  1. No worries... it was a long shot! Good to understand how you achieved the dominos in the end. Best wishes, Guy
  2. It looks like you've back-dated one of the marker lights ones (as it has the roof tanks). Did you cut out the plated panel with the marker lights or does it remove easily? If so, I'd happily give you a few quid for the marker light panels as one of my projects is to convert E3056 to mid-late 80s condition 81. Guy
  3. Thanks both. We're sorry about this year's show but hopefully it means that we can make next year even better. Best wishes and keep washing your hands! Guy
  4. Given recent events surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak as well as government advice, the Showcase organising team have taken the reluctant decision to cancel this year's show. This has been a difficult decision for all involved, but we were on the cusp of sinking a lot of fixed costs into the show (e.g. venue and hotel bookings) so it felt better to make the decision now and minimise the society's exposure. All exhibitors who were due to attend this year will be automatically rolled on to next year's show. We may still be able to also honour invites for the few layouts that we had booked for 2021 but we will be in touch on a case-by-case basis. First priority will go to the layouts bumped from this year's show. We will be in touch with all exhibitors shortly with invites for next year. Please allow us a bit of time for communication of the announcement to propagate on all channels and social media. Kind regards, The Showcase Organising Team
  5. That looks good Fran. I'm assuming that the mechanism doesn't encroach into the wagon box so we can still run them empty? Guy
  6. I should write this as I have completed a pair! Thanks for the prompt... Guy
  7. But are Hornby going to do the latest version of the APT-P just announced to run on the varsity line...? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-51312450
  8. Remarkably, some of us on here do actually work in the space industry! You might be interested to learn that one of the biggest and most credible competitors to SpaceX's Starlink system is a UK company, OneWeb. And yes, they take orbital debris and responsible space seriously: https://www.oneweb.world/responsible-space
  9. Or Shane, Legomanbiffo, Kit... to name but a few. Seriously, there is lots of knowledge out there if you look in the right place (and some very good research and modelling too)! Guy
  10. Why? What's wrong with the current thread (other than the fact it goes off topic once in a while)? Having a new thread isn't going to stop the OT posts. Guy
  11. Thanks Alex... looking forward to it! Many thanks, Guy
  12. Any update on this project chaps?
  13. Yes, 47063 was a regular to the Mendips. Also 47901 but considerable differences with that one...
  14. What they said! Thanks for letting us know Fran. Four packs of ARC now ordered!
  15. I did that too (saved for a year) and just as I was ready to order it from Hattons, it got vetoed by my mum! Grrrr.... still resentful of that. Still, I can make up for it at the age of 44 by buying a full 14 car set when it comes out (despite the fact that it never ran to Whatley!). Guy
  16. Steps 1&2 from Terry’s list for me. I only do 3&4 at the end of the session. Guy
  17. Or masking tape, airbrush and black paint?
  18. Really looking forward to this! We'll be bringing Oldshaw along with it's new fiddle yards that let us run it end-to-end and it's new light-weight lighting pelmet. A few new items of stock are being prepped too. Guy

    Class 59 in 00

Well spotted! Looking at photos on Flickr, the slightly reduced height of the lip as it passes the door is a detail difference specific to just that door (not the other 3!) and specific to 59202, so it looks like a repair or modification. All of the other 59/2s have a full height lip as they pass the door. As always, it pays to study photos and detail differences between individual members of the class. Isn't research fun! Guy
  21. They're looking great Fran! Have you got a shot 'end-on' of the inners please? The auto air brake force adjustment equipment (or whatever it's called - the thing on the bogie by the ladder) looks nice and fine too. Any chance of a 'closer look' at this too? Thanks, Guy
