  1. Just read that a Director of the GCR Loughborough has bought the 9F no. 92214, so hopefully it will now be staying on the line

    Dapol 'Western'

Did Western Champion have the small yellow warning panels from new or did it originally have an all Golden Ochre nose when first introduced to service, with the yellow warning panels being added later. Confirmation would be appreciated. Thanks, SteveT
  3. Had a great day at the Peterborough show today, came home with a couple more coach kits

  4. Less than 3 months to go and no speculation started as to Hornbys 2014 loco announcements?

probably because they bowed to demand for the Duke and P2 (if they ever arrive)

I still can't believe I predicted both the Duke and P2 correctly in the 2013 thread

  5. For info. I will be closing this proposal off next Sunday (29 September) with any parties who have shown an interest being approacherd to confirm their commitment (or not as the case may be). I will then be able to confirm the final price and arrange for the deposits to be impemented to the business undertaking this production run. Any further interested parties, please drop me a note asap. Thanks, Steve

  8. I am in the process of commissioning a set of etches to build the 1937 East Anglian train. The proposal is to have the coach sides etched only, for the Diagrams D236 to D240. The etch design will be as per the MJT sides with insert lower panels, as opposed to the Comet design with the split along the full length of the waistline. As these are Open coaches there are comparitively few panels to solder in. I believe most of the other components to build these coaches are available from the MJT range or from the increasing range of parts from Wizard Models under the RDEB name. It is proposed to supply a set coach sides for a complete rake of 6 coaches only, to include - restaurant 1st, open 1st, restaurant 3rd, open 3rd and two off semi open brake 3rds. The design layout will be based on the current available set of Isinglass drawings. Expressions of interest only are invited at this time, please contact by PM with your e-mail address and further information will be supplied as potential numbers are identified. Thanks for your interest. Steve
  9. Justin, Just wondered if there has been any progress with the underframes and detailing bits for the LNER Milk Tank wagons. Thanks,

  11. Mike, If David Geen is no longer doing shows (apart from Wells?) and he does not have an e-commerce web site, do we assume that the only way we can order products is by post. As you clearly know David perhaps either you or perhaps you could ask David himself to post some clarification on here. Thanks,

    Dapol 'Western'

Hopefully Western Champion will be in one of the future production runs, such an outstanding colour and as the 12 inch to the foot version still exists should be good seller.
  14. Another batch of D&S models just arrived in post, with a few more to follow. Why do people still pay exhorbitant prices of Ebay when the 4mm stuff can still be ordered direct?

True, if what's still available is what folk are looking for :)

  17. Stephenson Carriages are slowly re introducing the old Millholme Models range of whitemetal kits, not sure if they have done the Stirling Single yet or even if this is one they intend to resurrect. I do have one of the early examples of this kit produced when the moulds were quite new and without much wear, I have to say that it is far from being an 'excellent whitemetal kit' and it would take a very good model-maker a lot of time and effort to even produce even a half decent loco from this kit. This is in no way meant as a criticism but a reflection of the manufacturing standards of whitemetal kits at the time, this kit must be 30 years old and is of a similar quality to many whitemetal kit manufacturers of that period. But I guess we should be grateful for what we have got.
  18. Stelfox used to manufacture an etched nickel silver kit for the GNR Stirling Single many years ago, I have only ever seen one for sale and that was on Ebay so went for silly money, many hundreds of pounds if I recall correctly. Another one of those loco's I desperately wish to add to the collection but do not expect to ever come across another example. Surely a model that would be a reasonably good seller for one of the modern etch kit manufacturers, with demand even from those not of a GNR persuasion with its historical importance as a landmark loco and the fact that there is one preserved which always seems to help the sales volumes. I live in hope!! SteveT
  19. Last 3 Sheffield stock coaches now ordered, can start thinking about a rake for the 1914 ECJS Flying Scotsman set

    1. 69843

      69843

That would look rather lovely I think.

  20. I have to agree with most of the above proposals for loco's especially the F8 and C7. The A8 would be interesting especially if available in un-rebuilt form as the 4.4.4. But I think the Class Y (A7) looks a far better proportioned loco with its long coal bunker. One of the earlier 4.4.0's would be nice though - either a 492 Whitby Bogie or a McDonnell class 38. Then of course there is Blythe and Tyne Goods 0.6.0, so ugly (I am thinking cab style here)that in a perverse kind of way it is elegant. I am sure there will be many other differing views of what Arthur should consider, but whatever his choice have NER modellers ever been in a better position.
  21. Just back from York show, quietest I have ever seen it in 25+ years of visits, didn't even struggle to see (and film) Bramblewick

  24. Blue Max

    Dapol 'Western'

Not sure if this has been mentioned before and I appreciate that Dapol cannot do every livery, but think 'Western Champion' would make a very striking model in its unique livery, certainly one I would sign up for.
  25. Likewise, ordered a number of the S1 Hoppers and paid deposit a few years ago now, still no sign of them? I have one of Dan's Ballast Brake vans also, but it is the Ballast Plough Brake I now require.
