  1. That's a shame they've not refined the bogies. Those tie rods to the bolsters are way too thick. Not a patch on Hornbys 7ft bogies IMO.
  2. I can wait, Rob. I couldn't find the irony emoji to add to the post.
  3. Looks like they were popular. Were being the operative word, they're all gone. I didn't want either, but a Toad and SR 8 plank fell in to my basket while I wasn't looking. As FWW said, rude not to at those prices.
  4. <patiently waits for someone to post Warley pcs>
  5. I believe Russ is referring to the bufferbeam itself, not the buffer fixings. (Or both)
  6. There's also a thread somewhere that shows how bad AI is, with the purple MR wagon. Just heading out to work so will have to dig it out later unless someone else recalls it.
  7. Same here, short cranked ones so I can also slam the pocket up under the chassis so its a little less intrusive. With the Bachmann short coupling you can still have the end of the pocket level with the buffer beam and get close coupling. Maybe something to look at for future Rapido models? That would help on short wheelbase wagons and also please people swapping for other coupling types.
  8. It is, the caption on plate 36 states the standard size head on self-contained buffers was 1' 3" instead of 13". Corbs, what length are they? 1'6" or 1'81/2"? They also look a little long to me.
  9. After looking at the footage again, I'd agree it was a proper termination due to booster failure. When they went to relight the middle ring of engines, one failed to light, then several shut down as you say, before the whole lot boom. T+2:58 there is also a big venting of oxygen or methane. Stuff is very broken. I don't think there is much fault tolerance on losing Raptors as is thought. Look at IFT2 vs IFT1 and see how much faster the 2nd launch is with a full compliment of engines running.
  10. Scott Manley's take on the launch. Starship & Superheavy Become The Biggest Rocket In Space.... Before Exploding It wouldn't surprise me if the booster explosion was a deliberate test of the FTS, given the "failure" of it to operate properly last time.
  11. That was a pretty dull quali. It looks like pretty much any other dull street circuit* - boring and samey. I couldn't tell where on the track they were because every bit looks the same with all the safety fencing, very like Singapore.
  12. The GWR didn't paint underframes and axleboxes black though. It is very well established that they used the same dark grey paint all over the wagons. There are plenty of pics in Atkins et all that do not look like black livery. One in particular has an N4 next to an AA8 and they look to be the same shade of grey.
  13. Window fitters, using them to fix masonry screws. The guy who did my windows ~8 years ago used one, so they aren't recent.
  14. I bought a Sony 40" flat screen TV in 2004 (I remember the time well as Currys had a £100 trade in offer at the time - I took in an old 14" mono CRT TV and the manager said, "Yup, that qualifies for discount"). The TV is still going strong today as a hand me down to my other half's daughter. The bits that stopped working were things like Youtube and BBC iPlayer where the technology changes in the apps prevented the new apps from working on the old TV and so updates stopped coming through. A Roku stick soon sorted out internet connectivity.
  15. Put them in 2CVs. Saves wear and tear on the race cars, is greener and will be a lot more fun to watch. If the FIA supplied all the cars to spec, then it would really be down to driver skill.
  16. Yes, I was just readying that here: GWR Holden 4-wheel City stock
  17. Thanks Paul, I thought it was something to do with stock used in London.
  18. The door vents look familiar. Something to do with Metropolitan stock?
  19. It looks fine to me. If it is a recently outshopped wagon that shade of grey would be pretty damn close for anything paint pre 1935.
  20. It doesn't have to be done using a 3rd party program/site. In fact the term arose before the sites existed when people did it the way I still do it, manually. The sites just automated the process and cut down the timing of the bids. I see it as fair game. The way the ebay bid process works, people should be putting in the maximum they are prepared to pay and let ebay automation increase their bids up to that amount. But people get obsessed about winning and start ramping up their maximum bid just to win at all costs (on a lot of items I have bid on in the past, sometimes paying more than you can buy the items brand new!). I work out what I'm prepared to pay for something, wait until the last few seconds to put my bid in, if someone has a higher max and I get outbid automatically, that is fine, I put the maximum I wanted to pay for the item, someone put in a higher maximum. It also removes any temptation from myself deciding to up my maximum and get dragged into the sillyness.
  21. This is also part of the problem. The Slaters wheels measured up on mine at 12.5mm, popping some 12mm AG wheels got the one end at the right height. The other end is still out with pert buffer syndrome. Multiple things conspiring against us here!
  22. What do they look like at NVD, rather than cruel pic closeup? If still not happy, I'm sure a sharp blade would get them off. Slice them into bits either side of the uprights, then you only have a small amount to shave of each upright and the ends.
