  1. Thought I needed to see what a full station will look like.. Baz
  2. Went to train a prospective weatherer yesterday. She did very well! We also fitted sound to a Dapol O Gauge Sentinel. Worst bit was getting it all back together.. Well done @Debs. Baz
  3. Funeral has been attended. Lots of attendees.. well sung hymn (all things bright and beautiful) the gentleman who conducted the service was excellent. Tea and cakes afterwards. We stopped off at a bikers cafe for lunch. (Very wet and misty so no bikers present,) A Bacon Egg, Sausage and tomato sandwich (aka a BEST) was ordered and consumed. Excellent! Very damp up on the East Yorkshire Wolds.. sunny back here in Leeds! Time for a coffee... Bas
  4. I had a close call with a complete doilum coming back over the Hills tonight. I was in the middle lane overtaking a car or three, with lane 3 occupied when .. a guy in a Merc didn't look or indicate (looks like after Audis and BMW s held the record of "indicators, what indicators??" Merc Benz are also not fitted with working indicators.. pah! Had an interesting trip around bits of Cheshire I don't ever want to visit ever again as the Mororway past ellesmere port was U/S... due to an accident...PAH! Off to a family members' funeral tomorrow since I will be awol from ERs tomorrow. Baz
  5. As it happens I have been visiting the awl flinger today.. boy has she been busy! After major aerodynamic and material testing she has almost perfected a hypersonic, stealthy awl.. so watch out..she is armed and could cause you major pain for including muddling items in ERs. Having said that @Debs. has passed her apprenticeship training and tests and is now a bona fide member of the guild of advanced weatherers.. Baz
  6. Ey up! Off to the wrong side of the Hills shortly. A call into moreasons for fuel and a cake or two to tempt someone I am visiting may also be procured. Then it's off to the delights of the M62 and M60. Frabjoy!! Time to finish my tea and get going! Baz
  7. Ey up! Dr Eldest has sent his mother a card and a present. Silence from youngest Herbert.... Tazzie is an interesting place.. it comes across as not being 100% Australian with some interesting "ways" of doing things. It does spend a lot of getting tourists in.. and we enjoyed our stay there last year (apart from road works on all major roads!) Meanwhile, in other matters.. I am off to see the guardian of the Awls in the near future. Just don't go upsetting her.. she has a full armoury of very sharp, aerodynam8cally improved awls in her ready use locker! Have a calm Mothering Sunday! Baz
  8. Different Leagues use different definitions. It gets more interesting when, in a 100 over match the team batting first could use 60 overs to set a target, the team batting second having 40 overs to reach the target or to be a % of the target and not all out by the end of the overs to be a winning or losing draw. Baz
  9. Hope that @grandadbob surv8ved the England v Ireland game today.. nail biting stuff!! Baz
  10. And a bit more visible progress.. Well it is if you spot the white sleeper ends The yard now has.. electro magnets fitted. The magnets use sprung toggle switched (on the "pink" lines. The one on its own is a dead end on off switch for the yard head shunt. Better view of the white sleeper ends. In other news all platforms in place just need some weathering then some station running in boards. Lamps and benches.. more on this soon! Baz
  11. New blind has been fitted. Lots of brownie points awarded. Soup and a bun consumed for lunch.. now.. Time for wielding my soldering Iron... Baz
  12. Ey up! Woken by the early morning Rhino air flight to Dublin this morning.. 737 Max are very noisy! Watched a bitnof Rugby League last night.. nail biting stuff but Leeds eventually won! Hurrah! Having driven a UTE in Oz I found that one cramped ( like a reverse tardis), cornering capability of a brick and very uncomfortable to drive. Must have been a truck chassis based one? I have no official jobs to do bar one today. The job is.. fit new roller blind.. the one which isn't wide enough. This will involve drilling through a tile.. never the easiest thing to do. Time to.. drink my tea then gerronwithit. Baz
  13. So typically French..... Baz
  14. Interesting wicket.. sort of greenish... Baz
  15. Ey up! I blame the money grabbing lawyers for a lot of the problems of the world.. time they were put firmly back in their box.. only my opinion.. Got lots of little jobs to do today.. they all take time for limited returns. I have to o0en the railway club this afternoon for a couple of people to fix odd items. I will find some things to do while down there. Busy flight pattern out of Leeds today.. Jet2 service their 737 fleet here so some positioning flights going on.. 2 flights in 20 minutes are off to Glasgow..that flight used to be a scheduled one using Shorts 360s.. happy memories! Time to rouse myself. Enjoy your day as much as you can! Baz
  16. Mornington Crescent.. but where to next?? And, can you use the reverse Waterloo pivot to move on to your chosen route?? Baz
  17. @polybear.. a This is a fascinator.. Mrs O works in a sue ryder charity shop.. she found a WYPTE Kerching card today (a pre paid multiple use bus ticket.. which, when you put it in the ticket machine the machine went "Kerching"whilecit stamped the date and time on it. They find all sorts of stuff in donations.. Baz
  18. It's like a hat.. but it isn't a full hat. You wear it for weddings etc.. Baz PS and it costs OW MUCH?? BAZ
  19. Ey up! @Ozexpatriate the only thing to do is become hermit.. and live in a bunker until its all over.. at least you know when it is.. we are just going to suffer for an indeterminate time...Pah! Nice bew bike @New Haven Neil.. is its name indicative to the social standing of your good lady? Her indoors got home at 11:30 last night. She has ordered a dress, bought a jacket and fascinator to go with it.. wallet is in shock! An interesting melding of minds yesterday .. which was great.. perhaps if these minds were used to govern the UK it would quickly return to being run by a sensible party? Dr Eldest Herbert has identified that few, if any, politicians have had to face life threatening points in their career.. in US Military parlance.. "having seen the elephant". It means they are clueless about "normal life" He could well be right. (For his PhD he interviewed Lord Carrington, Dennis Healey and Dame Sirley Williams who, despite their political differences, used their personal history to work together in the interest of the common people.. I think that may be why nobody trust politicians? I am off to moreasons to allow her indoors to catch up with herself so TTFN! Baz
  20. Ey up! If you live in Britain and don't like the surveillance in place you can always move somewhere else. If you live outside of Britain and don't like how we do business.. well tough.. its our little island.. you choose not to live here so.. Baz
  21. Good idea.. just like the real thing.. Baz
  22. My Bachmann (and Kitmaster) Mark 1s have been fitted with floor mounted No 5s for years, as have y kit built LMS coaching stock. Makes it easier to remove stock from exhibition layouts and you can still uncouple them using magnets or hand uncoupling on the layout. You just need to make sure the ride heights are correct and position te draft boxes to allow the couplings to go around your tightest curves. (Note not all Bachmann Mk1s have the same ride height due to the variation in bogie set ups and.. the hook and bar couplings can cause derailments in my experience) Baz
  23. As it happens not yet Baz
  24. Ey up! Not a good nights sleep obtained.. Pah! Off to play with a scale model of a place near Barnsley near Barnsley today @Erichill16knows where I mean! UK PLC has turned itself into a profit provider for many overseas companies including Pension funds in Canada and free roving financial whizz kids in the USA. Service comes last to these money grabbing people but the City of London loves them.. Time to gerronwithit. I hope @grandadbobis OK.. along with other missing ERs I hope they are well! @polybear Madeira, the Canaries, the Balearics are ok. Malta as already said is nice.. or you could visit thecRailways of the North. TTFN Baz
  25. they play cricket on the frozen lake as well.. and no, I am not volunteering to umpire it! Baz
