  20. I have a Peco code 75 medium radius point, and the spring on the switch has come adrift in the process of ballasting. The spring is intact and I have removed the T shape plastic flap that 'sits' on top of the switch part of the point. Does anyone know how to reinstall/recontruct this point so that the spring works and the point can function as it previously did? It looks very fiddly. Can anyone recommend a suitable method/tool for doing this-apart from lots of patience of course
  21. Many thanks Ben Alder, will have a try, and it should work for Bullieds too, possibly! regards Paul
  22. On the Hornby Pacific steam locos, in particular the Britannias, Clans, and the Bullieds the trailing bogie on the loco is fixed with a flangeless wheel set. This looks less than convincing when moving on model railway curved track under 3' radius or so. Has anyone modified this bogie to be flexible so it swings with the track, presumably fitting the flanged wheels that come with it as a substitute for the flangeless ones? It looks like bit of very delicate surgery to me, or is it straightforward? The Bachmann solution for their ex-LNER pacifics is to make the wheel sets swivel within the fixed rame, which seems a cleaner solution to the problem of large locos on 'train set curves' than the Hornby one.
  23. What about an RTR operational catenary system, for these class 85,87,soon 86 and 90s in 4MM ? After all back in 1960 we had 2 such systems- Triang and Trix; maybe later go the whole hog with wireless control so we can dispense with all these 'standard' DCC chips?
  24. Lovely modelling , but isnt the Brake Van a Toad E?
  25. Very nice indeed..around the 1964-5 period when the number plates were removed and numbers were chalked or painted , many of them lost their safety valve covers too, as well as their smokebox numbers .
