  1. Me too (excited), but it's got to be green and a former inhabitant of Inverness.
  2. Great minds think alike. I bought 2 Bachmann 25s back when they were available at about 40 quid each. I also bought a couple of big mashima cans at the same time, so I've got the power for 2x 3 car 126s and 2x 3 car 80 class DMUs that I'm going to get around to building/converting. (eventually)
  3. quote: The other thing for later era modellers to contemplate is that the small nose side grilles seemed to change to be with one longer than the other. No doubt the aftermarket etchers will provide something in due course. I'm sure roof details varied as well. All in all a minefield, that I'm sure was covered when the 4mm Bachmann and Vitrains examples appeared. John. The change to the nose side grilles came with refurbishment. The Heljan model is of an unrefurbished 37. If you want a refurbished 37 there are lots of other things that need changing as well as these grilles.
  4. And the missing rectangular plate at the bottom centre of the nose. It makes the front look too smooth. Essential addition for anyone who buys one.
  5. Going round and round on the cheap GG day ticket - sounds like a good idea - just got to persuade Scotrail... Just been comparing photos of 68002 model and 68002 real thing. Oh Dear. Dapol keeping up their standards I see. (a la 73) Who would have thought the loss of one member of staff could have such an impact?
  6. Cathcart Circle???? I don't think so..
  7. Oh well, that's another large wad of cash that's not heading in Bachmann's direction then (or rather the retailers).
  8. 47359 First shot Westbury 19/02/90 note lack of end numbers - only a few 3TG 47s had them missing. Second shot Temple Meads 23/03/92 vinyls swapped but still no end numbers. Doorside repeater flashes are at the wrong end too, but this was a relatively common liverying error, not just on 47s. ps these phots are both of the no. 2 end, which had proper glass lenses in the headcode. The no.1 end had the frosted glass discs.
  9. 47359 was a Thornaby metals sector loco, but was then transferred to Tinsley Speedlink. It was eventually revinyled into the red diamonds, but did wander all over the place as a speedlink loco in metals sector markings.
  10. Rather worryingly, D6714 and 37041 are both shown still having the ruddy great gouge in the bodyside under the cantrail grilles. 37049 and 37284 both have smooth bodysides though. I hope that the first two will not be produced as shown on the Bachmann website. If they have the gouge I won't be buying either. If not it could be a bit expensive.
  11. I doubt it's an anagram, simply from the fact that there's only one 's'.
  12. So the 24/1 is still listed, but has only moved one step up the ladder towards production in all the time since it was announced. If it continues at this speed, it should just about arrive in time to replace my clapped out SLW ones.... Maroon portholes as expected, might have to have a few of those, they got all over the place didn't they? Motorail flats - are these the type that used to run up to Stirling/Perth? If so I'll be having a handful of those too.
  13. I am hoping that it's going to be the next logical step, ie a headcode 24. Bachmann have been dragging their heels in quite spectacular fashion with this one and deserve to be gazumped. A highland 24 with tablet catchers would see me part with a quite substantial wad.
  14. Any news on these anyone? The website hasn't been updated since Jan and the quoted dates have come and gone.
  15. Prince Charming: You! You can't lie. So tell me, puppet. What is it? Pinocchio: Uh. Hmm, well, uh... I don't know what it's not. Charming: You're telling me you don't know what it is? Pinocchio: It wouldn't be inaccurate to assume that I couldn't exactly not say that it is or isn't almost partially incorrect. Charming: So you do know what it is! Pinocchio: On the contrary, I'm possibly more or less not definitely rejecting the idea that in no way with any amount of uncertainty that I undeniably... Charming: Stop it! Pinocchio: ...Do or do not know what it shouldn’t probably be, if that indeed wasn't what it isn't. Even if it wasn't what I knew it was, that'd mean I'd really have to know what it wasn't... with apologies to the producers of Shrek (the third)
  16. £15 is quite reasonable for a boxed BCC wagon considering the price of ordinary new wagons now. Quite a few of the latest small wagon releases are over 20 notes apiece.
  17. I was a member for a while. Here are the ones I've got, 2004-8 If anyone's desperate to own any of these, any sensible offers considered.
  18. And you could send them completely around the loop after arrival to get them out of the way for a while.
  19. Not a tractor, but 7628 on the NYMR goes to Whitby every now and then and I think it has a boiler. EDIT - yes it does, just found a shot of it steaming away at Levisham.
  20. IE and original grey to start with. At least I'll have a little time to save up for IR ones after buying the IE ones. Given recent developments on the price front from Bachmann et al I shudder to think what these are going to cost.
  21. I used to drink in the Peckett's Flyer when I lived in Fishponds in the 80's. (just a couple of hundred yards away on Manor Rd)) Sadly it got refurbished, renamed and lost its jukebox with the heavy rock on it a long time ago. I'll definitely buy at least one just for it being my local (engine)

    Dapol Class 21/29

The 00 Western took ages, but look what eventually arrived. If the 21/29 goes the same way I won't be moaning.
  23. Today I read a review of the forthcoming Bachmann class 43 warship. If review production samples have been with the magazines long enough to be published, then the models for mere mortals must surely be on the ship. Compare this with the progress of the headcode version of the class 24. The 2 models were announced at the same time, but the 24 seems to have not progressed beyond the 'bags we're doing this' stage.
